Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription. The original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and general health supplements, and they also offer a Weight Loss box that focuses more on diet products.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Bulu Box October 2017

Bulu Box has changed their information cards again, as well as the boxes.

There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription.

Bulu Box October 2017

Natralia Happy Little Bodies Eczema Moisturizing Lotion (6 fl oz) – Value $11.50

We got an eczema relief cream from this brand last month. I don’t have eczema, and this seems like a kids’ product, but I am having surgery at the end of this month and it seems like maybe this would be a good thing to have around for general moisturizing and itchiness.

Bulu Box October 2017

Napz All Natural Short-Term Sleep Aid (60 veggie capsules) – Value $17.97

Lately, I am falling asleep on the couch at 9:30 PM so I don’t really need a sleep aid. However, I go through cycles of sleeping well and then not sleeping well, so I will save this for the “not sleeping well” times. This is vegetarian and does NOT contain melatonin (thankfully). It is some fairly gentle herbs like chamomile and lemon balm and hibiscus that you find in a lot of teas.

Bulu Box October 2017

Wiley’s Finest Wild Alaskan Fish Oil (1 softgel) – Value $0.23 (buy 60 for $13.76)

I can’t take fish oil because it’s not vegetarian, but in general, I definitely recommend getting omega-3 fatty acids to fight inflammation and lower your cholesterol. There are vegan/vegetarian algae-based EPA and DHA omega-3 supplements, but if you are not vegetarian, this could be a great option.

Bulu Box October 2017

Synodrin Arthritis and Muscle Relief Gel (0.14 oz) – Value $0.70 (buy 3 fl oz for $14.99)

This is specifically marketed for your joints, but I don’t have joint pain or arthritis. I do have some muscle pain in my leg as a result of breaking in some new workout shoes, and this was about as soothing there as something like Bengay.

Bulu Box October 2017

Inca Tea in Cusco Chamomile (1 bag) – Value $0.53 (buy 15 bags for $7.99)

We drink a lot of chamomile tea in my house but this brand is new to me. I found this one to be pretty good (it’s hard to describe the flavor of chamomile but you will recognize it here, for sure, if you are used to it, along with some additional citrus flavors) and relaxing at the end of the day.  I like the pyramid bag, too.

Bulu Box October 2017

Aminovital Rapid Recovery in Blueberry (1 serving) – Value $1.43 (buy 14 servings for $19.99)

We received this in another flavor in either the regular Bulu Box or the weight loss version. I find drinks like this are really good at reducing delayed onset muscle soreness after a workout, although I also find that they make me retain 1-2 pounds of extra water if I consume them regularly. Your mileage may vary. I think I preferred the other flavor I received (lemon) to this blueberry one. I suggest mixing this up at half strength at first because products like this can be pretty strongly-flavored.

Bulu Box October 2017

Truvia Sweetener (2 packets) – Value $0.12 (buy 1000 packets for $58.77)

There were also two packets of truvia. I am not the biggest fan of stevia (I actually like aspartame…) but this stuff is OK in Crio-Bru (cocoa beans you put in a coffee machine) along with some milk, so that is how I will use it.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $32.48 for the October Bulu Box. While I don’t have an immediate need for the two highest-value products, they could be generally useful in the future. Most of the items this month were vegetarian, too, which is important for me (Bulu Box does not promise to cater to dietary preferences/allergies). This is the second month in a row of a very high-value box.

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB599 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Points redemption has changed lately to be not so great (following the examples of Love with Food and Birchbox, I suppose) but I will be OK with that if the boxes continue to have high value in the long term.

I’m giving Bulu another month or 2 then I’ll probably cancel. I don’t need single packets of tea or sugar, and I don’t have little kids or eczema (2 months in a row). I only pay the $5 monthly, but I don’t need all junk- that’s still $60 a year I could spend on something decent.

Got another eczema product for a third month in a row.

Yeah, I got one too. It was spilled all over the inside of the box. Hopefully I will have the review soon.

I got this exact box in September!! I have the weight loss box, and I found it odd for weight loss! I ain’t even went in to look which box I’m signed up for, thought it got switched to regular. I recently had surgery so tried the cream where medical tape had been, and very happy with that. Bulu box made a lot of changes, I noticed there is no tracking number now as well as the point system. I had trouble getting into the new website too.
My October box arrived yesterday. I will post what was in that box.

I received the Napz, Stevia, Fish Oil, and Arthritis Gel as well. I didn’t get the eczema cream, rapid recover, or that tea bag. I did receive 3 Miracle Moringa tea bags (have gotten them before) in various flavors, some women’s intimate gel, and a K Cup that is some kind of Lean Coffee? All in all well worth the $5 I pay each month. Have tried the Napz and it doesn’t do much for me so I may pass it on to a coworker.

I got the same box for my normal bulu as well! I would have loved the lotion instead of the sexual health item 🙁

And Regan, isn’t the points system gone now? You wrote that it’s not so great anymore but I thought it was totally gone

I think if you do reviews you can get entered into a drawing or something. I still haven’t signed up for an account on the new site. I probably should have said “rewards” instead of “points.”

Ragan

That is what I got in the weight loss box (review coming soon).

Oh, I received this stuff in the weight loss box. I’m glad I did instead of the sexual gel!! I guess I need to use the sexual gel so I can get some exercise in and lose more weight then… lol

Hi Ragan! What’s wrong with melatonin?

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

Melatonin gives some people (I am one of them) really vivid, unsettling dreams. So it is not actually very restful for me.

If you are not affected the way I am, it can definitely be helpful.

Ok, thank you. I thought I had missed something on the news.

Michelle

I don’t care for melatonin either. I received this exact box. I was happy with it. I will use everything except the recovery stuff which I can pass off to my sister. I will enjoy the tea for sure. The cream is good stuff as I have a rash from allergies (to everything lol) and it is really soothing and helps with itching. I haven’t tried the napz yet, but I’m sure I’ll get into one of my pacing moods and need a chill pill in addition to my nightly tea routine. I’ve been happy with my last 2 boxes despite my initial disappointment with the rewards system… At least it seems they’ve picked up the value of the boxes lately. I’ll continue with them as long as the value is there! I always read your reviews and they’re helpful!! Thanks, Ragan!
