Fabletics Plus Size August 2017 Women's Fitness Clothing Subscription Box

Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $19.00 for new members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, you are not automatically sent a package each month. You have to go into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Callie Two Piece Set (includes Clara Sports Bra & Salar Capri) in size 3x - VIP Price $59.95 (New VIP member price: $24.95 + $4.95. Retail price $99.90)

When I first started sifting through the many leggings and work out ensembles in the plus size section, I wanted to make sure to not get my standard go to black pieces. I was drawn immediately to this neon palm print they had. The colors are a bit different than what they look like on the site. I was expecting it to be more of a bright Kelly green instead of the aqua shade it actually is in person. No complaints on that, I love the color combo either way, but they may want to show it in a more true to light photo.

Clara Sports Bra, size 3x - VIP Price $24.95 (retail price $34.95)

I was a bit concerned about getting a sports bra without wires, but the combination Polyester/Elastane fabric comfortably holds me in rather well and lends some support. The sports bra has built-in cups that can be removed also. The racer back has a neat mesh detail on it that adds a nice design detail. The top lays a slight bit longer on me than the model. I am not shy at all about crop tops and showing off my mid-drift, but I like the length for functionality purposes more so than fashion.

Salar Capri, size 3x - VIP Price: $44.95 (retail price $64.95)

I was a bit on edge thinking that the pants would not fit me. They looked so tiny when I pulled them out of the shipping plastic that I checked the tag twice thinking I was mistakenly sent a smaller size. As soon as I got them on, though, I found that they were incredibly stretchy and fit my body like a glove. The material is very smoothing as well. Like most pants and skirts I get, I selected the high waist option for these capris. They hit me just right and I don’t feel like they need to be adjusted or that they will roll down and expose my backside. I am really excited to try these out at the gym!

Verdict: I absolutely love Fabletics! The quality and design of these pieces are undeniable, but the true cherry on top is getting a workout outfit for $24 (plus $4.95 shipping)! That introductory outfit price is such an incredible value! I like that there are a lot of similar styles in both straight and plus size too because nothing frustrates me more than seeing something I like in a smaller size and not being able to get it. Us big girls want to throw our money your way too, for goodness sakes! This is only my first Fabletics outfit, but I am tremendously pleased and cannot wait to get a second outfit.

Have you tried Fabletics? What do you think?

It’s so nice to see exercise clothing on a bigger girl! I love Fabletics, but it can be very easy to compare yourself to the models and get discouraged. I like to see how the outfits really fit on different body sizes. Thank you very much for your review! As always, you look adorable! 🙂

I like your fashion style as it is similar to mine. What I admire most is your willingness to share the sizes you are wearing. Not only in this one bit alao in your other reviews. I find that important so plus sizers can get a true feel for the items. That for me was the hardest part as a plus size person. I have lost over 50 pounds and am now able to wear an extra large rather than a 1x. So I truly admire your courage and your confidence in who you are. Keep up the great reviews.

Thanks, Lola!

Yeah, I am forth coming about my size because I am proud of my body at any size it may be.The Body Positive community really helped me with that. I am glad to help others get a feel for what a certain size looks like so it can benefit their shopping experience. Shopping online as a plus size woman is difficult because you never know how things will fit and it certainly doesn’t help when they use models that may be a size 10 when you are shopping for a 24 or even a 16. We need more diversity in size, shape, race, etc to be featured on these sites.

Congrats on your weight loss btw! I hope you are feeling great in the skin you are in! And thank you so much for your comment and reading my review! I really appreciate it!

This looks so comfy and very cute on you! Unfortunately I’m disabled and not able to do the ‘sports bra’ deal but if the leggings are that comfortable this may be an option for me cuz I live in comfy clothes! 😊😉

I have a couple of pieces from Fabletics but lately I find myself not picking up pieces and skipping the month. Why?

The fit. The legging don’t fit me as tightly as I’d like. Maybe I should go down a size but I’m worried that going down a size would mean an uncomfortable fit or (worse!) one that doesn’t fit my stomach right and rolls down.

Outside of their leggings I don’t like any if their other pieces. The bras don’t feel supportive and other non legging pieces I have tried either fit weird (ie picture of loose fitting top is body hugging yet leggings are too big and I am not a different size on top and bottom) or the fabric is supper cheap filling (could be the shorts and jacket I picked were a fluke…).

But the biggest thing is that a lot if times I will see something cute and they don’t have it in my size. And I check and they don’t have it in any if the plus sizes. This has happened often. I won’t settle so when that occurs I definitely won’t pick the much smaller selection Fabletics offers to plus size customers.

Loba,

That is the worst regarding not seeing same things in plus options! I feel that way at Forever 21. There will be a sea of smaller sizes and plus section is like this small, itty bitty section in the back. I feel like the straight styles should be offered in all sizes. All around the board. I felt like, though there were more straight size options, that there were still a lot in plus too. But I am new to this too. I was really pleased. And I am sorry it wasn’t a good value for you and the sizing was wonky because that is just awful. Did you opt to try to exchange any of the leggings with Fabletics?

Reply ButtonReply

Loba

No exchanges. My first order was my worst and I was so excited and it cane in my laundry day so I quickly snipped the tags and washed the clothes (my error their).

The other leggings. I don’t know…they fit a little too loose – heck one day of running errands and chasing my kids and one pair started to slide down. But then I hate when leggings are too tight because they’ll do that unattractive and uncomfortable belly roll thing.

For now I am taking a pause with Fabletics. Two months ago I saw an outfit I liked but they didn’t offer in plus sizing but I saw one I was OK with and got it. Last month same issue but this time I decided: “nope”. I remember when I first ordered I wanted to get some outfits but inevitably they didn’t have the ones I really wanted in plus sizing. (And before that when I first heard about Fabletics offering plus sizes and I checked it out and the first time there wasn’t a selection to indicate a plus size in the questionnaire and then when I checked again there was a paltry offering).

This has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not ready to completely cancel but I’m not going to choose an option that I like because the one I love isn’t offered in plus sizes. If/when I do order again I will double check their sizing (for now I am not stressing over keeping the leggings in the dryer because I hope the shrink a smidge).

Thank you so much for your review Nicole! Do you think these are designed for plus sized bodies or just regular sizes made bigger? I love Lane Bryant’s Livi Active line (they have a top and bottom for $35 till 8/22), but Fabletics has some really fun prints.

I will also to check out LB’s line too! Thanks for the heads up!

Hey, Jann! From the sizing on their site they say they have xxs through xxl. Then they have 1x-3x. True plus would be 1x-3x for their plus sizes. I am typically a 3x and this 3x set fit me like a dream! I hope that helps!
