Papergang is a monthly stationery subscription box from quirky UK design team, Ohh Deer. Each month they partner with a different artist and have a theme to bring you paper goods and desk accessories.

They always have really stellar packaging designed special each month, and the back has a paper cut out craft designed by Gemma Correll herself.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Papergang

The Cost: $14.34 USD (10.95 GBP) + shipping. Discounts available for 3, 6, or 12-month prepaid subscriptions.

The Products: Each month you'll receive a box full of papery goodness. The product selection will vary, however, it will include the likes of greeting cards, notebooks, desk accessories, and art prints.

Ships to: the US and Canada for $6.48 USD, UK for $3.86 USD, Australia for $7.79 USD, and Worldwide (shipping costs vary)

Good to know: Papergang partners with Tree Aid to make sure that for every four boxes they sell, one tree gets planted in the African Drylands, which helps with vital food and income.

I have been eagerly awaiting this Papergang ever since they announced that the featured artist was Gemma Correll! If you're not familiar with Gemma's work, she is a UK based illustrator who is all about pugs, lounging, and drawing hella cute stuff!

I'm super excited for the treasures this month, so let's get into it!

Pack of 3 Pens - Listed Value $10.41 USD

Not only is there one pen, this month, but THREE and they're designed especially for Ohh Deer by Gemma!

The three designs include a pup parade, some sketchy red stripes, and a fun little pattern of bunny slippers, headphones, pencils, and other introvert delights.

I really like that they have sort of mismatched pen lids. Most of the items follow a red color way in this box, but there is pale pink and powder blue mixed in with the pens.

Cute little directions on the back suggest you to doodle or note taking!

I'm very happy with how these pens write, too! The ink flows easily and has a nice point size. They are light years away from a basic Bic.

Sticky Note Pad - Value $4.57 USD (linked to similar)

I am an avid note taker, always jotting down to do lists or leaving notes for people. It features the artist herself (who often appears in her own illustrations) enjoying a large book or magazine.

This little sticky note pad has 100 sheets, so it will take me a while to get through! The best part is that they got the glue right on these. Sometimes they are too sticky, or not sticky enough, and these are purrrrfect.

Made right in the UK!

A5 Notepad - Listed Value $7.79 USD

For anything I couldn't fit on the sticky notepad, I now have this large notepad that features a giant Gemma with a striped shirt that creates the lines to write on, as her pug looks up at her from below. I have endless "Stuff To Do", so this notepad will keep me on-task.

It doesn't say how many sheets are here, but I'd say about 100 since it looks comparable to the other. It's A5 size, which means it's just under 6 inches across and 8.25 inches high.

Gemma doesn't look too pleased about all the things she has to get done.

The pug is very unsure about her.

Set of Stickers (4 Sheets) - Listed Value $5.17 USD

The four sheets of stickers come in a super cute vellum envelope that makes it feel super special!

It has a special Gemma Correll sticker to seal it as well.

The sheets include random cozy illustrations of some common things like a teapot, socks, a remote, and some books to name a few.

Even though I love her pug drawings, I love to see some kitties in the mix as well!

Couchella Greeting Card - Value $3.27 USD

Gemma strikes me as the ultimate indoor kid, so this card is the perfect illustration of that and reminds me a lot of myself. Just replace the pugs with cats, and that is exactly what I was doing last night.

There's a little bio about her on the back of the card that is just too cute, and the card comes with a matching red and white striped envelope.

Riso Printed Calendar - No Listed Value

The last item that Papergang and Gemma have graced us with is the monthly calendar. It has the same illustration from the A5 notepad and will go up right next to the one from September on my cork board.

Verdict: I am pleased as pie that Papergang hooked up with Gemma Correll this month, and the result has my office drowning in cuteness! Everything was designed specifically for Ohh Deer/Papergang so I took the listed values to heart and converted them to USD to get a value of $31, which is much greater than the cost of $20.92 ($14.34 + $6.48 USD shipping to the US). The only thing I'll say is that I would have liked to get one different item instead of two notepads, but I will gladly use them both.

Next month's artist is going to be Natasha Durley!  I'm not familiar with her work, but I like what I see on her site!

Ohh deer! This would have been *The Perfect* gift for my bestie’s upcoming birthday. If only I had ESP and had ordered this fabulous set before the cutoff date.
Back to the drawing board … and maybe start work on that time machine.

This box was a miss for me. I love Gemma Correll and signed up as soon as I saw she was the featured quest artist.

One of the issues for me is the illustrations. They are really cute but don’t feel accessible to me. It seems like only a subset of subscribers will really “connect” with them. I know this is often the case for lots of subscription boxes, I just wish I had been one of the ones the box felt catered to.

I also don’t like the color scheme. I recently picked up Gemma Correll’s book of illustrated puns so I was hoping that, like in the book, there would be lots of colors.

That said, everything is high quality and will get used. The illustrations are certainly very cute and the product variation is excellent.

Let me know if you want to swap anything! I adore Gemma Correll (as a fellow pug owner)

Holly,

I’d be happy to send you the whole box for free if you will email me your mailing address. I’m pretty sure the shipping box has been recycled but everything else is intact. I will send you her illustrated pun book and some non Gemma Correll greeting cards if you’d like, too. I believe they are all from Nicely Noted and Happy Mall from a year or two ago. I’ve used a few but mostly they are just taking up storage space in my closet. Most still have matching envelopes. I won’t be able to mail until September 15th.

My throwaway email is [email protected]

That’s how I felt about last month’s box. It was my first month of this sub and it didn’t speak to me at all. I’m glad I like this month’s box but I can see where not everyone would. I have high hopes for next month regarding colors.

Oh, I so hope September is a WONDERFUL match for you. I cancelled my subscription because after the Gemma Correll box it became obvious to me that there are too many variables that might make it incompatible with my personal style. I still think that the monthly box is a fantastic value and that getting adorable stationary in the mail is so fun. I just have my own particular hangups that make it not a practical subscription for me.

This stuff is too stinkin’ cute!!! #couchella 😀

Looks really cute!
Sad I missed the cut off date to get this box.
Also, just want to say that your review is the reason this box is on my radar!
