Organza bags kept the items organized. These were appropriately yellow and blue for summer.
The theme for August is 'Enjoy the Salt Life!' Everything had a summery beach theme.
Custom Made Sea Tote Bag – Listed Value $9.99
This simple cotton tote is perfect for summer. The decoration is a decal, so it might not hold up well in the wash, but it's a cute beachy design. It doesn't look like these are in their shop yet, but Bonjour Jolie promises that 100% of the sale of these bags will benefit the Pensacola Wildlife Sanctuary.
Beach Waves Sea Salt Spray, 8 fl oz. – Value $12
Bonjour Jolie's self-branded beauty items are usually great, so I'm always happy to see them in the box. This is an 'all natural, alcohol-free sea salt spray to add texture and waves without making your hair sticky or drying it out.' I gave it a try and someone complimented me on my hair soon after, which almost never happens! True to the description, my hair didn't feel sticky or crunchy, so I will definitely keep using this.
Advil Pain Reliever, 2 packets of 2 capsules – Value $0.40
Summer's Eve Sheer Floral Cleansing Cloth – Value $0.90
These basics are always included in every Bonjour Jolie box.
Albert's Marshmallow Snow Cones, 2 cones – Value $0.40 (buy 1 bag of 10 cones for $1.99 or 12 bags for $19.95)
These little cones are made in the USA and taste a lot like marshmallow Peeps. They're very sweet indeed – I don't think I could eat many in one sitting, so two was a perfect number.
Tropical Skittles, 2.17 oz. – Value $1.00 (buy a box of 36 for $35.95)
I can never recognize exactly what these are meant to taste like, but they're sharp and fruity. I like the tropical variation.
Salt Water Taffy Mix, 5 pieces – Listed Value $1 (buy 1 pound for $6.99)
A beachy box wouldn't be complete without saltwater taffy! The pink taffy was best – it was a hot cinnamon. I'd never tried cinnamon taffy before, but now I want more of it! These came in their own organza bag.
Chuppa Chups Lollipops, 2 pieces – Value $0.33 (buy a box of 120 for $19.99)
Lollipops are always a welcome addition, and you can't go wrong with chocolate and strawberry.
Fiber One Lemon Bar, 0.89 oz. – Value $0.50 (buy a box of 6 for $2.98)
This Fiber One bar had a nice lemon taste, but it was a little too sweet for me. I can't figure out if it's more of a cake, bar or cookie, but whatever it is, it's not bad.
Swedish Fish, 4 pieces – Value $0.17 (buy a box of 240 pieces for $9.98)
Swedish fish are so cute and cheerful; they're one of my favorite candies.
Adam's Luscious Teas, 4 packets – Value $0.40 (buy a box of 100 for $10.00)
This tea's packaging is packed full of adjectives: luscious, succulent, exquisite, legendary! I had high expectations, but the tea is just ok. Fine, really, but I wouldn't necessarily seek out more of it. The lemon was my favorite.
Verdict: I estimated a value of $27.09, which is above the $16.50 price. With the variety of items, I always feel like I get a lot in this box. Everything about it felt beachy – Bonjour Jolie's curation is always on point when there's a specific theme. I did find myself wishing there was a savory snack to balance all the sweetness, but the cinnamon taffy was a nice discovery.
What do you think of August's Bonjour Jolie box? What's your favorite sweet summer treat?
