Beauty Heroes August 2017

  • MAHALO Skin Care BEAN Antioxidant Mask
  • MAHALO Skin Care Bamboo Beauty Brush

With the lush island of Kaua’i as her backdrop, Maryna, founder of MAHALO Skin Care, drew inspiration from her abundant surroundings to create her latest masterpiece, The BEAN Antioxidant Mask, a robust treatment designed to awaken the goddess within each of us. A rich pot of local raw honey, fresh island turmeric and time-stopping astaxanthin get a boost from organic cacao, green and red coffee beans and organic green tea to create a potent antioxidant synergy that detoxifies, exfoliates and firms, revealing a purified glow.

Organic ginger, clove and cinnamon naturally stimulate circulation and energize cell renewal while an aromatic bouquet of vanilla, honey, cardamom and dark chocolate give this mask its decadence. Taking over a year and a half to perfect, the complexity of The BEAN represents Maryna’s commitment to creating products that not only deliver results, but gift us with an experience worthy of our own natural beauty.

August’s Beauty Discovery is valued at $100.

I have been eyeing this box for a while, and this months feature pushed me to go for it. So excited!! this seems like a versatile mask I can get the hubs to use as well. Mahalo has been on my wish list for a while now. I hope BH feature Khus-Khus during the 3 mo sub.

I’ve been hoping they feature Khus-Khus soon too! (I don’t know why since I’m not subscribed right now. ha!) It wouldn’t surprise me if they’re featured them sometime before the end of this year. For your sake, I hope it’s in the next couple of months too! 🙂

I’d like to see them feature Jordan Samuel soon too!

Oh, and lets not forget to mention the ladies in his (Js’s) recent collabs: May Lindstrom and Jane Scrivner. Would be over-the-moon if either member of this top-knotch crew were featured.

I love love love JS too! No compromise on quality, value or customer service. win-win-win! The Etoile with Retinol is divine, as is Hydrate & Plie. I didn’t think he did 3rd party vendors though, maybe a once off? Would be extra excited if they included his new product launches…

I am phasing out Allure, Dermstore, BoxyCharm, GlossyBox. I’ve now added Pearlesque as of this month. I am seriously considering this box as well. I wish I could just sign up for one month. I’ve noticed a lot of face oils in past boxes and I am not a fan of face oils. Can you skip a box?

Hi ! You can let them know if there types of products you want to opt out of … I as subscribed and I was able to opt out of hair products.

Jane

They don’t have an option to log in to your account and skip but I believe Jeannie has said in the past that you can email them to skip certain ingredients or products and they will keep it on file. So I would check with her to see if you can skip any face oils if that is your only concern.

Hi Zo, with Beauty Heroes there is no option to skip a month. They send a nice mix of products from great green beauty brands. I have had it on and off since November 2015 and IMO there is a nice variety of products.

I don’t believe there is a skip option with this box, but I’m sure if you email them, they’ll let you know for sure. 🙂

Okay, I’m breaking my no-buy rule, and re-subscribing to Beauty Heroes (for this monthly only) thanks to Mahalo being in this month’s box (I love this brand!). I had a feeling they were going to be featured again sometime this year, and I already used a whole full-sized jar of that mask, and it’s lovely. I’ll be finishing the Rare Indigo Balm tonight, which I received in the last Beauty Heroes box Mahalo was featured in, and I’m pretty bummed about that. Thankfully, this will make up for it. 🙂

Just a heads up for those that get this box… make sure to keep the mask refrigerated. Prolonged exposure (i.e. a couple of weeks?) to room temperature will cause mold to grow I’ve heard… due to the natural ingredients.

Thanks for the tip about refrigeration! Had you not pointed that out, I am sure I would have put it somewhere to spoil. Normally I use my oldest stock first, but in this case, I will start using it whenever I receive it!

Luna

I like to sub to natural beauty boxes, so there have been plenty of products I’ve received that state refrigeration is required or highly recommended, so whenever I get one of those products, any other like products get pushed aside, and they’re always the first to be used. 🙂

Connie Lee

Hmmm I buy Mahalo products regularly and they said to keep out of humid conditions like that bathroom – they say their products keep for 6-12 months. I didn’t know about the fridge thing either! I’ve been keeping in my bedroom

Cara

I too am on a no buy freeze. I really want to sub, and I love honey masks. But I just bought the Lilfox mask cleanser from their past box sale (which I love!) so I’m thinking I should hold off on this, especially since I checked shelf life and you’re right, it’s 6 months and keep cold. Your reply helped me hold on to $115 for at least another month!

Luna

The only solace I have is knowing that Beauty Heroes eventually sells their past boxes. Otherwise, I’d be flipping some coins right trying to see if fate says I should get a 3-month subscription. 🙂

Luna

Well darn… I forgot that Beauty Heroes is a 3-month sub, so it’s not worth it to me to re-subscribe right now just for that mask. It’s cool…. I’m sure I’ll see it sometime again in my life…. like when Beauty Heroes sells their past boxes later this year. 🙂
