BuddhiBox Review September 2017

Each month's BuddhiBox includes a card with an inspiring mantra on the front and info about the contents of the box on the back. It was nice to know a little more about the items I was about to explore, and I decided to pull them out of the box in the order that they were listed on the card.

Hippie Homesteader DREAM Essential Oil Blend - Listed Value $16 (Buy a similar blend for $10)

This essential oil blend's tagline is "rest and restore," and after reading that it's a mix of lavender, bergamot, cedarwood, and clary sage, I expected its scent to incite exactly that. I found the most potent, standout scent of this blend to be the lavender, though the other notes are definitely detectable if you know what you're smelling for (I say that because my husband said he could only smell the lavender, but I picked up on a more textured scent). This oil mixture is nice and thick, meaning to me that it isn't "watered down" with glycerin or another thinning agent (which is consistent with what its label reads). It rolls on smoothly and the scent delightfully lingers!

This essential oil sets the tone for the entire box: dreams are the theme this month. While I've never kept a dream journal, I do tend to have really distinct and memorable dreams, and I've also experimented with lucid dreaming in the past. So I was curious to explore what other items might go along with this idea.

Prehnite Nodules Healing Stones - Listed Value $10

I had never heard of this stone before, but its sage green color is beautiful and each piece's shape is so unique! The info card tells that green Prehnite helps you connect to beings on higher spiritual planes, enhances spiritual growth, and connects you to the Divine. The entrance of this stone into my life is very timely because my husband and I recently welcomed in a new housemate who has gotten us thinking and talking about spirituality quite a lot lately (more than we already do). Coincidence? Maybe not!

As for the stones themselves, they have a nice weight to them and a very fine roughness to their finish. They sound deep and soothing when clicked together in my hand, adding to the positive experience of holding them. I'll definitely be keeping these stones handy in the coming month to see where they take me and my spirituality.

Miracle Tree 3-pack Sampler of Mint Moringa Tea - (buy a 25-pack box for $6.95. On sale from $9.99)

I've never tried—nor even heard of—Moringa tea. A quick reference of the info card taught me it's a Sri Lankan tea made with certified organic leaves. The card explains that Morgina leaves contain over 90 different nutrients, including 47 antioxidants and all 9 essential amino acids, which are meant to improve the body's cognitive, neurological, and physical well-being. Count me in! I smelled the tea bag before brewing it to see what I was in for and was surprised to find it had a really earthy scent. Once brewed, the tea tasted very subtle with only a faint hint of mint. It's a lovely, calming flavor.

Real Beauty for a Cause Rose Bath Bomb - Value $5 (info card lists the value as $3)

Bath bombs are one of those things that I always say I'm going to use and then don't make the time for. So, I decided to clear an evening and enjoy my mug of Moringa tea in the tub! This rose bath bomb had an incredibly delicate, nearly undetectable scent both in the packaging and in the tub. I felt its benefits were less aromatic and more soothing to the skin. I was originally planning on cutting this bath bomb in half to extend it over two baths, but it had completely crumbled into a powder in its packaging, so I just decided to dump the whole thing in. To be honest, the powder had lightly dusted every item inside my box in transit, but hey, there are worse things in life. As I poured it into the tub, I found one lone rose petal—or at least I think that's what it was; I examined it for awhile and couldn't figure out what else it would be, so I'm going with that. I thought of it like the bay leaf in a stew. Ha!

The Dreaming Yogi Meditation - Listed Value $10

After my bath, I decided to put on some comfy pants my friend got me in Thailand, grab my Prehnite stones, and listen to this 9-minute meditation about meeting your spirit guide. I've listened to a decent amount of guided meditations before and this one totally stacked up in terms of contents. My only complaint was that it seemed like she was reading the meditation rather than delivering it from her heart. Maybe that's picky of me. Either way, I was left feeling very peaceful and given something interesting to think about as I relaxed into sleep not long after the meditation ended.

BareEthics Serenity Now Massage Oil Sample — Buy an 8 oz bottle for $24.99

One last thing that was included in this box but not listed on the card is this sample packet of massage and body oil. I broke the rules by not using it for its suggested sensual purposes and instead rubbed a little on my forehead and shoulders prior to starting the guided meditation, to help set a peaceful tone. It's a mix of coconut, sesame, hemp, sunflower, and argan oils with calendula extract added in. I thought the argan and calendula were the strongest scents, and overall the aroma was soothing and not overbearing. It actually had a very spa-like vibe to its scent. Again, this oil was thick and rubbed in nicely.

Verdict: I was extremely satisfied with the offerings inside this month's BuddhiBox Essential Oils box and thoroughly enjoyed my self-love evening of using all the products. Regardless of the fact that the items added up to over $40 for a $15.95 box, which is undoubtedly a great deal, I feel that each individual item holds value in that they're all useful and enhanced my well-being (and will continue to). I look forward to listening to the meditation again later this week with my new stones in hand. I also love that I was introduced to some products that I may purchase for myself down the line, the BareEthics Serenity Now massage oil especially. Overall I found this box to be a great success and can't wait to see what next month's box holds!

Awesome review!! I really appreciate all your insight into each item! I do have a question. I to experience very vivid memorable dreams and was wondering after your night of doing these steps included with this sub box if it made any difference in your dreaming that night??

Hey Missy! I’m glad you enjoyed my review – really enjoyed writing it! I must say, I DID experience really vivid dreams after enjoying my tea, bath, oils, and meditation holding the stones. It’s hard to say if this box was responsible for enhancing them because, like I said, I dream pretty vividly most nights, but I’d like to think they did. I also woke up feeling really rested the next morning, which I don’t always after a full night of dreaming.

I hope that helps!
