Dia & Co
2.5 overall rating

Dia & Co. is a monthly plus size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 20% discount is applied if I choose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co. may be entirely different than mine!

The always adorable and stylish Dia & Co envelope that I look forward to every month!

Dia and Co November 2017

Enclosed in this cute envelope is a note from my stylist, Natalie, telling me why she selected the pieces she did for me along with some awesome styling tips. She included some of the brands I inquired about that I saw at Curvy Con which is a big plus!

Dia and Co November 2017

The other form is an invoice that has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item she selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off ( if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. The savings would be $114.88 if I did decide to keep everything! You can’t beat that price. That amount of savings is like getting the purse and skinny jeans for free!

Colette Wrap Dress from Rachel by Rachel Roy, Size 22 - Cost to Keep $100

In my last feedback for my stylist, Natalie, I requested more of the lines that were featured at the Dia and Co fashion show at the Curvy Con I went to in NYC this past September. Well, she certainly delivered with this dress from Rachel Roy’s Rachel line. I stepped out in this and both my photographer, Michele, and her sister said immediately how much they loved this dress. The fabric has limited stretch, but it is not necessary due to the dress’s flattering cut and back tie that can be adjusted to be more fitted. I absolutely love the 70s witchy vibe this dress has. I felt like the chubby lovechild of Stevie Nicks and Shelly Duvall in this number. I paired the dress with patterned City Chic tights and velvet knee high Shoe Dazzle boots. Pair this dress with big bug-eyed 70s sunglasses, flats, and a jean jacket for a casual Sunday afternoon late fall outfit.

Cambridge Cluth in Navy/Black - Cost to Keep $28.50

Last month’s Dia & Co review featured a gorgeous black crushed velvet purse that I ended up keeping. This month, another velvet purse was included, but this time it is blue!  I like how the purse has a geometric basket like quilt design on it with gold dot stud details. I also like the fold over purse design. It comes with a gold chain that can be attached to the purse or you can use it like a clutch as I modeled.  This purse is rather versatile and can be paired with dressier and more casual outfits. This would easily dress up a simple jeans and t-shirt ensemble. I love how a look can be transformed completely with how you accessorize.

Nathalia Layered Bell Sleeve Blouse by East Adeline, Size 3x - Cost to Keep $69

Guys, I won’t lie to you, sending this top back was almost painful. I requested East Adeline pieces and I am glad Natalie came through with this shirt. I love their retro 70’s meets modern boho style designs. I have a dress from the East Adeline line I treasure that I reviewed in my August Dia& Co review. This top is gorgeous as well! The print is fantastically folky with a warm color palette of pinks, reds, mustards, and mints. Of course, I love the bell sleeves, but the added touch is the layering of the fabric on the chest. I made a point of showing how the bottom layer tucked in compares to the entire top being untucked. I prefer the former option best, as did my photographer. The material lacks stretch, but stretch isn’t necessary for this style. The material is meant to drape the body rather than hug it tightly. I love the breezy quality of this top. I styled it with patterned tights, my Bad Sandy heels, and a camel faux suede mini skirt. This top would look fantastic as well with fitted black pants for the office or with skinny leg jeans and booties for a night out with friends!

Giara Pleated Peplum Split Shoulder Top by Rebel Wilson X Angels, Size 3x - Cost to Keep $98

I have made a point of requesting Rebel Wilson’s new line from any subscription box that offers it. Natalie selected this navy and black cold shoulder knit top for me. I was a bit discouraged upon seeing it had a cold shoulder. This trend won’t die, huh? It has followed us even into the cold weather months. I liken the trend to Stink Bugs: they just won’t go away. That all being said, I did like this sweater one I tried it on. The fabric has a great amount of stretch and dreamily hugs the body’s curves. The bottom of the top is almost bell-shaped. I was pleasantly surprised by the flattering cut of this sweater. This piece would look great on a variety of body types. I styled this top with the jeans that Natalie also sent me, but this would also look fantastic with a black mini skirt, patterned tights, and booties for a night out on the town!

Wellington Super Skinny Jeans with Knee Slits- 29 Inseam by Vigoss, Size 24 — Cost to Keep $84

I used to be a strictly dresses and skirts kind of gal, but lately, I have been gravitating to pants. They are far easier to pull on than a pair of tights, I tell ya! These charcoal-grey skinny jeans have great stretch and are incredibly comfortable. I generally avoid distressed jeans, but I actually like the knee slits and the weathered details on the hips. Bonus would be that not only do these jeans have pockets, but they have ZIPPERED pockets. If I hadn’t recently acquired several pairs of jeans, I might’ve given these a forever home.

Verdict: This month’s Dia & Co box was a good one, but not an amazing one. The two pieces I absolutely hated sending back were the Rachel Roy dress and East Adeline top. They both appealed to me with their retro style and flair. I did like the purse, Rebel Wilson top, and Vigoss jeans, but not enough to second guess sending them back. That being said, I always am eager to see what Natalie selects for me each month. Dia & Co. remains one of my favorite boxes and their price points are rather reasonable. The styling fee of $20 is sensible for such a tailored and convenient service. Plus, getting new outfits without having to leave my house during the holiday shopping season is a big plus as well!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Dia & Co curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $379.50. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $264.62 for the whole box. Ultimately, that is roughly a 30% discount.

I just received my 2nd Dia box and I have been really pleased. Kept everything from my first box I liked it so much. I too felt the Christmas crunch and had to send back some of the more expensive items from my 2nd box, but this is such a treat and I have gotten so many compliments on the items my sylist sent me. I asked her to take me out of my comfort zone into a more modern look and she has delivered. Absolutely love that dress you had on by the way!

I was very much looking forward to my Dia box subscription this past Summer, the first box selection was great but there were errors on the billing vs what was actually in the box so that had to be sorted out. They were kind enough to comp my 2nd $20 box fee for the inconvenience. The third box also had an error and the clothes were exactly what I requested that I don’t like (sleeveless, etc) so it felt like my stylist had checked out. I decided to give it another try. What made me cancel my last box was the fact that I found a sweater that I liked with the $20 was to be credited towards since I wanted to keep it but it was a bit big so I wanted a different size. I sent it back with an exchange option of needing the smaller size. A few weeks later and they notify me stating they can’t fulfill the order, but still kept my $20! That was the last straw, I really don’t think that was a fair deal and with all the previous problems I felt I needed to cancel. They either need to work on their customer service and billing accuracy or both.

I always have to give you props for your sense of style, and also how much you inspire me to try new looks and new things. I will see something like the moto jacket you wore in a past review and go for it, which is great for a mix and match look and gets me out of my comfort zone. Keep up the great job!

Sorry I am so late on seeing your response, Nursermk! I am glad my reviews have inspired you. Fashion should be fun and about self expression, so I am glad it is inspiring you to try different trends!

I can’t even handle how absolutely gorgeous you are! That floral top was killer and I would have wept to see it go. Love your reviews, they never fail to put a big smile on my face.

I don’t understand the hate for the cold shoulder trend on this website. It seems like every reviewer and commenter hates it for some reason. I personally like it. Though, I feel that there should be a place on these styling services to mention trends that you dislike so that you don’t get sent those pieces.

Also, that first dress looked absolutely stunning on you! I wish you had kept it!

Why did you return the items that you loved?? This is my favorite box for you!! Everything was super flattering and the looks you styled were fabulous! I would have kept everything but the jeans and the purse. I don’t buy a lot of jeans….I find a pair that I love and end up reaching for them almost every time I want to wear jeans. I do like having different washes though. The purse was pretty but just not my style. The East Adeline top was amazing on you, as were the sweater and the dress. Stevie would have been so proud!!! 😄

Punkykiki, it was tempting, but with the holidays so near I had a lot of Black Friday and Cyber Week deals that I was jumping at for presents for others. Trust me, I still managed to get a few items for myself, but my bank account needed a rest by the time I got my Dia box. But thank you so much! I really loved that dress and top that Natalie picked out for me. They were perfect!!!

Amy

Who really could afford to spend $250 to $600 if you bought it all with a discount of 25% off and your $20 initial charge going towards the clothing. Don’t get me wrong but I’m married and have a 6 yr old boy. If I were to even spend $100 to $250 my family would have to go without each month. I so badly would love to have someone help me with clothes but I can’t afford this one. Does anybody know of another subscription that I could afford at least for a month or 2 and not be impossible to unsubscribe????

Punkykiki

I’m sorry…it is none of my business to ask why you returned things. I didn’t mean to be rude, and when I saw my comment posted I thought it could be taken the wrong way. My apologies and keep on rocking….I love your style!!!

Nicole Rachel Roy website has a sample sale going right now, I love that dress on you and now I have to find it. Great review.

Kathleen

I love the dress and the purse! It looks like the dress could stand to be taken in just a tad in the back, unless the wrap factor can take care of the extra fabric. Your lipstick looks nice, too!

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Kathleen! I loved that dress so much! And thanks! I believe the lipstick is Scandal by Lime Crime.

“…the chubby lovechild of Stevie Nicks and Shelly Duvall.”

I’m still laughing. That was brilliant.

All of these looked fab on you, though. I’ve been really impressed by what I’ve seen of this box so far. It seems like they actually make an effort.

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Bex!

And I really so think they put a lot of thought into their selections. I am a big fan or Dia and Co!

Kathleen

I concur with the laughing out loud at your lovechild joke. Stevie Nicks seems to be mentioned a lot in your reviews, too 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Hahahaha thanks. I have been in a Stevie kick these last few months. She was such a part of my childhood that I kind of got Stevie-d out till recently. Now, I sit around playing “Gypsy” non-stop. Hahahahaha.

Anna

I love every single piece on you, you look so beautiful! These colors are really flattering and I have to know, what is that gorgeous lipstick? I must have it.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awwwwwwwe thank you so much, Anna! I appreciate all the kind words!

As for the lipstick it is either Scandal or Dream Girl by Lime Crime. I also wear Wicked a lot. I got them uber cheap last year for Black Friday. They may still have sales on the site now.

Okay I usually hate the cold shoulder look but that sweater is everything.

Agree! I literally mouthed “wow” when I saw the sweater on and I hate cold shoulder trend.

Nicole, I had to quit Dia & Co because they kept sending me clothes that were absolutely inappropriate for me as a 57 year old woman (All their stylists are under 30 I think).

Having said that, everything they sent you this month made you shine! The dress and the boho top particularly were amazing. I also liked the navy blue sweater top, but $98 is a bit steep for that. Keep up your great reviews, I love to see how they style you.

Nicole Rieder

Awe, I am sorry Dia & Co. didn’t work for you. What I always suggest with subscription boxes is to send your stylist your pinterest. It helps SO MUCH! Giving them that visual really has worked out to my advantage with all my boxes.

And thank you! I am so glad you are enjoying my reviews because I have loved writing them! :o)
