Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription box for men. Each month, you’ll receive 3-4 sample size items to try along with another lifestyle item that you can select. The selection process opens about a month before shipping and, typically, allows you to pick 1 of 3 selection items.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Birchbox Man

The Cost: $20 a month ($16.25 a month with annual subscription)

August’s theme was “Time to Redefine” and focused on bringing you new things to discover.

It comes with a card that lists out your items along with their values. The values listed are for the full-size retail price. Don’t worry, I’ll do the math for you to break each one down.

Parcel Supply Fidget Cube – Retail Value $15 ($10 on Amazon)

Each month, Birchbox Man allows you to select one lifestyle item for your upcoming box. This month, I went for something outside of my realm – a fidget cube!

Like the fidget spinners you’ve probably seen all summer long, these are made to help occupy anyone in a number of ways.

Here’s a bit about it from Amazon:

Fidget Cubes are great for all children and adults, but especially those with extra energy, ADD/ADHD, OCD, autism, or high stress / anxiety levels. These toys help promote a sense of calm, reduce stress / anxiety and can increase focus / attention

Liz and I both tried it out – I get that it can be useful, but I’m not sure I’ll use it often.

Brickell Face Scrub – Full-Size Retail Value $22

I’m not sure of the amount in this sample, but I wanted to start with this because it’s my winner of the month.

I used this scrub with my Foreo and it was super cooling with a nice, but subtle, citrus scent. Beyond that, it worked really well – it’s my standout product this month!

Baxter of California Daily Face Wash – Value $1.80 – Full-Size Value – $18

Before trying the above scrub, I also tried this face wash with my Foreo.

If you’re looking for something that is scentless – this ticks that checkbox for sure. While it didn’t have anything coarse in it, it still felt like it did the job pretty well.

Jack Black Clean Break Oil Free Moisturizer – Value $4.33 – Full-Size Value $30

Next up, a White Tea moisturizer.

This one was perfect for my skin, which is oily – this takes an oil-free approach at moisturizing your face using sea kelp and white tea – and it worked very well!

Anthony No Sweat Body Defense – Value $3.33 – Full-Size Value $20

This product is similar to a Gold Bond powered – but instead of a powered form, it’s a tapioca starch. It still is weird to type out!

Here are the two most important details – it does what it says it’s supposed to do, and it’s got a great smell!

Hercules Beard Milk Body Powder – Value $1.27 – Full-Size Value $17

This one comes back to the traditional powder for staying dry.

Again, just think of Gold Bond here – although I’m not sure that Gold Bond uses Greek yogurt in their formula.

Verdict: I’ll use up most of the samples this month and liked getting the chance to try out the fidget cube. While I probably won’t use the cube that much, that choice is totally on me. The samples seemed to be higher value than in past months, couple that with the fact that they now send 5 samples in each box, and the box is becoming my go-to for testing stuff out. But, if you’re looking for full-size products to sample this won’t be the box for you.

What do you think of the September 2017 Birchbox Man subscription?
