Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Referral

There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of other inserts relating to themes, products, and there was a card about their referral program, as well.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Buffalo

Loving Pets It’s Purely Natural 100% Pure Dried Buffalo (2 oz) – Retail Value $2.99

Although this brand is usually good, this treat was not a hit with my crew. It is freeze-dried buffalo (I guess?) in flat sheets that are way, way too big for a cat to eat. Sneaky bit it and then looked at me like, “OK, now where’s the treat that I smell?” This was out of stock pretty much everywhere but I have linked to a site that does give a retail price.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Fish

Vitalcat Freeze-Dried Minnows (0.5 oz) – Retail Value $4.99  (on sale for $4.45 here as of 10/27)

This is a brand I’ve actually bought (they have freeze-dried rabbit that Mr. Kitty can eat), and I think it’s a good brand, but my cats also don’t like freeze-dried whole fish. I’ve received this exact item before, in another box, and my cats wouldn’t eat it then, either.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Tail Spinner

Petlinks Crazy Tail Spinning String Cat Toy – Retail Value $18.99 (on sale for $8.17 here as of 10/27)

Angus liked the string on this. This was pretty heavy, though, and as soon as a cat started pulling on the string, it would fall down from wherever it was attached (there is a suction cup on the back). I couldn’t get the tail to spin but a further investigation required a small screwdriver to open the battery compartment and I have no idea where my husband keeps those. I figure I’ll worry about the battery once I can get this to stay attached to a door or piece of furniture without falling down.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Toy

Companion Cat Toy: Duck with Feathers and Bell – Retail Value $4.99?

Feathers are always a hit at my place and this had a lot of them. Bells ensure that Angus will find the toy in the bedroom in the middle of the night. This was a little on the large size compared to your average catnip mouse, but not too big to for Angus to toss around. This packaging is so generic that even a Google image search wasn’t working to find this item, so I estimated based on similar items I’ve received in other cat subscription boxes.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Cape

Red and Black Cape Costume – Retail Value $9.89?

This did not have a brand name or a tag or a label of any kind on it. Quality-wise, it is definitely skimpier on the materials and not as well-made as the small dog costumes at Target (which you can also put on cats). On the other hand, who leaves cat costumes on for so long that durability is even an issue? I actually got every single cat to wear this for a picture. I found what looks to be the same item only on eBay and from third-party sellers on Amazon, so take that price with a grain of salt – it seems high for the quality of the item.

And now the gratuitous cat photos you’ve been waiting for:

Aaaaah, I can’t believe I got this on him.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Sparkles

This was the best picture of Sneaky I got with the cape. She started backing up (as if that would slide it off her) as soon as I put it on. I’m lucky she didn’t disembowel me.

Pet Treater Cat October 2017 Madison 2

I got the cape on Madison too.  I love the look on his face in the first photo.

Verdict: I calculated a retail value of around $42 for the October Pet Treater Cat Pack ($30.49 with sale prices). That’s quite a respectable value for a $12.99 cat subscription box, even considering that the treats were not well-liked by any of my cats. It was almost worth it just for the cape – I can’t believe Angus put up with that.  I’ve only received this subscription for two months so far, so it is hard to make a recommendation – last month was nearly perfect for us, this month less so. We will see what November brings.

Monkey’s been a little surly lately. Not sure why. But it is totally coming through in pictures of him.

I vowed I wasn’t going to be one of those people who dress up their pets, but I got SO much amusement out of the simple little costume. A great addition, especially since it’s something I would have never bought myself.

My cat adores the freeze dried minnows, and I also got freeze dried salmon instead of the buffalo treats. These are great because my cat is on an RX diet, and these haven’t given her any intestinal troubles like other treats do.

Instead of a duck, I got a white chicken version of the feather toy that has been a hit, but I think this definitely needs supervision as my cat has already pulled out a couple of feathers. I also got these crinkly mouse toys that have a bit of elastic in them that my cats have not responded to at all. Which is odd, because they usually like loud, crinkly toys like that. So one miss, which isn’t bad – this is my first box that I got for free, and I think I’ll continue to subscribe if the quality keeps up.

Well I took the plunge yesterday and got this sub. I only added 2 of my 4 cats when checking out since it asked me to add additional cats. I didn’t realize it was adding additional costs when I did this at first. Since they’re offering 50% off I just added 2 cats not only because the additional costs per cat but I was fearful they wouldn’t send enough items for 4 cats. From what I read on the site I will receive a welcome pack for my first shipment so I suppose I won’t be receiving the items in this review??? I kindof hope I won’t because seeing that your cats didn’t like most of the treats. I don’t think it would be any different with my 4 kitties.
I am impressed though with the amount of items you received! Kindof makes me wish I would’ve just said I had 1 cat!!!
Guess I’ll soon see how this sub works out for my cats!

I meant to say in the review — and I will next month — but for every cat you add, they add an additional $12.99 charge! I went through and added 5, but I didn’t need 5 of the same box, so I backed out again.

We have that Crazy Tail Mouse toy and it had a loop to put it on a doorknob where my cats attack it and/or decide it’s too terrifying.

Ragan

I didn’t notice the loop but I will go back and look again. I am a little hesitant to leave mine alone with string as there have been some incidents (Monkey eats hair elastics and Sneaky ate dental floss once; thankfully there were no issues, but I am extra vigilant now).
