MPOWERD Luci EMRG Inflatable Solar Lantern – Value $14.95

First up this month we get the Luci EMRG Inflatable solar/USB powered lantern! I actually have a different model from MPOWERD that doesn’t have the USB option, so I was pleasantly surprised by this new model! The EMRG weighs in at just 2.5oz, so clipping it to your pack on a backpacking trip is hardly noticeable. I love that it takes nearly no planning to charge it up during the day. It can be charged by solar rays in about 8 hours, but if you are in a rush and need to charge it before being out all day, you can also charge it by the USB port. When I’m hammock camping, I usually clip one of these either at the center of my rainfly to light up my lounging/sleeping area, or on my straps to light up a corner of the site. Now, I won’t have to choose between one or the other!

BLDG Active Repair Hydrogel – Value $29.99

Next up is an item that is completely new to me. Active Repair Hydrogel from BLDG is a 100% natural, non-toxic, antibiotic-free gel that you can apply to cuts, scrapes, sunburns and many other skin irritations. It will kill 99.9% of all bacteria in the area in 15 seconds. The secret ingredient is Hypochlorus, which is naturally produced by white blood cells to help naturally kill bacteria. I was skeptical at first, but I applied this to a cut on my finger and it did indeed heal fairly quickly. It’s not infected, so I guess it killed the bacteria around it. I was surprised at the cost as it ends up being worth about $10 an ounce, but this is definitely a case where a little goes a long way. I will definitely be adding this to my first aid kit and I think it will last a good while.

Uncle Bill's Silver Gripper Tweezers – Value $6.11 on Amazon (Listed Value $8)

Finally this month, we get this nice set of stainless steel tweezers from Uncle Bill’s. Any camper knows it’s good to keep a set of tweezers in your first aid kit. You are going to get a splinter. It’s going to happen and you’re going to hate it and you’re going to need that splinter to go away. These tweezers have a very fine point and should be able to grab most splinters that come your way. They could also be great for tick-removal as long as you know what you’re doing - don’t leave the head in there! I like that they have this little clippy keychain loop too. The tweezers are small enough and light enough that I could probably keep them on an everyday keychain, though I will likely either toss them in my first aid kit or potentially tie the loop with some paracord and duck-head knot it somewhere easily grabbable.

Verdict: Nomadik stuck to the theme and curated a nice little Camping Essentials box this month.  They promise “up to $50 worth” of items in each box, and based on current internet prices this month comes out at $51.06. I know I’ll be getting use out of everything here - I’ve already gotten to use the hydrogel to great effect.

What do you think of Nomadik this month?

Uncle Bill’s silver grippers tweezers are amazing! They are great for splinters, tweezing eyebrows, etc. I always panic a bit when I misplace my pair (well, my husband’s pair that I snitched to use myself ;)) until I find it again.

That said, those tweezers would probably be the only item I would be really excited for in this month’s box. I’m not sure it’s one I would subscribe to due to the price point, but it is worth keeping an eye on in the future since my husband loves hiking and camping.

I have entered the contest on IG. It isn’t clear to me if they are actually giving out prizes and picking winners. July was my last month and I don’t think I will renew without a good coupon and I have been with them since box 1. Right now I am maxxed out on knives, solar lights, sunscreen, salves, hammocks, bandanas, and travel mugs/flasks! Really- how many do I need?!

Interesting, yeah I haven’t been able to tell from their Instagram if they are posting the winners publicly or just reaching out directly.

I want to love Nomadik but they just aren’t there yet… I let my sub go after a 3 month trial and so far no regrets. The value doesn’t seem like it’s there compared to other subs. My husband really likes his Cairn and Cairn Obsidian but this one didn’t speak to us.

Out of curiosity I looked up the ointment and couldn’t find reviews about that product, but other products using Hypochlorous Acid have good reviews, but that $30 price tag makes me roll my eyes a little…

Definitely agree on the price tag, I am hoping the bottle lasts a long while. I think it will, 3 oz is a lot when you only have to use a little bit to get the job done. Thanks for reading!
