Enclosed with the selections my stylist, Stefania, chose for me was a crisp envelope. The envelope included a sweet note from my stylist with suggestions for styling, an invoice for everything in the box, alterations info, a shipping label, and tape to use to reseal my box for returned items. I found this all incredibly useful.

Trunk Club July 2017 Women's Plus Clothing Subscription Box

If you read my first review of Trunk Club, the appearance of my introductory box was very different from my second. It was a bit more generic and like any shipped online order, but this time around I feel like I got the full Trunk Club experience! The box is designed to look like a suitcase or designer trunk complete with a handle to use to carry the package. I love the very personalized details in their packaging, especially the note from my stylist and itemized invoice. It was far easier to return with the shipping label sticker this time. This box just felt far more inviting than last month!

Prior to receiving my trunk, my stylist, Stefania, and I chatted about what I wanted for my next trunk. I asked for a bit more colors and bold statement pieces. She then sent me a confirmation of her choice pieces for me via the chat on the Trunk Club app. I had 48 hours to approve the collection and could remove any pieces I disliked. I only removed one dress she initially picked for me. I always try to be open minded to styles so that I can expand my style profile, plus I always like to see what Stefania selects for me!

‘Dark Romance’ Lace Detail Dress City by City Chic, Size LW/20 - Cost to keep $119

I don’t normally gravitate towards the color purple, but this rich eggplant dress is truly irresistible. The dress is 100% polyester; the material had enough stretch for me to get it on at a size smaller than I generally wear. It was a tad tight, but I love the silhouette of this dress. The lace details on the bodice and cap sleeves in addition to the lightness of the dress’s flowy material really add to the romantic vibe of the dress. It is an elegantly sweet number that would be perfect for any formal occasion.

Strap Knit Dress in Black by Sejour, Size 3x - Cost to Keep $99

Most dresses I wear are ones that go slightly above the knee or at their longest the middle of my calves; so this dress was a bit of a departure for me. I’ve never felt that maxi dresses suited me, but this dress is an exception. This dress is made of a soft cotton material and feels like the longest and comfiest t-shirt you stole off your boyfriend to sleep in. This could be a standard black and white dress if it wasn’t for the pattern of the white lines.  I was really surprised by how much I loved this piece; I didn’t want to take it off! I paired it with my standard “Shake Appeal” necklace from Holy Mountain, black jellies, and new silver bracelet from Jewelry Subscription box (review coming soon!) for an effortless yet fashionable look. This is the quintessential summer dress for all your beach party and music festival looks. Also… did I mention it has pockets?!

Medium Julian Backpack Distress by Rebecca Minkoff—Cost to Keep $245

When my stylist sent me inspiration pictures, I saw this bag in one of them and immediately told her how much I loved it. It is even more gorgeous in person. This leather bag is incredibly well made and has a distressed, oil slick look to it that I adore. The silver accents are a great detail that also pair well with the bag. I also really love how this bag is chic, yet so tough all at the same time. To me it is the equivalent of wearing a lace baby doll dress with a leather jacket and combat boots. It would spruce up any basic t shirt and jeans outfit effortlessly.

Crochet Cold Shoulder Top in Khaki by City Chic, Size XXLW - Cost to Keep $69

I could tell by what my stylist sent me prior to me receiving the box that she was really fond of this City Chic top; but sadly, this was one of my least favorite pieces. The light crochet knit felt terribly bulky on my frame and I felt as though I had my grandmother’s doilies hanging off of my shoulders. It was difficult to get each side tied properly and evenly at instances as well. I will say this though: I did like the color of the top. I often am attracted to pieces in this khaki/ olive green color. Sorry, Stefania, this one ultimately was not my cup of tea.

Destroyed Denim Skirt by City Chic, Size 22 - Cost to keep $59

I am not terribly keen on ripped and distressed items, so this is not a skirt I would have picked for myself. The fit was a bit tight, but the denim skirt did have a nice amount of stretch to it. I felt that the slit in the front was awkward for where the skirt hit me as well. I like the skirt more seeing it in pictures on myself, but it remains to be one of my least favorite items in the box this month.

Sheer Plaid Henley Tunic by Vince Camuto, Size 3x - Cost to Keep $109

This top was my favorite out of my stylist’s choices for me! I was surprised I loved this shirt so much because I generally go for tops that I can tuck into higher waist pants and skirts. The shirt is a 100% polyester, but it feels like a lighter cotton/gauze material. I love the sheerness of the material, the mandarin collar, and the sleeveless cut. I was concerned that the top may not go over my hips and posterior without the fabric being stretched awkwardly, but it fit like a dream! I paired it with the black jeans that my stylist hand-picked for me, my chartreuse cat eye glasses, and matching jellies. Go figure that I had a pair that was that identical neon lemon hue; call it kismet!

Black Ab Solution Stretch Skinny by Wit and Wisdom, Size 24 - Cost to Keep $78

I have had Wit and Wisdom in various clothing subscription boxes and I am always impressed by the quality of this brand. I love skinny leg jeans, but black and dark indigo skinny leg jeans are my absolute favorite. They are such a timeless staple piece for any wardrobe The light denim fabric has enough stretch to hug your body in all the right places without it losing its shape. I could easily wear these to work with a dress shirt or with a band shirt for a casual outing. I love the classic look of these jeans, but their versatility is what makes them such a fantastic value.

Light Blue Print Fit and Flare Dress by Adrianna Papell, Size 2x - Cost to Keep $97.99

I feel like I should be going to a Luau or at the very least a great big cookout in this dress. It just screams “summer party” to me! This dress is made from 95% polyester and 5% spandex; I definitely needed that stretch when I was trying it on. The cross strapped back is adorable, but it took me several minutes to figure out how to get this dress on.  I feel like a 3x may have been a better option for me, but I miraculously managed to get myself in this dress nonetheless. As precious as this dress is, I couldn’t justify purchasing it even at its discount price of $97.99 at this time.

Verdict: This box was a vast improvement in every way from my first Trunk Club box! I was really pleased to receive this trunk in the customary luxury packaging that Trunk Club is known for, but more importantly, I really liked the selections made for me this month! I feel that through the communications I had with my stylist, she really applied some of my suggestions. I was happy to get such a vivid color palette of clothes to try on; they felt like they fit my style and personality far more. I probably sound like a broken record, but I always stress the importance of communicating with your stylist; your following boxes will only improve with the feedback you provide. I am eager to see what I get from Stefania next month and in the months to come.

Ashley Jean

Thats so funny you dont like that crotchet cold shoulder top. I absolutely love it on you and want one for myself too!!

Nicole Rieder

If you have a Trunk Box Subscription it may be worth mentioning it to your stylist! She may be able to get it in for you. If not, it is on the site. The City Chic brand is definitely reasonably priced. I am glad you liked it, though, Ashley Jean! Thanks for checking out my review!

Rachel

You have the best style ever, I love your reviews. Where did you get that leather jacket? I’m really looking for a good plus size leather (or faux) jacket!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Rachel, thank you so much! My jacket is faux leather and is from Forever21, but I recently saw some similar ones at JC Penney by their Boutique line. These are on the forever 21 site too: http://www.forever21.com/Mobile/Product/Product.aspx?br=plus&category=plus_size-outerwear&productid=2000139736&curpage=

That maxi dress is amazing. Here’s to hoping it will go on sale!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Ks, OMG I know! I am gonna be creeping Nordstrom for that AND the lemon yellow tunic. I loved them both!

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Everything looks fabulous on you Nicole. You rocked the yellow tunic.

Nicole Rieder

Thank You so much, Laura! I loved it so much!

Elle Em

“When my stylist sent me inspiration pictures” – Whoa whoa whoa, can you tell us more about this? I have had 3 trunks so far and my stylist has never sent me pictures! I feel like I’m missing out.

As far as unsolicited feedback goes, I absolutely adore that black and white maxi outfit on you, as well as the lemon tunic outfit! Those looks are knockouts! I’d love to know what you kept from this trunk. 🙂

Thanks for your great reviews! I really enjoy them and seeing your fun style.

Nicole Rieder

Oh man! My stylist, Stefania, typically will send kind of like dreamboard shots. Like it may be of a model wearing a similar style item or maybe one that will show like music festival pieces. Some of these I see on the Trunk Club app itself. That app is kind of a god send!

And thank You! Your two faves were mine too. I wanted to keep both, but opted to send it all back because I was a wee bit limited on funds. BUT TRUST ME, I WAS SOOOOO TEMPTED. haha. That maxi dress is sooooo comfy. I feel like it would be ideal to wear when traveling too.

Thank you so much Elle Em for reading my review and for your comment! 😊

judy

Totally agree with Elle on this……… ADORE the black and white maxi outfit and the lemon tunic outfit on you!!!!!!!!! …… MUST HAVES……. and of course the Julian backpack completes………. I’d love to know what you keep too!! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Omg, Judy! That backpack was sooooooo gorgeous. I didn’t keep anything due to funds, but I told my stylist I may want her to send me that lemon yellow tunic in the pants in an upcpooming box again. Haha.

Elle Em

Oh, and I also think that purple looks incredible on you with your hair and skin tone. (But I am totally partial to purple and think everything should come in a purple option!)

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Elle Em, you know most of the time I am not big on purple, but J have to agree! That dress comes in red and black too, but the purple is the one I would select hands down! My boyfriend loved this one and wanted me to get It, but I opted not to at this time.

Ellbee

That crochet top looks so good on you, you should rethink that one! It’s my favorite on you out of all of them! The maxi dress is a close second.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Ellbee. It wasn’t my personal fave, but I gotta agree that maxi dress was FANTASTIC. SO COMFY. And the pockets were great on it too!

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

Agreed! I loved that cold shoulder top with the denim skirt the best! Looked great on her!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe thank you, MzBev!

Kc

The clothes look really good on you, I’m impressed with their choices. The outfits really flatter you in terms of fit and design.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Kc! I feel like my stylist really did an amazing job. She picked some ace pieces!

Reply ButtonReply

Letty

I really liked the maxi dress on you. Horizontal stripes scare me a bit but honestly it is very flattering on you! I love how you style everything.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Petty! Most of my wardrobe is horizontal stripes. I legit did my laundry one day and everything was striped! Haha. I just feel like they are so classic and timeless. Maybe try one piece like a striped top with pants or a skirt. I say baby steps! Thank you for all the kind words and for checking out my review!

Reply ButtonReply

Kat

Your least favourite outfit looked the absolute best on you! I saw that and thought, “that’s perfection!” and read down and was so confused when you didn’t like either piece.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe. Yeah, I don’t know, I just wasn’t feeling it on me. But it isn’t to say it isn’t a great outfit that could work for someone else! But Kat, I appreciate all your kind words and for reading my review! It means a lot!

Reply ButtonReply

Bonnie

Lol…your least favorite outfit is my favorite – the khaki top and the jean skirt. Your style is adorable but nothing like mine. I like the slouchiness and ease of that outfit.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe thanks, Bonnie! Yeah, a lot of people really loved that outfit. I know my stylist was most amped on it too! It is cute, but just wasn’t me necessarily. Thanks so much for checking out my review! It really means so much to me.

Reply ButtonReply

TheOtherAmy

I just want you to know that I LOVE the way that you made the Adrianna Papell Fit and Flare dress look so much that I popped on over to Nordstrom’s website to check it out for myself to buy… OMG, It doesn’t even look like the same dress on the website. They need to fire their model because clearly, you wore it better! I never would have given it a second glance on their site had I not seen you wearing it first.

P.S. I love following your reviews, you have such great tastes; very similar to mine.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Omg, thank you, TheOtherAmy! That made my day! I am glad I could at least spur you on yo check out the dress because it is spool pretty! Thank you so much for following my reviews. I love doing the reviews and am so happy you and others are enjoying them too!

Letty

I had to go look….you are right, Nicole wore it better!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Letty!

Michelle

Personally LOVE the crochet top on you. Could be one of the cutest cold shoulder shirts I’ve seen

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe thanks, Michelle! It is definitely different from a lot of the styles I have seen out there this season.

Reply ButtonReply

Tara

I think every piece looked great and very flattering!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe, Thank you so much, Tara!

Reply ButtonReply

Lee

You look gorgeous! I liked everything on you. If I was you, I would buy it all – even if I had to live off Top Ramen and canned tuna for a while.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Trust me it was very tempting, especially since I do like canned tuna. Haha! Thanks, Lee!

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I agree, every piece is fabulous on her!

Nicole Rieder

Awe thank you so much, Michelle!
