Myvitamins One for All (90 tablets) – Buy 30 Tablets for $4.55 USD (£3.47)

These don’t have quite as much packed into them as typical American multivitamins (in particular, no bulky minerals), but as a result, they are a lot smaller in size, and I know a lot of people don’t like swallowing enormous vitamin tablets. What these do have are the following: vitamins A, C, D3, E, and three B vitamins (niacin, thiamin, and riboflavin).  I think these are particularly useful if you don’t get as many fruits and vegetables as you would like.

Myvitamins Coconut Oil (30 softgels) – Buy 30 Softgels for $3.81 USD (£2.90 (not available for purchase in the US)

I consume a lot of coconut oil on its own. I kept to a low-fat diet to lose 45 pounds last year and when I reached my goal weight and decided to add more fats back into my diet, throwing some coconut oil in my morning smoothie was an obvious choice.  If you don’t have a lot of time for making smoothies or baking with coconut oil, but want the nutritional benefits for hair, nails, and quick energy, these capsules could be convenient. Please note, there is gelatin in the outer shell so they are not vegetarian.

Snact Apple and Raspberry Fruit Jerky (20 g) – Buy 5 Bags for $5.24 USD (£3.99)

This contains only whole apples and raspberry puree. The main selling point on the manufacturer’s website is that by buying this, you can prevent food waste (by not letting fresh produce rot). The package is also compostable. One bag is a little over 50 calories and has no added sugar. The texture was pretty typical for dried fruit snacks of this type and the tartness was just about perfect.

Deliciously Ella Energy Ball, Coconut and Oat (40 g) – Value $2.09 USD (£1.59)

This was gluten free and vegan. It is primarily a date ball and has the texture you’d expect of one, but it also has some oats and seeds. I enjoyed this one. Of course, there are US-based snacks that are similar, but it is fun to see what is popular elsewhere in the world.

Deliciously Ella Energy Ball, Cashew and Ginger (40 g) – Value $2.09 USD (£1.59)

The ginger was apparent here and was the first thing I noticed. This otherwise had quite similar ingredients to the other energy ball. These held together well and I like that you get a little fiber from the oats.

Nakd Lemon Drizzle Raw Fruit and Nut Bar (35 g) – Value $1.17 USD (£0.89?)

This one wasn’t available from the Myvitamins shop, so I gave it the same value as the strawberry one (see below). This was more of a sweet lemon, like with lemon bars, than a tart lemon.  Overall, I thought the flavor was nice and a bit unexpected (but in a good way).

Nakd Strawberry Crunch Raw Fruit, Crunchies, and Nut Bar (30 g) – Value $1.17 USD (£0.89)

This is a smaller size of bar but honestly, sometimes I only want about 100 calories instead of the 200 that you see with most bars. The crunchy parts are made from soy and of course, there’s also plenty of dried fruit and a few cashews in this. This did taste mostly like strawberry, which was nice.

Trek Cocoa Oat Protein Flapjack (50 g x 2) – Value $2.76 USD (£2.10)

If you have ever subscribed to Graze, you will be familiar with this style of flapjack (which is a bit different from how the word is typically used in the US). It is more like a bar cookie. This one had a chocolate coating, as you can see, and you could definitely taste the oats. The chocolate melted a bit but it was nothing some time in the refrigerator couldn’t fix.

Myvitamins Organic Chia Seeds (300 g) – Value $4.27 USD (£3.25)

I get a lot of chia seeds in food and fitness subscription boxes. I have two primary uses for them: (1) in smoothies for some fiber and healthful fats and (2) soaking up excess water in instant oatmeal if I have poured too much in. So far, I have used these in a smoothie and they worked pretty well. Chia seeds are kind of spendy at Whole Foods so I am happy to get these; they seem to be of good quality.

Beefit Biltong Air Dried Sliced Beef (35g) – Value $2.63 USD (£2)

I can’t comment on the flavor or texture of this one because of course it is not vegetarian.  I put it on the free snacks table at work and someone snapped it up quickly, though.  This is dried, cured beef produced by a process originated by indigenous people in South Africa.

Verdict: The September 2017 MyVitamins Snack Box is approximately $27.54 USD and included 11 items, which works out to $2.50 per item. Some of these things obviously cost a fair amount more (e.g., chia seeds, multivitamins, beef), plus you are receiving snacks and other items that you don’t see in the US or in other snack subscription boxes. I don’t subscribe to any international snack boxes because, as a vegetarian, I worry about ingredients lists. But that’s not a problem here – everything was in English and almost every item in the box was something I could try. Overall, I thought it was a fun experience to try these snacks and I appreciated the variety of items.
