Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription. The original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and general health supplements, and they also offer a Weight Loss box that focuses more on diet products.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Bulu Box Weight Loss, $10 a month, box.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017

Bulu Box has changed their information cards again, as well as the boxes. You’ll usually get quite a few coupons, bits of product literature, and other paper inclusions in this box. This month I received a coupon for Hello Fresh. Check out our reviews to learn more!

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Napz

Napz All Natural Short-Term Sleep Aid (60 veggie capsules) – Value $17.97

Lately, I am falling asleep on the couch at 9:30 PM so I don’t really need a sleep aid. However, I go through cycles of sleeping well and then not sleeping well, so I will save this for the “not sleeping well” times. This is vegetarian and does NOT contain melatonin (thankfully). It is some fairly gentle herbs like chamomile and lemon balm and hibiscus that you find in a lot of teas. This product was also included in this month's Bulu Original Box.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 KCup

Coffee Blenders Lean Cup Dark Roast (1KCup) – Value $1.30 (buy 10 for $12.99)

As you may know from my other reviews, I am not a coffee drinker. I also don’t have a Keurig machine (so I can’t give this to my husband to test). I am sure there is someone at work who would like to try this out, though. I will be putting it on the “free snacks” table.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Serum

MD Intimate Restore Sample – Value $1?

As far as I can tell, this is skincare for intimate areas. It is not a good time of the month for me to test this out and I’m not sure how I feel about using skincare for that area, but it is good to note that you will sometimes get adult or sensitive products in this subscription.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Fish Oil

Wiley’s Finest Wild Alaskan Fish Oil (1 softgel) – Value $0.23 (buy 60 for $13.76)

I can’t take fish oil because it’s not vegetarian, but in general, I definitely recommend getting omega-3 fatty acids to fight inflammation and lower your cholesterol. There are vegan/vegetarian algae-based EPA and DHA omega-3 supplements, but if you are not vegetarian, this could be a great option. This product was also included in this month's Bulu Original Box.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Burn Blend

Shapeologist BurnBlend (2 capsules) – Value $1.10 (buy 60 capsules for $32.99)

This is supposed to increase your metabolism. I am on blood pressure medication right now, though, so it is probably not a good idea for me to take this, personally. However, this is definitely a product consistent with a weight loss subscription and you should expect to receive items like this from time to time.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Synodrin

Synodrin Arthritis and Muscle Relief Gel (0.14 oz) – Value $0.70 (buy 3 fl oz for $14.99)

This is specifically marketed for your joints, but I don’t have joint pain or arthritis.  I do have some muscle pain in my leg as a result of breaking in some new workout shoes, and this was about as soothing there as something like Bengay. This product was also included in this month's Bulu Original Box.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Tea

Miracle Tree Moringa Green Tea (1 bag) – Value $0.28 (buy 25 bags for $6.95)

Miracle Tree Moringa Ginger Tea (1 bag) – Value $0.28 (buy 25 bags for $6.95)

Miracle Tree Moringa Mango Tea (1 bag) – Value $0.28 (buy 25 bags for $6.95)

I have had lots and lots of this tea in the past.  I am not really a fan of the flavor of moringa but I find that the fruity ones kind of cover up the moringa taste, so the mango (which I’ve had before) is my favorite.

Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2017 Truvia

Truvia Sweetener (2 packets) – Value $0.12 (buy 1000 packets for $58.77)

There were also two packets of Truvia. I am not the biggest fan of stevia (I actually like aspartame…) but this stuff is OK in Crio-Bru (cocoa beans you put in a coffee machine) along with some milk, so that is how I will use it. This product was also included in this month's Bulu Original Box.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $23.26 for the October Bulu Box Weight Loss. That is definitely above the cost of the subscription, even if you are paying full price. I felt that the items this month (at least some of them) were more related to weight loss, though the intimate moisturizer was a bit of an oddity.

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB599 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Points redemption has changed lately to be not so great (following the examples of Love with Food and Birchbox, I suppose) but I will be OK with that if the boxes continue to have high value in the long term.

How does this even count as a review? You tried like two of the seven items. Can someone who actually will use these products review this box, please?

Okay now I will cancel- that box is not worth even $5. What a waste. Bye bye Bulujunk!

Skin care ‘down there’ is a must! Exfoliation for ingrown hairs, proper moisturizing for smooth skin and odor maintenance! People may not realize, but simetimes if there is a smell, it is from dry skin rubbing off in your clothing in that area. I wouldn’t say one needs the same level of care as for more sun exposed areas like your face, but it is definitely part of a healthy body regimen, especially when you work out a lot.

My husband is a coffee drinker and is picky about it! He said this cup is totally tasteless, just brown water! So just cut open the top and put the grounds into your plant pots or garden soil! =P

The K Cup wasn’t even compatible with my Keurig- and it’s a newer machine. 🙁

Apricot

It worked just as expected in our Keurig which is about 1 year old.

I am guessing they got a lot of those for free or cheap so they put them in the boxes. I know plenty of people who don’t have Keurig machines and others who have opted for Nespresso or other systems so pods like that are going to be hit or miss whether anyone can use them. I think that is kind of the nature of this subscription, though.

I think the newer machines are more restrictive about what they will accept (they want you to buy *their* pods) and that if you are interested in trying random pods, your best bet is to go with an off-branded machine that accepts a range of pods (I used to have a nameless Chinese machine that I would put reusable cups of Crio Bru in that probably would have taken this pod).

She’s right. I have the Bella dual machine (so I can use ground coffee if I want as well) and it takes everything. My sister often gives me stuff her keurig won’t take and it works in mine. I’ve had it for like 3 years and still works like a charm but I’m thinking about using my 50% off coupon to actually upgrade to a Keurig. I’ll probably still keep the bella for those off cups. 😉
