Stitch Fix Plus August 2017 Women's Clothing Subscription Box

Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you initially sign up, you take an in-depth survey that asks you about your clothing size, personal style, and price preferences. Your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences within the survey. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

This is the invoice that was included. It shows in detail the items selected for me and the brands, sizes, and cost of each piece. The total comes up to $189.25 after all the discounts if I opt to keep everything—that is a $99.75 savings! Nearly saving $100 is an EXCELLENT deal!

Also included is this sheet with a note from my stylist, Candace. She is always rather receptive and thoughtful with the feedback I provide. She knows I am a sucker for most retro vintage 60s era styled items too, as you can see in her note. I really appreciate her constant eye for detail. This sheet also provides suggestions on how to wear the pieces that were sent to me. I really love the visuals on this note too; it really is helpful and inspiring, but most of all shows the versatility of the pieces!

Stella Dress by IXIA, size 3x — Cost to Keep $88

As soon as I saw this dress, I literally ooh and aah-ed out loud. I am a fan of the IXIA brand; I have a cute mustard yellow dress from them that I got in the Mod Cloth Stylish Surprise a month ago. This dress has a fantastic retro mod sixties red, white, and blue poppy print with an equally vintage inspired early 60’s style flared skirt cut. The color combo makes me think of the 4th of July--- where was this adorable dress a month and a half ago?! The fabric is a bit thicker with some stretch and is rather structured. The dress also has fabric that can be tied in the front or back of the dress. What a gorgeous little party dress. It just makes me want to go on a picnic! This is far and away my favorite piece Candace selected for me.

Sandrie Mesh Detail Blouse by Q&A, size 3x — Cost to Keep $54

I love sleeveless mock turtleneck/higher collared shirts like this top. I find them to be so effortlessly cool and elegant. This top is made of a light, breezy Chiffon-like material. There is some stretch, but the cut is pretty ideal so it isn’t that necessary. I adore the basket weave mesh design on the top too, it is such an awesome detail. I paired it with the skirt Candace selected for it, but this could easily be paired with jeans and black pointy heels for a casual yet fierce look.

Robyn Printed Midi skirt by Pixley, size 3x — Cost to Keep $58

One of my major go to items is high waist pencil skirts, so of course, this midi skirt appeals to me as well. The fabric has some stretch and fits well, but it is not terribly lux or high quality. This could be paired with pretty much any black or white top, but also with any color like a vivacious red to bring an extra pop. This entire look is one I would definitely transition into fall with my faux leather biker jacket. It is very chic, but a bit edgy and tough; kind of like Joan Jett meets Joan Holloway-Harris of Mad Men. I can get behind this Joan Squared look for sure!

Aurelio Peplum Detail Knit Top by Loveappella, size 3x — Cost to Keep $44

So far my stylist, Candace, has been knocking it out of the park with the pieces she has selected me. That being said, I am not a fan of this top. Why do you ask? I am not that keen on these mixed media tops; especially this one that is made of t-shirt fabric with a chiffon-like material in the back serving as a peplum. I don’t feel like the top does anything for me. The peplum in the back made me feel like I had a Donald Duck tail. The panel of striped material feels more like an afterthought by the designer to me as well. However, I do LOVE the mustard yellow, slinky t shirt material; it is a wonderful color and the fabric is soft and has great stretch. Sorry, Candace!

Ginia Studs by Gorjana — Cost to Keep $35

I am not a delicate gal by any stretch and I prefer accessories that are bold and big, much like me. I love the asymmetrical gold button earrings because they are a staple piece that can go with everything. These aren’t too light that they are flimsy, yet they aren’t too heavy that they will tug on your earlobes either. These earrings are a perfect addition to any jewelry box and they are a great value due to their versatility.

Verdict: Out of everything my stylist selected for me, I only had one miss. I think that is very extraordinary and speaks well of how attentive and thoughtful Candace is in picking out pieces for me. I feel with each box that her choices are more and more personalized for me and my eccentric style!

All in all, I feel that the $20 stylist fee is beyond reasonable since my stylist always excels with what she selects me (cost also includes the shipping and returning fees) and I can try all these pieces on without having to leave my house and go to a mall! I call that a heck of a deal for the convenience alone.

Sorry I was so late on responding, Sara!

It was so hard sending that dress back, I tell ya.

I am glad you liked the top! It didn’t work for me, but that isn’t to say it won’t on anyone else. I did really like the mustard color of it. Mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors.

Glad you enjoyed the review. Thanks for checking it out!

Nicole you look amazing in everything! I am loving my stitch fix for plus size. Is there a way on the swap site plus size stitch fix could be listed separately? I have a hard time finding any plus size swaps.

Nicole Rieder

Sorry I was so late getting back to you, Kristina!

You mean like a facebook Stitch Fix swap site? Not sure. Never checked it out tbh!

These fashions are not my style but they work well on you, Nicole. What I can’t get past are the ridiculous prices of these items, which is why I ultimately cancelled my Stitch Fix sub.

Nicole Rieder

Awe. sorry to hear you ended up canceling Stitch Fix, Maddie in PA. I do feel for the entire box that the discount they give is typically a good deal, but I don’t always get boxes I want everything from. This box was pretty great, but I ended up sending it all back because I am trying to be frugal.

Nicole, most people don’t get boxes that are so wonderful that they’re compelled to keep everything so, while the 25% discount is a pretty good deal, I have yet to keep an entire box from Dia, Stitch Fix or Stylogic.

I do love the idea of these sub boxes, I just haven’t found one who “gets” me yet like you have!

Stefanie

You really can wear anything girl!! All that stuff looked great work on you- i agree with your dislike of the one shirt though, it was just a weird shirt. I swear one of these days im gonna try some clothing boxes. Im 6ft tall and a 1x so i think i might run into issues with fit however…

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Stefanie! I really loved so much of what Candace selected. She always slays!

You totally should get a sub box. They always have surveys asking your height/weight/size so they can really personalize your box for you in mind. I am sure they will be able to snag you some great finds!

Thanks again for checking out my review!
