Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription box for men. Each month, you’ll receive 3-4 sample size items to try along with another lifestyle item that you can select. The selection process opens about a month before shipping and, typically, allows you to pick 1 of 3 selection items.

Birchbox Man is no split into two options – Birchbox Man Plus and a new $10 version, Birchbox Man – Check out the October $10 option in our previous review.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This month’s theme was ‘A Change of Classics’ and gave you some new options to your old standbys.

Each delivery comes with an information card. These cards have the full-size values listed – I’ll do my best to break these down based on the product sizes sent!

Ministry of Supply Socks – Value $15

Each month, Birchbox Man allows you to select one lifestyle item for your upcoming box. This month I just had to go with the cozy looking socks.

Birchbox values this two pack at just $15 – but the Ministry of Supply site is selling them for $15 a pop!

These socks are snug, warm, and stayed up all day – I really couldn’t ask for more in this cold weather!

These are easily going to be some of my favorite winter socks. They have special padding and ventilation on the common pressure points of your footbed – plus, they use coffee ground infused polyester fiber to help with odor. WHAT! So interesting!

Brickell Men’s 3-in-1 Wash – Value $2.12 (based on full-size listed value)

My first product to try is a now familiar brand, Brickell Men’s Products. All my life I’ve been the kind of person that would rather use a 2-in-1 shampoo + conditioner, so to get a 3-in-1 is a no-brainer for me. I’ve been using this the past few days and really like it – it’s got a minty fresh scent, too – good for those tired mornings.

Level Naturals Vanilla + Charcoal Bar Soap – Value $1.38 (based on full-size listed cost)

Sticking in the soap department, you’ll also get a bar of activated charcoal soap.

This scent is much more toned down – and the activated charcoal helps detoxify your skin.

DTRT Dear Matt – Value $4.18 (based on full-size listed cost)

This is a lotion for oily skin – which is exactly what I need. It’ll remove the excess oil while using peppermint and sage for some smoothing out.

Olivina Napa Valley All-In-one Cleansing Cloth – Value $2 for both

Liz has really shown me the ways of these cleansing cloths, so I’ve started to use them much more frequently. But, I can definitely say that I’ve enjoyed the scents of these more than anything yet! Perfect for washing your face when you jump out of bed.

PLANT Brooklyn SUPERFACIAL Face Oil – Value ?? (1oz value is $56)

I’m not sure of the amount of product here, but the regular close of just 1 ounce is $56 – so this is a decently valuable sample. They make a type for oily skin, and a type for dry skin – this wa a sample of the dry skin formula. You’ll apply this at night to help smooth out your skin.

Verdict: I’m still a fan of this original style of Brichbox Man – now Birchbox Man Plus – I just think the lifestyle items bring such a good amount of value to the box if the selection includes something perfect for you. I’ve also enjoyed trying different products – I’ve even found new go-to brands and products over the past year, so it has been working for me!

What do you think of the November 2017 Birchbox Man subscription? Do you enjoy the lifestyle items, or are you opting for the $10 version?

  1. Does this box tend to send a lot of shaving type products? Most grooming boxes do, but my son uses an electric razor and never needs them. This month’s box, however, looks like something he would get a lot of use out of.

      • Thanks Eric! Definitely adding this to my list of ideas for him.

  2. Eric – Thanks for your reviews of Birchbox plus. Because of you I ordered this for my teenage son for Christmas and I know he will enjoy trying out all of the items and find some grooming products he likes.

    • Awesome! Hope he enjoys it!
