Papergang is a monthly stationery subscription box from quirky UK design team, Ohh Deer. Each month they partner with a different artist and have a theme to bring you paper goods and desk accessories.

They always have really stellar packaging designed special each month, and the back has a paper cut out craft (a Meerkat!) designed by Daniel Randle.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Papergang

The Cost: About $14.44 USD (10.95 GBP) + shipping. Discounts available for 3, 6, or 12-month prepaid subscriptions.

The Products: Each month you'll receive a box full of papery goodness. The product selection will vary, however, it will include the likes of greeting cards, notebooks, desk accessories, and art prints.

Ships to: the US and Canada for $6.48 USD, UK for $3.86 USD, Australia for $7.79 USD, and Worldwide (shipping costs vary)

Good to know: Papergang partners with Tree Aid to make sure that for every four boxes they sell, one tree gets planted in the African Drylands, which helps with vital food and income.

Papergang has a new format for their info card. It now comes in the form of a little zine which has an interview with the featured artist (Natasha Durley) and all sorts of info on referrals. Subscribers also always get 10% off at the Ohh Deer shop!

Giftwrap - Listed Value $2.31 USD

The pattern here designed by featured artist Natasha Durley is truly stunning! You'll recognize it from the packaging this month as well, and it repeats in other items throughout. I am super into the dark colors she used for the jungle scene with pops of neon and light grey. Look closely and you'll discover all sorts of fauna and flora hiding within the dense detailed pattern. Single sheets of wrapping paper are hard for me to use because they seem so special, but this would be so nice to wrap something spectacular in.

Coaster - Listed Value $3.89 USD

The second reoccurring pattern you'll see in this box has colorful birds gliding across a pale pink background. This single coaster has a textured plastic top with a cork base to keep your hot and cold drinks from ruining beautiful wood or slipping around. Natasha's illustration style reminds me of collages in the way she mixes patterns and colors.

A4 Deskpad - Listed Value $10.48 USD

I am so excited to receive such a beautiful and useful item! As you may know by now, I prefer analog note taking to typing, so this is perfect for me to keep at my desk to jot down what I need to accomplish each week. The jungle scene from the box and gift wrap makes an appearance here with some flowers and trees popping out from behind the muted spaces to write. It's been broken up into days of the week, doodles, notes, and to-dos.

Stickers - Listed Value $5.21

I was only supposed to receive three sheets (as listed on the package), but lucky me, I got four! The birds in flight from the coaster make a triumphant return in sticker form. If you've read my reviews, you know how I feel about stickers (LOVE). I am especially drawn to the snowy owl that didn't fully make it to the coaster.

Greeting Card - Listed Value $3.30 USD

You'll always receive a greeting card in each delivery of Papergang, so you'll have to do less shopping around a special occasion. This one is blank inside so you can use it for any event that may require PARTY TIME. A birthday, an anniversary, congrats on any ol' thing! Again, Natasha has used bright neon lettering against the dark bold colors.

Another thing you'll always receive is a riso printed monthly calendar (for the upcoming month)! They don't put a value on this, so you can chalk it up to a bonus! This will be posted up next to my Gemma Correll riso calendar from last month.

Verdict: Papergang was really awesome this month! Natasha Durley has a gorgeous, unique illustration style that I am happy to now own. I'm glad they gave us a lot of different items instead of just notepads, though the deskpad was certainly my favorite!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but you can still nab October's box!

Value Breakdown: At roughly $20 USD for this box (including shipping), I received just over $25 USD of completely exclusive items designed especially for Papergang. 25.19

  • Giftwrap: $1.83
  • Coaster: $3.09
  • Deskpad: $8.32
  • Stickers: $4.14
  • Greeting Card: $2.62

Does anyone else on the US West coast subscribe to Papergang? If so, how quickly do your shipments arrive? I got my first box in about 2 weeks. I thought my 2nd box got lost in the mail but had them check on it and it eventually arrived but it took almost a month (longer than their 21 day shipping estimate). Now I’m waiting for my 3rd box and it’s been almost 3 weeks since they shipped it. I think it’s strange how quickly the 1st box got here compared to subsequent boxes. I really like their products but wish they had an expedited shipping option or a way to automatically look up tracking.

I’m a little confused about the timing of this sub. September’s box comes in October, and so on? The “next month’s” calendar is for November, which would make me think that this is October’s box… I’m curious because I’m interested in getting this sub but would want to know if I would have to wait a whole month to receive it.

I totally understand your confusion, Michelle. It’s strange timing!

They ship their boxes at the very end of the month (they shoot for the 21st), so since it comes from the UK, I usually don’t receive mine until early the next month.

For instance: They shipped this box the last week of September, so I got it in early October. Since they know you are getting it after the month has started, the calendar they include is for the following month (November) so that you can have it ahead of time.

Right now, their website says that if you subscribe TODAY, you will get October’s box. It should start shipping in a few days!

Hope this helps!

Did they give any kind of spoiler for October?

Hey Sharon! So far I think they’ve only shown the box for October and said that the items were designed by their very own team at Ohh Deer. You can see the box on their site or Instagram!

Thank you Marne! I looove reading your reviews. And not just for this sub. Keep up the great work!

I subbed to this box for 3 months. I think I’m just not hip enough for these items so I cancelled. Great items, just not for me.
