Hi guys! I’m new to subscription boxes and I am more than a little intrigued by the Julep box. I am seriously considering becoming a maven but I have a few questions. I’m hoping you can help. How many products do you get a month for the $24.99? I have a coupon for a free month and will also get the 12 nail polishes, I think..lol. Do you get to pick all products? Do you get to pick your shades? Hows the customer service? Has anyone had a bad experience with customer service, is it hard to cancel if I don’t like?

I’m relatively new to Julep, so I can’t answer about their customer service, but I think I can answer the rest of your questions. Each month, you can receive either three nail polishes, two nail polishes and a beauty/makeup item, or two beauty/makeup items. Everything is full-size, which is unusual for a makeup subscription (most subscriptions send samples for at least some items each month). The other unusual thing about Julep is that it is completely customizable, so you can pick literally everything, including shades and colors, in your box. Each month they release a new collection of nail polish and beauty products, but there will also be past months’ colors and products available to put in your box if you want. On the 20th of each month, your box is opened for editing, and you can swap out whatever you want from the collection they curate for you. Also, if you’re going to subscribe, I definitely recommend doing the 12 polish coupon code – they’re all beautiful colors and a high value as well. I hope this helped! 🙂

Easy skip month for me. Last month was great, but these don’t excite me at all.

Welllll crap… looks like I’ll be getting Hana, Stacie, Lina, Rossi, and the Virgo polish! After a few months of brights, the neutrals will be nice. Also, does anyone know if the fall mystery boxes are all the same? I read the comment that said what colors she got and I LOVE them! Especially Cheyenne.

Sheila

My last mystery box was exactly the same as my sisters. It does say some items may be the same. I’d love to know what’s in the summer but I’m so sick hot, bright colors that I’m not getting more bright pinks and corals. My sister also got her Fall All the Way tonight and it was the same as mine. I’m happy Julep – great value. Hurry they are gone soon.

…and to add, I KNOW exactly what you mean about being sick of bright colors! I loved the July box, but as soon as I did a few looks with what I received, I did a dark mani haha. I reviewed/added a pic on Peyton from the August collection if you want to see it! I’m a neutral or dark polish girl at heart.

Sarah

Thanks! I fortunately ordered the fall box the other day – I can’t wait if the colors are indeed what the other poster commented 🙂

Melanie

I got the fall and summer boxes. Fall same as listed before exactly. I’m my summer box I received three polishes Channon, Flora, and Josie. I also received an eyeshadow stick in taupe shimmer, Its Whipped in Beso, and Skip the Brush blush stick in sheer glow.

Elizabeth

I assume the fall mystery boxes are the same, because I got exactly what the commenter below got.

P.S. I’m wearing Cheyenne right now and I LOVE it. It’s this gorgeous mix of burgundy and chocolate.

I’ve been a Maven since November I can’t resist getting the whole shebang every time. The value is great and I get all the pieces in the collection. Julep has great quality products and excellent customer service. I get about 30 subscription boxes and this is one of my favorites and usually the first to arrive every month. Never issues with delayed shipping like some other boxes and I love the ability to pick what I want to receive.

I get 11 and 3 for my husband. Always looking for another great box. What are your favorites? Heavily thinking about Beauty Heroes.

The nail polish set is the free welcome gift. You don’t get two gifts.

That rose color is gorgeous. I’m not subbed to Julep anymore but if I can pick that up at Ulta, I’m on it.

Sheila

I just got my Fall All the Way box and it’s really great. 3 polishes,an eyeshadow stick, lock down your brows and a matte lip mousse. So, I am skipping my maven box this month, but I do love a couple of those polishes.

Kat

Can you post pictures of your fall box? I just ordered it and am curious what colors are being sent

Sheila

Sorry, I can’t post photos but the polish colors are Cheyenne,,Judy and Darby, the eyeshadow stick is warm gold shimmer and the matte lip mousse is Kiss Me. You can look them up on Julep.com. Hope that helps. It’s $24.99. They also have a summer mystery box.

Noelle

What is Fall All The Way? Curious… 🙂

First time in along time that I’ve been underwhelmed with Julep. Oh well, I might finally be able to skip a month. Who am I kidding? I haven’t been able to skip yet. I will probably just get 2 foundations like I did last month. Truly, it is the best foundation I’ve ever used and matches my skin perfectly.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

Did anyone who doesn’t wear foundation have any luck with the powder from last month’s box? I can’t figure out if I’m doing something wrong or not. 🙁

Erin

The only way I use it without foundation is to “set” my sunblock so it isn’t as shiny. Works well for that.

Definitely skipping this month.

Looks like more of the “ghost shimmer” finish that, as far as I can tell, nobody really cares for.

Oh, I found some! I should’ve just searched for “ghost.” It returned 14 results, including Annalise “Vivid Wisteria Ghost Iridescent” /annalise-boho-glam.html and Lindsey, “Melon Splash Ghost Shimmer” /lindsey-boho-glam.html. It’s so hard to see what special finishes look like from photos, or even from holding a bottle of it. Now I’m curious!

KimberlyB

I’ve been trying to figure out what all the names of the finishes means, and I don’t know “ghost shimmer.” I searched for it on Julep and it gave me a gazillion results, and the 20 or so I looked at were all Shimmer. I was thinking that the 2nd, 5th, and 7th from the top in the pics of each color separately look like they might be holographic colors, which I love. I love regular shimmers, too.

Ghost shimmer polishes sound way cooler than they actually are. They should be called ghost crèmes, honestly. If you go into it expecting a crème finish, they’re alright. If you expect to see shimmer, they’re so disappointing. Most of the time you’ll see some shimmer in the bottle, but 95% of that measly amount won’t show on your nails except under a magnifying glass and direct sunlight.

Another example from Julep is “Scout.” It’s a “phantom” shimmer, but whatever, same thing. The dollop shows shimmer, the nails look like a crème with brush strokes, and the polish looks like a midnight blue satin ribbon through my bottle (literally talking about a piece of fabric here, not a satin finish polish haha). Side note, Scout is 100% midnight blue, not black like any of Julep’s swatches suggest.

A recent and probably still easy to find in stores example is “I Can Never Hut Up” from OPI’s Fiji collection. There’s some light green shimmer in the bottle there, but it’s 92% grey crème on the nails. It’s really the brush strokes that show any shimmer at all.

That being said, I love both of those colors haha. I love my real shimmers, but ghost shimmers are my bffs in situations where only crèmes are allowed (bleh, former job) or when I want to be sneaky with my shimmer. The shimmer is your little secret, mostly because no one will stare at your nails long enough or close enough to notice.
