Teacup & Saucer, India - Listed Value $15

This teacup and saucer set was made by the artisans belonging to The Village Experience ceramics cooperative that helps their artists earn a livable wage (which isn't always easy to come by). Even though this set doesn't match my usual kitchen aesthetic, I can appreciate the simple hand-painted green lines that wave across both pieces. That same green coats the rim of each item, against a natural cream ceramic. Both pieces are dishwasher safe, which is a must when it comes to modern dishes, but I wouldn't pop these in the microwave.

Fair Trade Organic Green Tea, Sri Lanka, (16 individual pyramid sachets) - Listed Value $5.99

I have a soft spot for beautiful tea bags, and these fit the bill. Each of the 16 biodegradable pyramid sachets is filled with full tea leaves instead of your average grocery store teabag that uses scraps to fill their cotton bags. This tea is also part of the Equal Exchange cooperative which ensures that the tea is fairly traded. That means that the small farms that produce the tea are getting paid fair wages in exchange for their product, unlike a lot of mass-produced imports. The tea itself is light and earthy. I don't care for too many flavors battling it out in my tea, and this one keeps it simple. I'm also happy to see that they have clear brew instructions listed to ensure the quality of your tea time.

Rosewood Tea Box, India - Listed Value $25

Wow- another beautiful rosewood item from India! If you checked out my review for the other October box offered from Globein, you saw the gorgeous compact mirror carved from rosewood as well. This item has more hand-carved mastery in the form of a tea box! Even though I am more of an avid coffee drinking, I find that I always have a ridiculous amount of tea on hand for evenings and guests. This generous sized wooden box has plenty of space to store copious amounts of tea in style and grace. The lid tips open with brass hinges and has a small inner latch to keep gently closed.

Hand-Stamped Tea Towel, India -Listed Value $15

I love tea towels. They instantly bring a bit of class to the kitchen with their delicate air about them. The weaving collective who has produced this particular towel also happens to have the certification known as the Social Accountability 8000 Standard. That means that this was made in a place proven to be a healthy, safe environment that is discrimination-free and wages paid to employees (many women) are livable in which they are guaranteed a limited workweek. When you gaze upon this beautiful woven towel that was hand-stamped with its delicate floral design, you can be sure that you're promoting a higher quality of life that not all people in Karur, India have.

Verdict: The "Tea Time" GlobeIn Artisan Box this month came with four items for the ultimate tea lover. Since these are all handmade (or organically grown by small farms) items, their price tags are a bit higher than your average mass-made item. The total listed retail price of this box comes to $61, which is $11 over the $50 cost of the box (after shipping). My Mom is a real tea enthusiast, so I am thinking of saving this whole box to gift her this holiday.

I absolutely love this box! Ended up buying 2 from the shop (vs the subscription) and it’s definitely worth the $60 bucks! Gifted one to my mom, an avid tea lover who raised me on supporting fair trade. My box has a teeny hole on the lid, which bummed me out. But I also really don’t care since the box is still absolutely STUNNING. I am in awe of its craftsmanship and intricate details. This isn’t just a decor box, it’s fine craftsmanship and art. The tea has such a soothing flavor. The cup and saucer are adorable, and surprisingly sturdy. Globein is at the top of my wishlist if I ever can just buckle down and subscribe. Also, I love that globein’s leather products are from naturally deceased animals. I can be decked out and guilt-free.

The tea towel is lovely as well, and much bigger than I thought it would be. Any tips on how to wash it? I was thinking hand wash with some kind of gentle, natural soap?

Just FYI – you shouldn’t put unsealed tea bags in that wood box. You are supposed to put unsealed or loose tea in an airtight container that blocks out light kept in a cool dry space.

I love that tea box. Hopefully GlobeIn adds it to their shop!

I’m thinking it probably will be in a few weeks. I didn’t get this theme this month but the tea box was offered as an add-on (at a discount) and I made sure to snatch one up! So since it was offered as a separate add-on, I’m thinking it will probably show up in the shop too.

Tea towels only stay this color if you NEVER use them for their intended purpose, haha.

Oh, I hear ya! Most of mine get ruined if I actually put them in the kitchen…

I’ve often wondered if anyone actually uses tea towels as actual towels. I’ve gotten a few of them now in various boxes and I probably would get mad if I put them out and someone actually used it as a towel (for fear of staining) so I’m not even sure what to do with them. The only one I’ve “used” so far is a Gingiber one I ordered purposely because the dog on it looks almost exactly like mine….and it’s framed and hanging in my bedroom! LOL.

I used to feel the same way until I realized I had like 20 decorative tea towels that I never looked at… Now I use them all and get them filthy and wash them in hot water 😀 Seriously, I’m not passing them down to my grandkids, I believe they’re meant to be used, and I’m messy!

I put a tea towel under our hot drink station where we keep our keurig, sugar, etc. My husband is not always neat at 5 a.m. when he makes his morning coffee, and the towel keeps sugar from making that awful cement-type mess on the counter. The towels sometimes get stained if one of us spills a little, but I think it adds to their character!

I’m interested in just the box if anyone has one to swap please let me know!
