This month’s delivery was a 10 track mixtape themed ‘Metamorphose’.

Instead of the little booklet, this month included a record sized info book. On the front, it details the theme of this mix.

The rest of the information card details each song, with information about the album, artist, and lyrics. At the very end, you’ll be able to read about this month’s artist – they do the gatefold, album, and booklet artwork.

This month’s artwork was just wild – all around – and full of hidden surprises!

So far, I’ve been very impressed with the artwork for each record – this month’s artwork is beautiful again.

The inside is where some of the fun and mysteries begin. Andy actually called me downstairs while photoing this album to let me know that he thought he could feel something under the left side of the gatefold jacket – nothing was mentioned about anything being hidden, but it did feel like something HAD to be there.

We were able to slip this all the way out.

The envelope actually has a card inside, with more artwork.

How cool is this – it’s like a little easter egg – even if it’s just a postcard!

But that wasn’t the end of the fun! There was still a little bump on the left gatefold…

With an Exacto knife, we peeled that piece off…

And found a hidden egg sticker! It wasn’t awesome to damage the gatefold – but it was such a unique idea that we both had a little fun figuring out what exactly was going on!

OK – finally, to the music!

As always, this is custom pressed vinyl and this month featured a translucent red record.

The reverse side features the hatched egg – perfect for the ‘Metamorphose’ theme. The music was a nice little ride too – I particularly loved the very first track, and while I was blown away by the rest, I did enjoy trying out new artists and music – and that’s what I’m loving about the subscription!

Verdict: I have been having a blast with each of my three volumes of Vinyl Moon so far! I love consuming music in all kinds of ways, especially bands I’ve never heard, but there is just something for me about sitting down with a record – that warm tone sets you up for un-pausable music – it just sets a tone that I really enjoy! With that in mind, this brings together two of my worlds in a really fun way.

  1. This was the first month and I absolutely loved it. Definitely a subscription I will keep for a while. It was surprising to me that I loved all the song choices. The vibe was just fantastic and curated to all flow with each other so well. I thought for sure there’s no way I would like all the songs that someone else has put together, but it was just up my alley. And the surprises are a really nice touch, too!

  2. Just subscribed, my dad has over a hundred records but no record player so I just got one – wanting to update his collection with something more me! I’m really excited for my first record! This was the record that sold me so I plan on buying it later 😀

  3. This was my first vinyl moon and I really enjoyed listening to it. I’m a huge fan of colored vinyl and the cover art is super cool. I knew something was hidden but didn’t want to mess up the cover..I’ll keep it in tact so whoever ends up with this after I’m gone can enjoy the surprise 😉

    • I really didn’t want to ruin it either – but we just had to know! Glad you’re enjoying this subscription.

  4. I have no idea about the music, but this is beautiful.
