I like that they remind you to stop and find a quiet place to open and explore this box with intention. It definitely helps me appreciate the significance of everything.
The first piece of information is a list of “to-dos” that incorporates each item inside the box.
Finally, there’s a beautiful, colorful card that explains the significance of the featured moon of this box—the hunters moon. According to the card, the moon signifies themes of taking advantage of abundance (such as the dwindling daylight) and getting as much spiritual nourishment as you can in preparation for the coming winter. Part of that is letting go of things that will just weigh you down. Letting go of what no longer serves you is a recurring theme in a lot of these kinds of “celestial” boxes. It’s harder than it looks, but I’ve found it helpful to check in with myself every now and again about whether certain “burdens” I’m carrying can actually be let go.
Let’s check out the stones in the box! I’m guessing at the values based on what prices I’ve seen for similar stones online and around town. Let me know in the comments if I’m way off—I definitely don’t want to over or undervalue a particular stone!
Optical Calcite – Value $1.00?
This is the tiniest little stone! It’s only about an inch long and looks like a piece of ice. This stone is great for inspiring the imagination and finding clarity.
Amazonite – Value $2.00?
Next up is this toothpaste-colored stone, which is just slightly longer than the piece of calcite above. This stone is said to inspire bravery, adventure, and curiosity. I’ve got a few trips planned for the coming months, so perhaps this stone will motivate me to take advantage of all the new experiences I can!
Black Kyanite – Value $3.00?
This stone is just over two inches long, but it’s also super skinny. The texture is really interesting—it’s almost like extremely fine bark. This stone is known to inspire consistency and a sense of grounding.
MoonBox Tea – Value $5.00?
Every box includes a little cardboard tube of loose-leaf tea. This blend, inspired by the hunters moon, contains brahmi, chrysanthemum, fennel, gentian, holy basil, lavender, and marshmallow. The fennel really stood out to me amidst the floral notes, and earthy, herbal flavors. The flavor really does taste like fall—not in the pumpkin spice sense, but in a crunching-leaves-on-a-forest-path sort of way.
MoonBox Full-Moon Essential Oil Elixir Rollerball – Value $25.00?
Previous MoonBox rollerballs have been valued at $25.00 and being that their site is currently under construction, I’ll value this rollerball the same way. This scent is more decadent than I expected! There’s a sweet quality to it—the ingredients list is lavender, white sage, vanilla, mugwort, lime, vetiver, and frankincense.
Ritual Moon Ritual Detox Mask – Value $2.00?
This is just a sample size of this mask, and while it doesn’t have a weight listed on it, I think it’s just a single-use amount. Since the full-size jar ($16.00) has around eight uses in it, I figure that this little container is probably worth about $2.00. I love clay masks like this one—when it dries, I can feel my skin tighten a bit, which might not mean anything, but always makes me feel like “wow, something really is happening!” If anything, I wish it had some more exfoliating power, but I love the natural bentonite clay, charcoal, amethyst, and essential oil ingredients list on this refreshing, skin-cleansing mask!
There’s no size listed on this candle, but a 50-hour version is listed on the Jax Kelly site for $22.00, so I assume this is worth about half that.
This candle actually has a crystal buried inside it, though, if you can’t tell, it seems to be wayyyy down at the bottom of the candle. I’ll check back after I’ve used all of the 25 hours of burn time and let you know what it’s like, haha! The scent of this soy wax candle is lovely—it’s sweet and citrusy with a pop of floral blossom. I’m not sure what the exact scents are since that’s not noted anywhere, but I do really like it.
Verdict: This was a great little MoonBox! I love the presentation of this box—it always feels special to open and explore. The face mask and candle were a fun, rejuvenating combination. Face masks always force a bit of stillness, so I appreciate having it in a box focused on mindfulness and patient intention. Plus, the detoxifying nature of the mask is perfect for letting go of what’s not serving my skin, hehe! I do wish the crystals were a bit bigger, but I love the diversity of what I received. Plus, the aromas and flavors here were lovely.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. According to the site: “Subscription closes 8 days before the day of the full moon.” The next full moon falls on November 4th, so be sure to subscribe by the 27th of October to receive the November box!
For $31.50 (cost + shipping), I received what I estimate is about $49.00 worth of product. That’s a savings of about 36%. That means I spent approximately the following on each item:
- 3 crystals – $3.86
- Tea – $3.21
- Essential oil blend – $16.07
- Face mask – $1.29
- Candle – $7.07
