Each month's BuddhiBox includes a card with an inspiring mantra on the front and info about the contents of the box on the back. This month's message isn't so much a mantra, but a reminder to be thankful and grateful. Of course, this concept is popular during fall, with Thanksgiving so closeby. I often hear people say (or post on social media) that "we should be grateful every day, not just on one day of the year!" and I totally agree, but I also think it's just fine to put some extra oomph behind your gratitude during a specific holiday.
On the reverse is a short description for each item in the box, listed with values for each.
The Hippie Homesteader VIBRANT Essential Oil Blend - Value $10 (Listed Value $16)
One of the ingredients listed on this roll-on essential oil's bottle is the WAKE essential oil blend, which is perfect because it's all I could find to link to on The Hippie Homesteader's website! The blend is of grapefruit, frankincense, orange, and ginger, with fractionated coconut oil and avocado oil in the mix. I agree that "wake" and "vibrant" are fitting names for this blend—its scent is very fresh and lively, with citrus as its dominant scent. I'll definitely be rolling some of this on my neck and wrists on Monday mornings, when I'm inevitably sleepy and sluggish!
Yellow Fire Opal Healing Stone - Listed Value $10
I also received a piece of fire opal in my BuddhiBox Jewelry subscription this month, and similarly to my thoughts on that stone, I was surprised that this gem has very little iridescence for being an opal. That doesn't mean it lacks intrigue, though! This piece, in particular, has extremely cool markings: black growths on the inside and clay-stained white markings on the outside. I wish I had the geological terminology to actually tell you what's going on here! I'll have to do my research because this is totally the coolest stone I own now.
The info card offers a few tidbits on the meaning behind Fire Opals. It's known to stimulate the Solar Plexus Chakra, our power center, which is good for boosting self-confidence.
Probiogen Daily Digestive Balance Probiotic, 7-Day Sample — Listed Value $6 (Buy a 30-capsule bottle for $29.95)
Woah, probiotics? Score! For those unfamiliar, probiotics boost immune function, aid in gut health, heal inflammation, and more. And, they're kind of expensive, so a free sample bottle is very welcome! I've researched probiotics in the past and my understanding is that it takes 2-3 weeks of daily use to feel any benefits. Also, different supplements offer different focuses, so it is advised to look into the right probiotic for your own unique body and lifestyle if committing to taking them long-term—but this 7-capsule (7-day) sample is an awesome place to start.
As far as pill size, these capsules are pretty average, and I didn't find them to have any taste or aftertaste.
The Dreaming Yogi Meditation - Listed Value $10
As always, the guided meditation arrives by way of a little card with a link on it. Subscribers have to go to that URL on their computer and type in their email address, and they'll be taken to a YouTube video that plays the meditation. There is no visual involved in the meditation; only the recorded voice of Meli, who goes by the name of The Dreaming Yogi. This month's meditation was a little over 6 minutes. It opened with an extensive body check-in, which I found to be very grounding. It then explored gratitude through the technique of imagining loved ones and picturing yourself thanking them and hugging them. I think this is a really great exercise for friends and family members who need forgiveness; we must first forgive in our hearts, before speaking the words. Forgiveness isn't specifically covered in this meditation, so don't be deterred by my own interpretation if that's not something that serves your needs at this time!
Co-Pur Lip Balm — $4 (Listed Value $5)
A few years ago as a New Years resolution, I gave up Chapstick. It might sound silly and trivial, but those of you who are constantly rifling through your purse or digging in your pockets for Chapstick will understand why I had to break up with the stuff! The intention behind giving it up was layered: A) Chapstick is made with chemicals that actually dry your lips out after it quenches them, so I wasn't actually fixing the problem with my constant application. B) I was spending way too much money on the stuff since I lost almost every tube I ever bought! C) This is the main one—lip hydration comes from general hydration, so at the root of the effort, I was vowing to be better about hydrating. That said, I'm a hiker, a snowboarder, and a general lover of the outdoors, so sometimes the cold and wind can truly take a toll on my lips. So, after I determined I was safely off the stuff, I reintroduced all-natural lip balms back into my lifestyle. Good news: this one makes the cut!
The ingredient list is gloriously simple, and I'm sure you can imagine how these super-quenching oils would lead to an amazing scent and feeling! The makers of this lip balm were liberal with the peppermint oil, so as I type this review, I've got some serious lip tingling going on. It's amazing. Highly, highly recommend!
Verdict: The November BuddhiBox Essential Oils box introduced me to some wonderful products for a healthy lifestyle! The meditation was maybe my favorite yet, and the Fire Opal stone is a real treat thanks to its uniqueness. This box costs $15.95 box (US shipping included), and its contents add up to $40. And, truly, I did feel like I was getting a great deal on this mix of wonderful, useful products.
