Hello Kitty Charm Bracelet – Value $12.49

This bracelet is kind of cute and my 7-year-old said she liked it but she isn’t really into Hello Kitty anymore. I have a hard time seeing the value of this as $12.49 but Hello Kitty items can be kind of expensive sometimes.

Cliccors (nerdBLOCK exclusive) - Value $2.99?

My daughter thought this was kind of fun- a bit like a fidget toy. She used it for a couple minutes but tired of it quickly. It was fun to open the box and see another surprise inside though. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a match for this item online but there were a couple used ones for sale on eBay.

Plants vs Zombies GW2 Metal Lunchbox – Value $9.99?

This is cute but not something my daughter is into at all. Metal boxes are fun but not so functional for our lunches so we’ll give this away. I couldn’t find this for sale any place except for eBay so the value is a guess.

Monster Factory Stay Puft Marshmallow Man – Value $8.99?

The marshmallow man from Ghostbusters is cute-ish. Cira scares easily and is only 7 so she hasn’t seen this movie yet. We’re striking out this month. I couldn’t find this product online either except for an overpriced one on Amazon from nerdBLOCK for $18.99 plus $6.07 shipping.

Power Rangers Water Bottle – Value $18.36

I like that there is both a lunch box and a water bottle in this box but I think these items are not good choices for the girl’s box. Cira didn’t like this item either which is a bummer because it is a high-ticket item in this month’s box.

DesignWare Print Decoration Pokemon – Value $6.89

I guess these are for hanging on the walls but again, Cira isn’t into Pokemon so this isn’t our cup of tea. We’ll have to give these away but we know some little boys that are into Pokemon so someone will be happy.

Despicable Me Minion Key Chain – Value $4.95?

We like The Despicable Me series and the minions are cute, of course. This is okay for Cira, I guess. She wasn’t exactly excited about it. I couldn’t find an exact match for this keychain but I found others that were similar to the price I listed above.

Verdict: My daughter usually looks forward to getting Nerd Block Junior for Girls but this month was a total bust for us. Plus, there wasn’t any t-shirt in this box. I tried to get on the nerdBLOCK website to contact them but couldn't since the website is down. Last month there were problems with mailing too and I ended up not receiving the box at all.

This box $19.95 plus $9.95 shipping seems high for a t-shirt and a couple toys my daughter likes each month and when a month is bad like this one, I’m really bummed. It certainly doesn’t help that I can’t contact them currently either. The July Nerd Block Junior for Girls included approximately $64.66 worth of toys for a $30.00 box (includes shipping cost).

Sorry that your daughter didn’t like the box. If this box was given to me as a child I would have been so happy. (however PVZ wasn’t out when I was a kid) I would have been disappointed in the Hello Kitty bracelet. Not into HK or bracelets. It’s sad that this company is going under. It was really good back in the day.

This was the first box I received and really excited for my granddaughter as this was her first subscription box. We joined in May, my credit card was charged for May, June and July. We finally received the box in July and I think what she got or didn’t get would be OK for a boy. I got no tee shirt either, so I think I have a right to be upset. The money I paid for this box has taught me a very valuable lesson, I won’t be joining any other boxes unless I know the company is reputable. Lesson learned!

I believe that you have a right to be upset. They were a great company. Things happen. This was a surprise to all of us. There are other good companies out there. I suggest Kiwi Crate or Boodle Box for your granddaughter just as some suggestions.

Shawn

Thanks Katrina. We liked this box a lot at the beginning of our subscription but the last 6 months or so haven’t been great. It’s hard to please everyone all the time, right?

I 100% agree. There will always be some duds or bad boxes from time to time. I was just more of a tomboy growing up. I would have wanted the boy box more.

Whatever you do DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS SUBSCRIPTION!!!!;

HOPE THEY STAY OUT OF BUSINESS! THEY ARE CROOKS!

We got the same items, and thought it was strange that it was mostly boy stuff & no t-shirt included. We just chalked it up to being a bust this month, but now I realize what you mean. It just looks like they were getting rid of extra inventory. It’s too bad because this was one of my girls’ favorite boxes.

They are just getting rid of all of their old stock before they shut down. That’s why everything was from random past boxes.

I’m so sorry your daughter had an unhappy experience. From what I’ve seen, she wasn’t alone. I’ve seen tons of bad reviews for this box, and every other Nerd Block box this month. Apparently they can’t pay their vendors so every box was filled with leftover stock. They let employees go and closed their stores. Looks like it’s the end, which is really sad because I was just looking into a couple of their subs.

Yes, that makes sense. The past few months have not been very good. You could tell something was going on with the box.

Thanks for reading and for the info!
