Luxury Scent Box is a fragrance subscription box for men and women. Each month you will receive 9 mL (about 0.3 fl oz) of a designer fragrance. You can accept the fragrance of the month, you can choose scents based on a short profile survey, or you can just build a calendar of scents on your own.

There’s not a traditional information card with this box but there was an insert with a little more information about the subscription and also a small card with instructions on how to use the holder that comes.

With this shipment, I received a holder for the fragrance vial. You twist the top part to raise the fragrance up and turn it back the other way to store the fragrance. This way you can simply throw it in a purse without worrying that damage to the fragrance vial will cause it to empty its contents!

You receive a new case every quarter; it will be shipped automatically.

TokyoMilk Dark Femme Fatale Collection No. 10 “Everything and Nothing” – Value $7.88 (buy 1.6 oz for $42)

First off, I already had a small sample of this in my collection, and I definitely think you are getting an authentic product with Luxury Scent Box – the sample in this vial was identical to what I already had. In terms of value, this doesn’t exceed the monthly cost of the box, but that is wholly dependent upon what fragrances you choose. (This happens for me a lot with Scentbird, too.)

This has notes of rose, mandarin, tangerine, white jasmine, peony, muguet (aka lily of the valley), amber, and white musk. It was not an overwhelmingly fruity, floral scent on me, which is great, since I’m not really into the whole fruity/floral thing when it comes to fragrance. This was a little sweet on me (not sure what note or combination contributed that), which I actually like, especially in combination with citrus. I *am* a fan of rose, which is subtle here (at least on me; fragrances are highly dependent upon body chemistry) and of course amber and musk are always great. I liked this more than I expected to!

Verdict: The fragrance I received this month had a value of a little under $8, so it’s not necessarily a bargain, but if you are looking for the right scent for you, personally, that might end up being $40 for a full size bottle or $200 for a full size bottle, and you never know until you try them out. Thus, I think some of the value here is in being able to sample fragrances of your choosing and/or that have been matched to you based on a profile. You receive enough product here to wear it under different circumstances (to work, running errands, out for dinner, etc.), which is nice.

In terms of comparison to similar services, this costs about the same as Scentbird. You get 9 mL here instead of 8 mL as with Scentbird, so you’d receive a little more product with Luxury Scent Box if you opted for the same fragrance. Scentbird and Luxury Scent Box have overlapping but not identical fragrance selections, so the decision may come to who carries the brands you are most interested in trying.

Oh I was also told that very soon LSB is going to offer 2 scents per month as an option but the CS rep wasn’t positive on the price. She *thought* it was going to be around $30 which is what ScentBox charges for 2 fragrances with 2 cases and access to all premium fragrances.

The difference in price points is for $15 you get your vial and a new case every quarter. You have access to the premium fragrances but if you choose one of them it’s a $3 upcharge. For $18 you get the vial, a new case monthly and access to the premium fragrances without an upcharge. This ships in a box and it does arrive in about one week. Mine was shipped 11/30 and arrived 12/4. Customer service is SUPER friendly/nice and helpful. I’ve been with them about a year now. They have some great fragrance options that ScentBox and Scentbird don’t have. I have the $18 sub because I like getting a new case every month and it’s usually a different color. I don’t think I’ve had a dupe color yet!

Their website FAQ doesn’t mention that there are apparently 2 plan types, Standard and Premium ($15 and $18, respectively). I stumbled on that information while looking at one of their recent FB posts. I don’t know what you get for each/why they’re different. Based on the fragrances listed under Women, many of the products have a ‘premium item’ sticker on them. If that means you need to have the premium plan to get the premium fragrances, it correspondingly restricts a subscriber’s choices. Something to consider!

Thank you for posting about this. I’m currently on a bi-monthly Scentbird subscription. I might consider adding Luxury Scent to my subscriptions, but will have to look into what you mentioned, and want to see whether or not they offer
non-monthly subscriptions (like Scentbird.)

I adore Everything & Nothing. It’s one of my go-to everyday fragrances. I’ve been obsessed with finding the perfect citrus scent for myself, & usually they’re either simplistic with a sweet scent like candy (nice, but too “young” for everyday use on me), or paired with wood notes (which come across very masculine with my body chemistry).

How long did it take for the perfume to arrive? I canceled Scentbird when they started using DHL. It took around two weeks for each shipment to arrive, which was ridiculous. If this one ships faster, I’ll give it a shot.

I believe mine takes around 5 days to arrive:)

Unfortunately, I don’t know. Since they sent me this to review, I didn’t get a shipping notice, and I’m not sure which item in my USPS dashboard it was.

This, like Scentbird, may have to go via ground shipping due to flammability issues, which slows things down, of course.

I don’t know of a subscription of this type that carries Derek Lam fragrances (I just checked a couple).
