Detangling Conditioning Spray, 4.5 fl oz. – Value $21.38

This spray is a lightweight leave-in detangler that states it will condition, add volume, and leave my scalp healthy. I will save this for wash day.

Uplift Herbal Facial Steam – Listed Value $15.00

This intends to open and cleanse pores, detoxify and rejuvenate my skin, all the while giving me a spa-like experience in the comfort of my home. I poured 2 teaspoons of the herbal facial steam to a bowl, poured hot water in the bowl, covered my head with a towel and lowered my head over the bowl, allowing the steam and the aroma of the herbs to engulf my skin and senses. I have not partaken in a facial steam in a long time and I could feel my sinuses clearing up, after the five minutes under the bowl. The recommended time is ten minutes, but I could not handle the hot steam after five minutes, though I should have let it cool down a little before I covered my head. This opened my pores and left my skin hydrated. I enjoyed the experience. I took the value from the info card, the facial steam on the website came with other products with a higher price value.

Melting Lip Powder, full size! – Value $19.99

Wow, this went from powder to a somewhat moist lip stain that gave my lips a hint of berry color. I applied the powder to my lips and noticed how it melted onto my lips with a nice stain of color. The product felt somewhat cool when I applied to my lips and the stain went to a matte finish. This melting lip powder in red cherry also can be used as a cheek tint or eye shadow.

Smearproof Lipliner, full size! – Value $13.00

I paired this creamy lip liner in Burgundy 9 with the melting lip powder. I like how nicely the two blended together. I love the formula and it’s moisturizing as well. Also, this can be used all over my lips as a base color.

Lollia Hand Cream, 0.33oz – Value $3.96

This creamy moisturizing hand cream tackled my dry hands and left them soft. I love the formula and texture but the scent is a heavy perfumed smell that is not pleasing to my nose.

Enclosed is a coupon for $10 off your next purchase of $50 or more at Lollia’s website.

Verdict: We Are Onyx Beauty Box has a value of $73.33, which is almost triple the cost of the box. That’s an incredible deal for a $25.00 a month with free shipping. This month’s box was well curated with items for my face, lips, (that paired together) hair, and hands. I appreciate a subscription box that evenly distributes beauty products in their boxes. We Are Onyx sends the best quality beauty products each month. So, if you’re looking for an inexpensive subscription box with the majority of the products full size, this is the box for you!

  1. Got my box today and was amazed! How excited I was to try the powder melting matte lipstick! Very innovative and surprised me. Love it!! First time a lip liner and lipstick worked for me in a subscription box. Usually everything is so chalky and not for my skin tone. Thanks Onyx! You get me!

  2. Great review Nich. I always enjoy your reviews. I think I will check this one out.

  3. Thank you so much for the review! I need to hurry up and check out Onyx.

  4. Thanks for the review, I have never seen a lip powder before. I can’t believe a subscription box in this day and age managed to still surprise us, go ONYX!!!

  5. Such a beauty box, I will try. Can someone please tell me when I have until to order? Thanks

    • “The August ONYXBOX will be available until the end of the month/while supplies last!”

  6. Good Morning Luna,
When I took it out of the vile it was powdery but the lip product adhered to the applicator. I thought I would get powder on me or in the sink but nope. I applied to my lips and it was light and feathery, it melted onto my lips if that makes sense and it gave me a nice wash of color. You definitely have to apply at least 2 coats to get an even finish. I hope that helps.

    • Thanks for the explanation Nich! 🙂 It’s definitely one of those products I can’t wait to see it in action. haha.

  7. That’s so cool they included a lip powder (the first time I’ve seen one in a sub box). I remember reading a few months ago how the lip powders are the newest concept from k-beauty brands, and it’s cool to see Onyx Box is ahead of the sub box game with including these in there ( while I was subscribed, I noticed this happened at times with both Onyx Box & Cocotique… once I received a certain product, then I’d start receiving the same thing in a few of my other more mainstream boxes a few months later). I’m so curious how the lip powder applies though… I’d like to see how it goes from a powder to a smooth lip product. I’m sure I’ll be seeing it in future boxes. 🙂

    • I got an email from Lancome a few month ago introducing their lip powders which come in a tube like their Lip Lover glosses. But expensive so I have not tried one as I have so many lippies and I get a couple a month from my Vanishing Cabinet and Mystic Monthly subs from Notoriously Morbid dot com.

      • I’m sure it’ll be a trending product with the more mainstream boxes in no time. 🙂
