Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Reynolds - Retail Value $17.99 (found on sale here for $12.79)
Our first book of the month features a brave rabbit named Jasper and a creepy pair of underwear! The book takes us on an adventure with Jasper as he tries to show that he isn't afraid of things anymore, but he just doesn't like this creepy pair of underwear that glows in the dark. The scary part is that the underwear won't stop following him! It all turns out in the end, but boy does Jasper have to go through a lot before he can really show how brave he is and not afraid of some glowing underwear. My son is currently potty training so underwear is a really cool concept to him. This book couldn't have come at a better time as we learn about all the funny things that come along with underwear!
This cute card came with the book that looks exactly like the creepy pair of underwear in the book, oh my! It also mentions another book by the author, Creepy Carrots!
Zombelina by Kristyn Crow - Retail Value $16.99 (found on sale here for $15.19)
This is a book that I would have loved as a little girl so it made me really happy to share this with my son. Zombelina is the most adorable zombie you will ever meet and she loves to dance! The story takes us through her love of dance and how we can all get the jitters during recitals, no matter how much you practice. Her family is there by her side and she shows how important they are to her. A funny story to read around the spooky time of Halloween with a wonderful message. This has quickly become a daily read for us!
Sticker Friends: Halloween Book – Retail Value $4.99
This sticker book is awesome and packed full of over 300 stickers. Each page is filled with spooky scenes that you can decorate with any sticker you desire! My son is newly into stickers and Halloween so this has been an afternoon playtime activity that keeps him occupied for at least an hour, love!
E.T. Temporary Tattoos From Quirk Books - Estimated Value $1.86? (value based on similar product)
E.T. is hands down one of my favorite movies so I was beyond excited to receive this sheet of temporary tattoos. Honestly, how cool are these?! While I am not a huge temporary tattoo wearer and my son is a bit too young to enjoy this, I love the graphics so much that I hung them on my fridge. I know that one day we will be able to share in the movie watching joy of E.T. with my son, and when that day comes I will have these handy for him to enjoy!
Halloween Activity Pages - Estimated Value $2.00?
These activity pages are a newer feature that is an exclusive LitJoy Crate packet. There are a few pages that relate to both of the books we received and then one awesome skeleton DIY. All are great to use with your little ones after they read each book because it helps to really bring the story to life! I find that my son really enjoys going through these sheets and remembers the characters after reading the books a few times. We also received a card with other creepy book recommendations.
Ghost Ring Pop & Tootsie Roll Pop - Estimated Value $1.00?
What would Halloween be without candy?! I love a good ring pop and thought my son would be uninterested in it, but he actually loved the little ghost and the yummy strawberry flavor. These were a fun little surprise treat to find!
Green Glow Stick Necklace - Estimated Value $0.40 (Buy 25 for $9.99 here)
These glow stick necklaces are perfect for your trick or treater to wear on Halloween night! My son ran quickly from house to house so we were able to easily keep an eye on him watching the little green glow of this necklace. Super helpful to get right before Halloween night!
Spider Pop Craft Kit - Estimated Value $0.67 (Buy a pack of 12 for $7.99)
This little craft kit makes a spooky little spider that you can use for decoration or play with. You can also use your lollipop to help build out the spider. My son is a little young for a craft like this and tried to eat the pieces, but this is something I will for sure be crafting on my own!
Mummy Trick-or-Treat Bag - Estimated Value $1.33 (Buy 12 for $15.98)
I can never have too many tote bags! My husband loves all things Halloween and loved this tote that he called dibs on it to use as his lunch bag. I love when items like this can be fun for the whole family!
Verdict: My son is obsessed with books and LitJoy Crate makes it so easy to add fresh books to his collection each month. I love that you receive two books each month now, which really brings up the value for me. I have always been so happy with the quality of the books that I have received and this month was no exception. The illustrations and stories for October were so funny and engaging! We received this LitJoy Crate just in time for Halloween night and now my son is still able to enjoy all things spooky with this wonderful curation of Halloween items.
Estimating the overall value for this box can be a little tricky now that you receive more paper products, DIY kits, and candy. However, I received an estimated value total of $47.23 which comes in above the monthly cost of $38.98 ($29.99 a month + $8.99 US shipping fee). Overall, I was really happy with the curation of this month's LitJoy Crate, but I think I would be happy receiving less of the smaller items and more of the bigger extras like the sticker book. The most important part for me is that I am introducing my son to new books and activities that are funny and engaging for him, and LitJoy Crate does a great job of providing that for me and my son each month!
