Wigglebutt Box is a subscription box for dogs. Items are chosen based on your dog’s size (choose “small” at under 20 pounds, “medium” for dogs 20-50 pounds, and “large” for dogs over 50 pounds). You can also specify how tough your dog is with his or her toys (“gentle/1,” “average/2,” or “ruff!/3”). For those of you who read my dog box reviews, you’ll know Nyx is in the “ruff!” category.

There was an information card detailing the items in the box.

Amazon Basics Dog Waste Bags – Estimated Value $0.25

You’ll get a roll of Amazon Basics doggie waste bags in pretty much every Wigglebutt Box.  I actually started buying this brand after first trying it here – these are inexpensive but they hold up well.

Multipet Halloween Cross Ropes Bat Toy – Retail Value $6.49

Multipet toys frequently appear in dog subscription boxes. This one is pretty cute. This looks like it was supposed to be durable, but Nyx got ahold of the black outline fabric and pulled a bunch of it off. It may have been a fluke, but it’s a good reminder to watch your dog carefully with any new toy.

Dog Speak Absorbent Stone Car Coaster – Retail Value $4.99

I didn’t find this exact design online, but I found some others from the same company (linked to above). This is a smaller stone coaster you can put in a car cup holder. Right now, my car cup holder is stuffed full of Kleenexes and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup wrappers (I’m a slob…) but this is a useful item to have and if/when my car ever gets cleaned out, this is totally going in there.

Etta Says Savory Yumm Sticks (1 oz) – Estimated Value $1.33 (buy 24 for $31.99)

This is a savory smoked pork stick. These are made in the USA. They show up in BarkBox sometimes, too. Anyway, I like that they are individually wrapped because it keeps them fresh for longer. Naturally, Nyx can’t have pork, but we will pass this along for another dog to enjoy.

Seasonal Kerchief – Listed Value $6

There’s usually a kerchief in Wigglebutt Box. I like this one. It is not your traditional Halloween design. I find the red monster with a leg growing out of its chin particularly funny. Also, this one shows up nicely against Nyx’s black fur.

Nummy Tum Tum Organic Pumpkin for Pets (15 oz) – Estimated Value $2.29 (buy a case of 12 for $27.45)

Before Nyx had her official IBD diagnosis, she had loose stools (sorry if this is TMI). We managed for a long time by putting a spoonful or two of Libby’s (or Target brand) pumpkin on her food at each meal. But this product here is great because since it is specifically made for pets, you know it doesn’t have all the spices that can upset sensitive dog stomachs. You can buy lids to put over the top of the can and you can keep the can in the refrigerator for a few days after opening.

Xpet Cat Ears Tennis Ball – Estimated Value $2

I only found this in a 2-pack on a wholesale site, but the suggested retail for a 2-pack is $3.99. Anyway, this is cute. Plus, Nyx loves tennis balls and the ears seem really securely attached. She hasn’t managed to pull them out yet, anyway. This is also size-appropriate for a large dog.

Exclusively Dog Jerkeez Pizza Chews (7 oz) – Retail Value $9.99 (currently on sale for $4.59)

These are made in the USA (so important for jerky-style treats) and have chicken as the first ingredient.  They do have some grain-based ingredients (barley flour) as well as dairy-based ingredients (e.g., whey), but they are free of wheat, corn, and soy.

Got her to pose for the camera (sort of) without help!

And here is Nyx ripping the bat toy apart.

Verdict: I calculated a retail value of $33.34 for this month’s Wigglebutt Box (less if you count sale prices). That is below the month-to-month cost of the box by about $2. However, this is the first month that I have reviewed this subscription where I really feel the value has been low. (To be fair, some Halloween-themed dog merchandise is starting to show up online and in stores with steep discounts as Halloween approaches, and that may have shown up in my valuations.) If you subscribe for a few months, I think the value definitely averages out to where it is a good deal. Most importantly for Nyx, the toys and kerchief were size-appropriate, which is not always the case for a large dog version of a dog subscription box.

Pretty girl!! So pumpkin puree helps firm things up? Bamy gets that way every once in awhile and he loves pumpkin anything.

Ragan

Yeah. Just make sure it doesn’t have any spices (just pumpkin, not pie filling).

Nyx has moved on to the big guns, psyllium fiber capsules, but she is a special case.
