Bullymake Box December 2017 Box closed

Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers. You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately. Nyx is definitely a power chewer! You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog. (Nyx weighs about 87 right now)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Toys-only, 80-pound, $39 a month, box.

Bullymake Box December 2017 Review

About Bullymake Box

The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box

The Cost: $39 a month (save with 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions)

The Products: Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes). You can also choose a “toys only” box. Because of Nyx’s dietary issues, I went with the “toys only” box. You can also enter specific allergy information in a box on the checkout screen.

Ships to: USA (free!), Canada for $8, and Internationally for an additional cost

Good to know: if you want a toys-only box, you must select that during sign-up. Otherwise, you will get the default box, which does include some treats.

Not every item fits a theme with this box, but often, a lot of them do:

Not all boxes are the same due to the fact that you can choose your dog’s size in 10 pound increments, choose a toys-only box, etc., but there is usually an information card highlighting an item or two from the box.

Bullymake Candy Cane Nylon Chew

Bullymake Candy Cane – Retail Value $18

This is the custom nylon chew for the month. Nyx loved it (of course). It looks kind of small but was actually a good size for her. (However, it should also work for a smaller dog.) Nyx will get to play with this a few more times, too, as she hasn’t yet caused much damage to it.

Soda Pup Lifesaver

Soda Pup Lifesaver – Retail Value $17

Soda Pup toys are made of a super durable rubber. Nyx hasn’t managed to destroy one yet. This one is a round ring and the other side has a wider opening with a bit of a lip so you can put a bit of wet food or peanut butter or whatever in there. Nyx loves ring-shaped toys, in general, so this was a hit.

Grriggles Satellite

Grriggles Satellite (large) – Retail Value $10.99 (found here for $4.93)

This toy operates on the same principle as a KONG – there is a wider hole in the bottom and a smaller hole in the top (this prevents suction so your dog’s tongue doesn’t get stuck in there…). You can put peanut butter or treats or whatever you want inside. This has a more angular (but not sharp) shape than a KONG to add interest. Note: these were sold out at most online merchants.

Bullymake Stocking by American Dog

Bullymake Stocking by American Dog – Retail Value $14

This is a stuffing-free nylon toy. These are fairly tough but not indestructible, as we’ve had them in several other shapes in the past. Nyx will eventually chew a hole in this but she hasn’t yet and it will take a few sessions before the inevitable happens.

I took pictures with the candy cane toy this month. Nyx lives for these nylon chews from Bullymake Box, and the flavors don’t aggravate her inflammatory bowel disease. They don’t last her forever, but she will get to play with this a few more times before I have to take it away for good.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $59.99 (or $53.93 using the sale price for the Grriggles Satellite toy) for the December 2017 Bullymake Box. That’s a great value for a dog subscription that costs about $40. The items were of varying durability (most were pretty tough) but all were size-appropriate. The candy cane and the stocking were particular favorites of Nyx’s.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be January’s. You can buy some of the exclusive toys at the Bullymake Shop if something catches your eye. Also, please note that this is the TOYS ONLY version of the box and it is selected for an 80-pound dog. There are some box variations here so you may not always receive the same box as Nyx gets, even if you choose the same profile values when you sign up.

Value Breakdown: At $39 for the box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Bullymake Candy Cane $11.70
  • Soda Pup Lifesaver $11.05
  • Grriggles Satellite $7.14
  • Bullymake Stocking by American Dog $9.10

Link (115lb Great Dane, 1 yr old) destroyed the stocking in minutes, the satellite didnt fare much longer. Bullymake was great about replacing them. The other two have lasted.
