Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - front info card

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - back info card

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - coupon

The box came with this information card detailing the items in the box.  There are also usually coupons and/or product literature.  Always happy to get a Beanitos coupon as that is something I buy regularly anyway.

Bakery on Main Gluten-Free Granola in Cranberry Almond Maple Flavor (1.1 oz) – Buy 11 oz for $5.59

This was unusual in that it didn’t have any oats. There were other grains formed into unusual shapes. There was only one cranberry piece in the whole bag, I think. I could take or leave this one. Still, I appreciate receiving a product that is new to me.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - beanitos black bean chips

Beanitos Black Bean Chips (1.2 oz) – Buy 6 oz for $2.99 (on sale for $2.54)

These show up all the time in subscription boxes but I do like them. This is often the brand I go for when I want tortilla chips. I find the texture pretty nice (for all the flavors I’ve tried) and these have a neutral flavor that works well with dips.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - pipcorn kettle popcorn

Pipcorn Kettle Corn (22g) – Buy 6, 4 oz Bags for $26

Ah, Pipcorn. This comes in subscription boxes quite often. I finally figured out it is easier to eat if I put it in a bowl and eat it with a spoon. The tiny pieces are supposed to not get stuck in your teeth (they still do with me, just less so than with other popcorn) but they are difficult to pick up because of the size. This kettle corn flavor was actually pretty good, though, and not too sweet.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - coconut white chocolate macadamia cookie

Munk Pack Coconut White Chocolate Macadamia Protein Cookie (2.96 oz) – Buy 6 Cookies for $16.79

This was a little on the dry side, but not bad. I definitely enjoyed eating it. Probably because the whole cookie has 2 servings, for a whopping 360 calories. That’s the equivalent of like two protein bars. I didn’t notice the coconut so much; this was a nuttier-tasting product to me.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - zippy pops coco crunch supersnacks

Made in Nature Figgy Pops Choco Crunch Supersnacks (1.6 oz) – Buy 4.2 oz for $4.99

I didn’t tell my husband what these were and he immediately picked out the fig. These weren’t too chocolatey, they were mostly dried fig balls, but that is not a bad thing in my opinion. These had a soft texture and weren’t too sticky (don’t know why they said “crunch” in the name).

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - Jimmy Bar

Mini Jimmybar in Super Hip Chocolate Chip (23g) – Buy a 24 Pack for $29.99

These show up in subscription boxes all the time. If you like fruit-based energy bars, you should definitely try them. They have a moderate amount of chocolate but it isn’t overpowering and they’re not messy at all.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - unreal peanut butter cup

Unreal Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup (0.53 oz) – Value $0.69

What a difference a week makes. I got one of these in Love with Food last week and it was completely melted. This one mostly retained its shape. These totally taste like mass market brand peanut butter cups (well, if they were made with dark chocolate anyway) and are a good choice if you’re looking to avoid palm oil from questionable sources and/or milk chocolate.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - double chocolate chip granola bar

Libre Naturals Double Chocolate Chip Granola Bar (1 oz) – Buy a 5-Pack for $5.95

This is pretty small for a bar, at only 120 calories (as I recall). I don’t know about the “double” chocolate chip, either. This had a reasonable amount of chocolate for a granola bar, though, and the texture was on the soft side, which is my preference.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - Brownie

Nature’s Bakery Double Chocolate Brownie Twin Pack (1.3 oz) – Buy a 6-Pack for $4.99 (on sale for $4.24)

These look like they got run over by a steamroller but that didn’t affect the taste. These actually *were* chocolatey (and figgy, too). But I knew that would be the case as I have bought several boxes of these in the past. I am generally a fan of this brand.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - Tasty Fruity Gummies

Tasty Brand Organic Fruity Gummies (2.75 oz) – Value $2.99

These smelled amazing to me as soon as I opened the bag. Very, very fruity. They tasted just like they smelled and, as my husband said, they did a good job with the texture for a vegan product. I don’t eat gummies often because it’s hard to find vegetarian ones, so these were a bit of a guilty pleasure (there’s a lot of sugar in here).

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels

Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels (Vanilla, 3.5 oz) – Value $5.99

I still consume dairy, and ordinarily, I think the dairy versions of snacks are better than their non-dairy competitors, but these, made with coconut milk, actually give dairy-based caramels a run for their money. I think they are slightly less sticky so you have fewer worries about your dental work. If you are vegan or allergic to dairy, these are actually quite a good substitute for regular caramels.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - pure goodness whole food supermeal

Pure Goodness Whole Food Supermeal (1.41 oz) – Buy 12 Servings for $39.99

As with pretty much all powders, this one went into my morning smoothie. It blended better than I expected. (I often don’t find that plant-based protein powders blend very well – too much associated fiber, I guess.) The flavor here was pretty neutral.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - Matcha

Enzo Matcha (8g) – Buy 4 oz for $21.99

This is a small package, about the size of a tea bag, but it is a bright green matcha with pretty much no brown, which means it is a high grade. Also, this little packet has a zipper seal! Anyway, some of this also went into my smoothie this morning (you get a lot more nutrients from eating green tea than from drinking it).

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - dandelion tumeric and hazelnut bars

Teeccino in Dandelion Turmeric – Buy 40 Bags for $17.95

Teeccino in Hazelnut – Buy 40 Bags for $17.95

Teeccino is a coffee substitute meant to be consumed as a hot beverage. It also comes in a package you put in a drip coffeemaker and I like that style better than the tea bags, though the tea bags are convenient. My personal preference was for the hazelnut out of these two flavors.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - overnight oats blueberry vanilla almond

Dave’s Naturals Overnight Oats in Blueberry Vanilla Almond (2.1 oz) – Value $3.49

I handed this off to my husband because 220 calories in oatmeal is about 70-80 calories more than I like to have (lost 45 pounds last year, now I have to keep it off). He ate it as a hot cereal (there are overnight instructions on the side as well as instant instructions) and said it was good but skimpy on the almonds.

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - arya curcumin

Arya Cucurmin Radiance (12 fl oz) – Buy 12 Cans for $41.88

This is a toxic sludge yellow color. It is lightly carbonated and has a berry flavor. It only has 5 calories in the whole can. This was much better than I expected (didn’t taste like vitamins at all) and the whole can was gone before I knew it. The cucurmin is great for its anti-inflammatory properties, too. (I couldn’t find this in stock anywhere so here is an old Walmart page that at least puts a sale price on it.)

Vegan Cuts Snack October 2017 - snack bag

Allermates Reusable Snack Bag – Value $5.99?

This is the first time I’ve received a non-food item from Vegan Cuts in the snack box but this seems appropriate. I do feel that I go through too many plastic baggies for the snacks I take to work and I may get a couple more of these. The zipper works well and these can go in the dishwasher or washing machine. This one isn’t on the Allermates site, but the going rate for this size of bag seems to be about $6.

Verdict: This month’s Vegan Cuts Snack Box had 17 items (I’m counting both Teeccino bags as one item) for an average value per item of about $1.35. I think this was a really good month. There were a LOT of items in the box and quite a few were new to me. This month definitely catered more to people with a sweet tooth (that’s me) and didn’t have many savory snacks. Some of the packages (Cocomels, fruity gummies, etc.) were really generous sizes, too.
