Cuddle Crate October 2017 Box

Cuddle Crate
3.3 overall rating
4 Ratings | 3 Reviews

Cuddle Crate is a monthly subscription box for pets. You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig). You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bi-monthly box if monthly is too often for you.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Bronze Level Cat subscription for $29.95 a month.

Good to know: You may have noticed there was no August review for this box. Cuddle Crate moved locations and had problems getting some shipments from vendors. The August box got delayed to the point where they decided to cancel it and refund subscribers’ money. They kept everyone up to date with emails and the refund did actually show up on my credit card not too long after they said it would, and without extra prompting from me.

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Value Pack

Vo-Toys “To My Cat” Value Pack – Retail Value $8.89

I couldn’t find any of these specific Vo-Toys items for sale online, but I did find them on a wholesale site with suggested retail pricing, so that’s what I’ve linked to and taken values from throughout the review. This value pack reminds me of those big packages of cat toys you get from PetSmart around various holidays and I’m totally OK with that because my cats love those toys. Hard rattle balls are a Monkey favorite (I like to put them in the bathtub and watch him bat them around).

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Tricksters

Vo-Toys Tricksters – Retail Value $2.09

At first, I thought this was a 2-pack of toys, but it’s actually one toy – a mouse with a ball for a tail. This is a lightweight catnip toy that is an appropriate size for Angus to toss around, or sometimes I can drag it across the floor and get someone to pounce on it.

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Mice

Vo-Toys “To My Cat” 3 Pack Mice – Retail Value $3.19

Catnip mice are great, basic toys.  Of course, as the youngest, Angus gets the most out of these, but sometimes Monkey or Madison or Sneaky will also take a liking to one. (Madison’s favorite toy the year he was a kitten was a Halloween catnip mouse so these bring back memories. He is 10 years old now!)

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Dangler

Vo-Toys “To My Cat” Goofy Danglers – Retail Value $3.59

These come in assorted designs. We got this witch, but the bat is also pretty cute. Angus and Sneaky love dangly toys. Interestingly, here, they were both mostly into the string rather than the toy. (But you know cats – they like the cardboard shipping box best of all. Well, and Angus was pretty excited by a LIVE WASP he caught in the house the other day.)

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Treats

Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats (chicken, 3 oz) – Retail Value $6.99 (found on sale here for $3.99)

These are crunchy treats that are supposed to sort of clean your cat’s teeth as s/he eats them. They are a bit on the large side and difficult for a cat to eat quickly (I have learned this with Sneaky) but just fine if your cat doesn’t try to inhale them.

Gratuitous cat photo time!

Angus liked the string on the danglers.

He also liked these treats!

It’s OK, Mr. Kitty.  You go right on back to sleep.

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Monkey 2

Monkey in the bathtub with the rattle balls. It is difficult to take pictures of this activity. Yes, the tub has cat hair in it. (It is much larger than the capacity of our water heater so we don’t actually use it for baths.)

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Sneaky 4

OF COURSE Sneaky likes the treats.

She also found the string from the dangler pretty awesome. (Don’t tell her she and Angus find the same toy fascinating…)

Cuddle Crate October 2017 Madison 1

Madison wasn’t in the mood for play, but he sure liked the treats. Kitty tongue!

Verdict: I calculated a retail value of $24.75 (less using a sale price) for the October Cuddle Crate for cats box. That is lower than the month-to-month cost of the box by around five dollars. Everything in the box was a hit with at least one of my cats, but I would like to see at least one more item to round out the box and increase the value a little. Also, for what it’s worth, there may be more value in one of the mixed-pet-type packages. You can also save a little money by signing up for a longer-term subscription.

I loved this review but of course Ragan I love all your “cat reviews”! I have 4 kitties & I recently subbed to that new cat sub for 12.99 a month I can’t remember the name of them right now but I’m sure u know who I’m talking about! Kindof wishing I would’ve got this one instead because it always seems to be a big hit with your kitties. I haven’t received my first shipment yet so I guess I’ll soon see!
