First of all, I am a self-professed sunglasses ADDICT. I used to have roughly 15 pair, which is a bit much for a person who lives in Pittsburgh, but they are just an accessory I can't get enough of. I'm not a snob though and have all price ranges of sunnies. From cheap fast fashion to high-ish end designers, I love all of God's creatures and mainly look for a style that complements my face. Recently I have been trying to cut back on how much I own in general, including sunglasses, but couldn't pass up this subscription! Hey, it's only seasonal!

The first thing you do when you sign up for SubApollo is fill out a short survey to get an idea of your style:

I chose female, although I prefer more masculine/unisex styles, so I wonder if I should have gone with male?

I happen to have the roundest face in existence.

I wrote in Alexa Chung. I will love her forever.

Often!

I live to kick back.

Mirrored Pink Aviator Sunglasses

I was shopping with my good friend Emily this weekend and declared that aviators never look good on me, so it makes sense that these arrived just a few days later. 😉

The first thing I noticed about these is that the lenses are the completely flat, which seems to be on-trend right now. I love the look, so I warmed to these immediately.

The lenses are also mirrored, with an array of yellow, green, and blue, but are pink from the inside looking out. They have a clear rubber nose rest that's rather comfortable.

The frames are a light pink metallic metal, with pink plastic at the ears to make them a bit more comfortable. I have a pretty small head, so I was surprised that these fit my face well, and rested at the right spot on my ears.

"Ma'am, do you know why I pulled you over?" I can't help but think I look like a police officer with these on, but I actually do like them. Who knew?

Tortoise and Gold Cat Eye Sunglasses

I'm happy that they included a drastically different style in this box, to ensure that if I didn't love one, I'd most likely be into the other. These are plastic tortoise shell sunnies with a slight cat eye and gold accents.

I'm a fan of tortoise glasses and think of them as super classic. I even have a pair of eyeglasses that are a similar color.

The lenses are a subtle brown ombre that starts dark at the top and gradually get lighter as it goes down. Because of this, they block out a lot of blue light.

The small gold accents at the corner of each side, along with the shape of the frames give this a feminine vibe that I don't normally wear but am coming around to.

I don't hate the way these look on me at all, but they just aren't my normal aesthetic. They looked REALLY cute on Emily though, so if she wants to get her prescription put into them, they are all hers!

Verdict: My first box from SubApollo was pretty great! I think these sunglasses are a great quality, on par with non-name brand ones you could buy at a department store, but for much less. At roughly $8 per pair, you can't really beat the price. It was fun to get styles I normally wouldn't choose, but it isn't so expensive that I wouldn't want to pass the pairs I don't care for on to a friend who they look great on! For a sunglasses addict, I think this is a great buy! I'm really interested to see what comes next season!

The designed picked good lenses for you, you look great. I would have preferred the mirrored lense more mirroring 🙂 without people seeing the eyes through the lense. Do you know if those lenses offer 100% UV protection? Thanks for the review!

They actually are quite mirrored, but the angle we shot with them on me doesn’t show it as well as the photos of them alone! If we shot them straight on, you would just have seen Emily with her camera! Haha.
As for UV protection, that’s an excellent question. They didn’t come with those little stickers on the lenses that normally state as such. I’ll try to find out for sure though!

I’m confused… Is this monthly or quarterly? It says both.
