This premium box was curated by Tony Hawk! The monthly booklet features a note from Tony Hawk himself explaining his love of Japan and how the Hawk family got hooked on Japan Crate. There are two full pages that showcase the snacks that you will receive in the premium box with a fun little description. Flip through the booklet to learn more about the bonus items in your box, see the Hawk family visiting the Coris Factory, get your DIY kit instructions, and follow the Hawk family on a visit to Japan!

I love Tony Hawk so I am excited to get snacking on some of his favorite items!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0013 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0014

Coconut Star Cookies - Value $2.88? (pricing based on similar items)

The booklet notes that these are considered a healthy food. I can sort of see that, but you do get a lot of creamy sweetness from the coconut flavored outer shell. The star cookie itself is sort of like a rice chip, crunch, and airy goodness. I still am not a fan of coconut, once you open the bag you are hit with that strong coconut smell. My son loved these cookies though so he is happily going to hold onto this bag of star cookies for himself!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0015

Sour Lemon Gum - Value $1.18

These little gummies have a somewhat hard outer shell that breaks open to give off that super sour flavor! They sort of tasted like lemon heads to me, which I loved. The hard outer layer quickly turns into a chewy gum that you can snack on for a while. A fun little treat with an awesome packaging that really pops!

Onion Puffs - Value $3.00? (price guess based on similar items)

These little puffs were so good! My first thought when I took this bag out of the box was how cute the graphic was, according to the booklet Tony Hawk felt the same way! I would say that these are a mix of Funyuns and cheese puffs. You don't get an overwhelming amount of onion flavor, but just enough mixed with a nice saltiness. This snack is the perfect savory little puff.

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0019

Fire Ice Coffee - Value $2.00?

I think I am the only person that doesn't like ice coffee, I like my coffee hot! Even though I don't love an iced beverage, I thought this was really delicious! It was already sweetened and did have a light spice to it. It was not short of caffeine by any means, this big can gave me a huge boost of energy. I could see myself drinking a lot of these if I had a whole case!

Ginza Rusk - Buy 60 boxes for $22.74

I received a box of these rice cookies in a box a few months ago, and I have thought about them at least once a week since then. I am not kidding! These cookies are so light and fluffy with a tiny crunch. They have a white chocolate and vanilla flavor that is so addicting. I ate the whole box and am dreaming about the next time I receive this snack in another box!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0022 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0023

Edamame Baked Chips - Value $2.19? (price guess based on similar products)

Edamame is the perfect snack, and this allows you to enjoy the flavors in a crisp form. Edamame without the cleanup of shells! Each crisp is so crunchy and has a light salt coating that makes these so addicting. They really do taste exactly like edamame so nothing fake here. I am not a big savory snacker, but crisps like this are a snack I can really get behind!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0024 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0025

Kumamon Umaibo Corn Soup Stick - Buy 30 for $8.27

I have received my share of umaibo sticks, and I have only tried one that I actually liked. These are just so unique and I usually am never able to figure out the flavors I am tasting. This is listed as a corn soup which makes sense because I was getting a ton of sweetness. The corn must be what provided the sweetness and creaminess to emulate the soup. That would be my guess. Overall, this one wasn't the worst flavor I have tried but I didn't love it.

Heart Chiple - product is discontinued

Maybe it was the fact that these chips are heart-shaped or maybe I just love the flavors of steak and onions. Either way, I absolutely loved these! I'll say it again, I am not a savory snack person, but these were sweet like a steak sauce with a bit of savory from the onion flavor. So much to love in one bag!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0028 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0029

Picola Mango Yogurt - Value $6.03? (pricing guess based on similar products)

I received these in a snack box a while ago and loved them, I still do! The crispy wafer stick is so sweet and always a win in my book. The flavor of creamy mango is so sweet and fruity. I love eating these with my morning coffee.

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0030 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0031

ABC Message Cookie - Value $0.58

Another item that my son absolutely loved! These cookies were soft with a bit of crunch. A sweet vanilla flavor makes these comforting and delicious, very similar to an animal cracker. I love that they have the alphabet on them, which made snacking fun with my son!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0032 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0033

Pompompurin Milky Lollipop - Buy 1 pack for $0.99

The packaging on this snack is so much fun and what a sweet surprise to find a petite lollipop inside! I thought this would be a fruity flavor, but instead, it was a rich vanilla. It tasted like a cream soda almost!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0034 Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0035

Fujiya Home Pie Cinnamon Roll - Buy 38 pieces for $14.49

I honestly thought this was going to be a mini pie when I first looked at the package. Instead, you will find more of a cinnamon cookie. It was crunchy, nothing like a pie, and had a thick sugar coating. As you continue eating, each piece basically melts in your mouth leaving such a lovely sweet cinnamon flavor. Such a yummy treat!

Sumikko Gurashi DIY Flan - Value $3.35

This snack made me realize something, I have never had flan before?! Is that weird? This DIY kit is super cute and basically how you make a brownie in a mug. It was super easy to make, you really just combine with milk and let cool in the fridge for two hours. You use the stamp on the mold to get this fun little creatue and then pour the syrup over. I was worried that this wouldn't taste good or even like flan since I know it is usually made with a lot of eggs (this obviously was not), but what I found was that this was delicious! Sweet and creamy like a pudding and the syrup was just an added bonus.

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0039

Summikko Gurashi Gum - Buy a pack of 60 for $24.50

I absolutely loved the label on this gum! It was almost too cute to eat. The gum was a little hard but overall had a wonderful fruity flavor. I love receiving little pieces of treats like this because they always seem to make something as basic as a piece of gum so fun!

Tony Hawk by Japan Crate Box September 2017 - 0040

Bird House Fidget Spinner - Buy a similar fidget spinner for $4.00

Last but certainly not least was this awesome fidget spinner! It is not like the other fidget spinners out there, instead, this is a skateboard. This design is Tony Hawk's take on the whole fidget spinner craze. My friend's kids are really into collecting these so I will be sharing this with them!

Verdict: I was really excited to see that this premium box by Japan Crate was curated by Tony Hawk! My husband grew up watching him skate and always wanted one of his exclusive skateboards so this was really fun for both of us to open and taste test! I always love when a snack box features a detailed booklet and I especially loved that it showed the Hawk family in Japan and their story behind why Japan Crate was a great fit for them to curate. I did notice that I am missing my fifteenth item in this box, the booklet notes that it was going to be a lollipop. The premium box costs $30 a month, which calculates out to about $2 per item if you receive the full fifteen. Finding these exact snacks online for sale was a little tricky, but based on the size and similar items I think the value of each item is right on par! The fun thing about Japan Crate boxes is that it really takes you on a journey from sweet, savory, and snacks that you probably would never try normally. Having this month's box curated by Tony Hawk was just that added bonus!

I love this month’s box but I’m missing the lollipop too. Ginza rusk was my favorite of all, yummy😋
