Rescue Box July 2017 Dog Subscription Box

RescueBox is a subscription box for dogs or cats. For dogs, choose from small (up to 20 pounds), medium (20-50 pounds), and large (50+ pounds). They are associated with Greater Good (the folks who brought you The Hunger Site, The Animal Rescue Site, and more), and your purchase of a subscription will help provide food and vaccines to shelter pets!

Salmon Jerky by Colorado Naturals (4 oz) – Value $3.22

This is made from 100% salmon with no corn, wheat, or soy. This brand is new to me and it looks like they are a pretty small operation from their website (which you can get to by clicking on the product link). However, they seem dedicated to food safety and they don’t use preservatives or artificial colors or flavors, so if you are looking for something natural and grain free from a small producer, this might be right up your alley. Their products are affordable, too!

Salmon and Mango Flavored Bone by Exclusively Pet – Value $1.67 (buy a box of 12 for $20)

Exclusively Dog is a common brand in pet subscription boxes but I guess that is a good way to get your name out there. Please note that the $20/case is a sale price and these regularly go for about twice as much. These are made in the USA, are wheat, corn, and soy free, and contain no added sugars. They do have rye, rice, and oat-based ingredients, though, so I will have to pass this along for another dog to enjoy. You can break this up into smaller pieces for training purposes or to give to a smaller dog.

Floppie Shark by Aussie Naturals – Value $9.99

This is stuffing-free, which is great for dogs like Nyx. Instead, it has a cotton rope inside. There are also a couple of squeakers. Nyx managed to disable the squeakers pretty quickly (one of her specialties) but she hasn’t pulled any parts off just yet, either.

Deluxe Bottle Crusherz by Zippy Paws – Value $7.99

We receive a lot of ZippyPaws toys in dog subscription boxes but I have to say, they are some of the most durable fabric-based toys around. This one is reinforced and has an empty water bottle inside it (and an annoying squeaker).  My last dog did enjoy chewing on water bottles, but what I like about this is that the bottle is covered so your dog’s teeth and gums are protected.  Nyx was more interested in trying to pull off the fins, but that’s Nyx for you.

YakyPuff Fish by Himalayan Dog Chew – Value $3.19

These are made from Himalayan yak cheese with a little fish powder for flavoring and a potato starch base. They are supposed to be easy to chew for dogs that have problems with that sort of thing, plus they are made in the USA and are grain free.

Here are some shots of Nyx with one of the toys from this month. She didn’t even manage to pull any parts off, so she’ll get to play with it again.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $26.06 for July’s Rescue Box. That is somewhat below the month-to-month cost of the subscription, although I will point out that a few of the prices above are sale prices, especially on some of the treats, so the MSRP is likely a few dollars higher. Plus, don’t forget that you can save money on a longer-term subscription, and also, of course, some of the proceeds from the box go to help animals in need. There were several nice things about the box this month – many of the treats are suitable for dogs with some food sensitivities, and the toys are both size-appropriate for an 87-pound dog, plus they were durable.

What do you think of the July 2017 Rescue Box dog subscription box? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?

I just signed up for this subscription with the code GIFTMD and it was $20 off my first box! I received a one month sub for $9.95. Hopefully the code will work for some other fur moms and dads!

I just started getting this subscription, for the 50+ pound dogs and my box for July was completely different. There was literally not one item that was the same, any clue why that would be?

I wonder if you got a different month’s box as your first one? Or maybe they have a welcome box or something like that?

I just pay for this subscription on my own, they don’t send it to me, so they don’t know that I’m reviewing it here. So the one I get should be normal.
