Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you initially sign up, you take an in-depth survey that asks you about your clothing size, personal style, and price preferences. Your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences within the survey. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

This is the invoice that was included. It shows in detail the items selected for me and the brands, sizes, and cost of each item. The total comes up to $194.50 after all the discounts if I opt to keep everything—that is a $91.50 savings! That is pretty fantastic!

Also included is this sheet with a note from my stylist, Candace. I love that she referenced the Pinterest board link I included in my review of my last box. It really adds to the personalization of the box and her selections for me! This sheet also provides suggestions on how to wear the pieces that were sent to me. I really love the visuals on this note too; it really is helpful and inspiring, but most of all shows the versatility of the pieces!

Navy Rinna dress by Gilli, size 3x—Cost to Keep $58

I swear, there aren’t many prints or styles as classic as polka dot—especially when it is a polka dot dress. Polka dots, stripes, and leopard prints are my neutrals. I feel they can pair well with almost anything! This empire waist baby doll dress is so flirty with the little opening on the back. The fabric is amazingly stretchy but thin enough to be worn in hot humid weather. The texture of the dress’s material feels like that of a light thermal shirt. My stylist, Candace, suggested I pair this with a red bandana. I took it a step further and paired the dress with a red faux leather biker jacket to show how it can translate to cooler weather months. I envision the last ensemble styled with tights and booties for a very crisp autumn weather look!

Alyssa Printed Pencil skirt by Brixon Ivy, size 3x—Cost to Keep $64

I have never met a pencil skirt that I didn’t like, and this skirt is no exception! The fabric is soft cotton material with a raised, almost quilted texture that is perfect for all seasons (which we all know is a big selling point with me. I am all for adaptability!). The skirt has ample stretch to hug your curves perfectly. The high waist and below the knee length are ideal and you will feel like Joan from Mad Men wiggling around in it. I also absolutely adore the vibrant yellow and the navy and cerulean blue damask print that contributes to the retro vibe of this skirt. I love that you could dress this skirt up with the top she chose or even pair it with a different clashing patterned shirt for a more casual and relaxed look.

Amity Peplum Detail Knit Top by Eloquii, size 22w—Cost to Keep $58

A few seasons ago, you could not go anywhere without seeing peplum everything. I have always been put off by peplum since I am a rather hippy gal, but I opted to be open minded and trying this shirt. The fabric is somewhat stretchy, but it is an incredibly structured piece. I absolutely love the off the shoulder cut and the gorgeous detail of the slits on the décolletage. My photographer (aka my cousin) remarked how it looked like something Wanda from John Water’s Cry Baby would wear, and I happily agreed with that observation. This top paired exquisitely well with the skirt (as my stylist suggested), but I can also see this being coupled with tight fit disco pant leggings or capris and a leather jacket if you want to go for that Bad Sandy look from Grease. This top really exceeded my expectations.

Black Juno Small Folded Clutch by Street Level — Cost to Keep $38

My stylist also picked out this very classic bag that will complement all your everyday outfits. The great thing about this purse too is that the chain strap can be removed and convert this from a shoulder bag to a chic clutch. It is like two purses for the price of one! I also like the separated zipper enclosures that keep your items organized and secure. This is a great staple piece and a fantastic value!

Tammi Dress by Pixley, size 3x—Cost to Keep $58

I mentioned in my feedback review to Stitch Fix that I wanted less basic pieces and more statement items. My stylist certainly ran with that comment and hooked me up with this youthful and kitschy sun dress. I love the vivid lemon print—it screams summertime! The chiffon like material of the dress is very light and breezy. One feature I like about this dress is the drawstring at the waist that you can adjust to show as much definition at the waistline as you desire and prefer. This darling dress could be made bold by styling with bright accessories and shoes along with a classic jean jacket, or it could be paired with strappy heeled sandals for a more sophisticated look. The neckline was my only issue with this dress. I liked it and found it flattering, but I would certainly have to go on a Holy Grail search for a new strapless bra if I intend to keep the dress.

Verdict: I enjoyed my first box with Stitch Fix, but this second box was more impressive! My stylist, Candace, really listened to my feedback in my comments and through my Pinterest board. It was evident how much thought she put into the choices she made for me; this box felt far more personalized to me and my style. I am excited to see what is in store for my future boxes!

Cindy

The outfit with yellow and cobalt skirt and black top totally rocks! Everything you’ve shown here looks terrific. You have great style. <3

Letty

I liked all her choices but that skirt and top was fabulous & very flattering on you! I love Stitch Fix because they go with your style but also send pieces I would not necessarily pick out on my own.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Yes, Letty! Me too! I love that it forces me to be more open minded!

Sarah

Love that lemon dress on you!
I just switched from Wantable to Stitch Fix this month and my plus size fix was spot on. I hope it continues as the first box is usually the roughest.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Sarah! Yeah, this is my second box and I was really impressed by how spot on the selections were for me tbh! They really aced it. I have never heard about Wantables, but now I am super curious!

Jennifer

This is my favorite review you’ve done do far. Your stylist really picked incredible pieces. I love every outfit. I love the colors avd the cuts. You remain flawless and I love your nails!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Alex! My stylist really hit the nail on the head with this one, I must agree. I sent the box back, but I may ask for that top and skirt before my next box. Ya never know. And thank you! My mom said my nail color was “putrid.” Pfffft! hahahaha

Tee

You have great style. The pieces are cute, but I loved everything after you styled it.

Loba

Wow! I think Stitch Fix hit it out of the park with this box. It’s hard to choose a favorite outfit. They’re all look great on you.

I love the red jacket paired with the polka dot dress. I never considered polka dots as a neutral before but I can see it now. And I love the dress with those sunglasses (I want those sunglasses!).

The peplum and pencil skirt slightly edge out the dresses a little bit. I think partly because having nice separates really opens up possibilities but also partly because the paired look is so sexy and fun. I definitely saw some va va voom Joan action written all over that look.

Major box envy over here!

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Loba!

Aren’t those sunglasses awesome? I got them when I was out in Oakland, CA for Burger Boogaloo. I can’t remember the seller’s name, but if I find it— I will relay it to you! She had some really cute stuff. I got a bunch of vintage enamel pins from her too.

I love separates too because there are just so many options and it is a great value! But the colors in that skirt were fantastic and that outfit definitely made me feel like I should be blaring “Femme Fatale” by the Velvet Underground. It is such a sassy and timeless outfit!

I feel like the best thing I did was creating a pinterest. I didn’t have one till like a month or two ago. My stylist really utilized it so well!!!

Thanks again, Loba! I always love hearing from you!

Lola

Your style matches mine for the most part. Different coloring of course. But it is nice to see a creative and non-conservative plus sized look on this site. MSA is expanding to include those of ius who have felt left out. In terms of the items in this box, I would have kept the polka dot dress, the skirt and top combo. You made the lemon dress chic with the denim jacket but that dress is not for me. Thank you for sharing not only the items sent but your individual style.

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Lola. I am glad you appreciate my reviews! I feel like there are so many different styles and visibility is so crucial in the plus community. I know for me when I joined Tumblr years ago it lit a fire in me and made me realize I can dress however I like at any size. It was very inspiring. So, it is definitely really cool to be able to do these reviews for that reason. Thanks for checking out my review though, I really appreciate it!

I completely agree. Everything looks fab.

Thank, Jamie!

Kris

Oh, wow! I’m never subscribed to a clothing subscription box such as Stitch Fix, as I am pretty boring, basic in my clothing selection but I absolutely love reading your reviews of the item you receive! I just had to let you know that you looked ADORABLE. in that lemon dress…so cute!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Kris! Well, it is worth trying out! I bet you aren’t boring like you say you are! The fun thing about these subscription boxes is that you get items you may have never thought to select for yourself. Gwynnie Bee is fun too for that because they are a rental service so you can actually wear the pieces out and about. But I truly love Stitch Fix and would suggest it to anyone! Thanks again, Kris, for all your kind words and for reading my review!

Mary Beth

You look good in all of them. My favorite is the skirt outfit.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Mary Beth. I really loved that outfit too. Something very classic yet modern about it!

Reply ButtonReply

Jayne

You look great in everything. I love how you mix in your own pieces too.

Can I ask how tall you are? I’m 5’9″ and worry that a lot of the styles would be too short for me (or at least my comfort level). Thanks

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Jayne! I am roughly 5’6″. Totally understandable. I feel like the pencil skirt and the lemon dress could work on a taller person. The polka dot one could be too short. When I set up for the boxes initially, the stylist survey asked my height so they take that into account too. I hope all this info helps! 😊😊😊

Reply ButtonReply

Jayne

Thank you! Good to know they ask about height. It’s silly but somehow I think I’m hiding my weight if less of my legs are showing…lol

You’re photos are very inspiring and you make all of the clothes YOU! 😎

Amy

I would love to know what you picked. The pieces all looked great on you. Loved loved loved the peplum and pencil skirt combo.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Right now, I did not buy anything. But I may write them about the peplum and skirt. I am feeling remorseful on returning them!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Amy! If I could I would have get the entire box. It was all so good.

Reply ButtonReply

Smeds

Me too! I loved that skirt and top and the way that Nicole styled everything.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Smeds!

Sara

I LOVE the lemon dress, skirt and polka dot dress, you look great in everything!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Sara! I loved that lemon dress, it was so dang cute. And the skirt too! Yellow is one of my favorite colors!

Reply ButtonReply

Ariana

Those are great picks for you, Nicole! What did you keep?

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Nothing because I was trying to be frugal, but I am really thinking about writing to see if I cam get that top and skirt!
