Lip Monthly June 2017 Beauty Subscription Box

Each month, Lip Monthly includes a card with an intro to the products will their values. I found that the given values were different than what was listed on the sites. I have broken that down below.

Lip Monthly June 2017 Beauty Subscription Box

This month’s bag is a bit different than their usual. It is a plain drawstring canvas bag that you are supposed to design and post a picture of on Instagram with the hashtag #summerLM and tag @lipmonthly. If you do, you’ll be entered to win one of ten annual subscriptions.

Steve Laurant Lipgloss in Ballerina - Value $22 ( info card says $16)

A nice light pink/nude shade that applies like a liquid lip color but wears like a gloss. It is comfortable to wear and last for several hours without drying out my lips.

Model Co Lip Crayon in Red Velvet - Value $18 (info card says $17)

This is a dark, cool-tone red that has a semi-matte, velvety texture. It applies evenly and wears off after a couple of hours into a red stain.

Seraphine Botanicals Lip Crayon in Quince + Crimson - Value $24 (info card says $22)

Whoa, this is bright. I kind of like it though! This crimson lip and cheek crayon is long-lasting and ultra-matte. I find this to be a bit too bright for my cheeks and not as easily smudgeable as I want. It wears off into a more wearable stain on lips without becoming blotchy.

Cargo Water Resistant Bronzer, 0.10 oz. - Value $6.40

The info card says that this item was supposed to be a Cargo blush worth $14, but this is what I received. It is a mid-tone bronzer with the slightest shimmer. I don’t know how swimming with this on would go, but it did last through a sweaty workout session.

Here are all of the swatches next to each other. From top to bottom on the right: Steve Laurant Ballerina, Model Co Lip Crayon, Seraphine Lip Crayon, and Cargo Bronzer. The swatch on the left is the Seraphine Lip Crayon smudged out as it suggests for use on your cheeks.

Verdict: I really liked this month’s Lip Monthly and with a value of $70.40, I think it is a great way to try new lip products for a cost of $12.95 with free shipping. I think the dark red lip crayon fell outside of the theme of summer lip products but the other two shades were perfect plus a bronzer that doesn’t melt off in this heat.

What do you think of the items in this month’s Lip Monthly? Have you found any new faves?

Tiffany found out about subscription boxes from a friend who followed MSA. The curiosity started with mystery beauty boxes and grew into an addiction from there. Beauty, clothes, home...she loves the sight of a subscription box in the mail.

I’m not a red lip lover, but I really liked my ModelCo lip crayon. Yes, I wish it was in a different shade, like any different shade, but I loved the creamy formula, and as reds go, this one was ok. The Seraphine pencil was a little less creamy than I would have liked, disappointing since it’s a cheek color too, but I worked with it. Didn’t like the color on my lips, but yes on my cheeks. My gloss was a pretty light bright pink! And only once have I ever received a product from Cargo that I didn’t like, in a Boxycharm. So that brand is pretty much a win for me!

Overall, I think for $12.95 a month this bag gives some great items!

I did the $5 for the 1st month deal & honestly it was TOO much for what I received!

Out of 4 products in the July bag, only ONE was for me worth keeping – an IBY lipliner. ($14)

The rest: a Pixi tinted balm in corpse mauve, a Manna K primer in nuclear holocaust tan & an Hola liquid lip in what I can best describe as a glow in the dark glittery coral that a retired former Vegas showgirl/hooker would wear on the beach. The colour is beyond garish, but I will say this; it stained the sh*t out of my lips!

I forgot to mention that in the July bag they have a lippie from hola neon and the colors have not yet been released so that was pretty cool to get it early.

July was my first month and I was very happy with it. They so have some customization. For example for a lip gloss I could pick a pink glossy, nude glossy, or “surprise me”. Same with another lip product. They had a special, $5 for the first month. I liked it so much I signed up for another 4 months.

I had the worst time cancelling.. they just kept charging my card! Otherwise.. I always got my bag and the products were nice. Just be careful..

Trying to cancel my boxes, can’t seem to find out how! Any help?

They tried to get me too! Their cancellation process was very misleading, and resulted in them charging me for another annual subscription, which they tried to hold me to until I sent them a very strongly worded (but still courteous) email, then they refunded me “as a courtesy”.

Just a heads up for those that cancel via the link in your account. You’ll receive a standard looking “Subscription Cancellation Confirmed” (or something like that) email, but make sure to open it, and read it, because there is a link within that email that you must click as a 2nd step to officially cancel your subscription.

I did enjoy this bag while I was subscribed, and I’d have no problem subscribing again, but I’m retaining that mental note of the 2nd step to cancel.

Btw, thanks for modeling the colors. That really helps to tell how bold or sheer they are, since it’s not always so obvious just by looking at the product. 🙂

ipsy was the same way. I thought I had cancelled but I never clicked on the link in the e-mail. They ask you in many pages when you try to cancel if you are sure you want o cancel. I couldn’t believe there was yet another step. As it turns out I’m glad it wasn’t cancelled. That was @4 or 5 months ago and I’ve been so happy with ipsy. I will keep that in mind when I cancel lip monthly.

The items you received are great & all of them look beautiful on you!

I canceled when the lip products piled up, but I’ve never had a problem with their billing or customer service. I think that $12.95 is a low price to pay for experimenting with four products, three of which are full-size. Some months, all four products are full-size. Usually I would trash or gift 2-3 which didn’t work for me (color- or texture-wise), but I always appreciated the opportunity to experiment, which is what I paid for, after all. The bags used to be pretty, like ipsy bags, but they seem to have switched to canvas bags in February, and then stuck with them. My favorite discoveries through them: A Laritzy lip liner and the Cargo Cosmetics gloss in Sahara.

I was informed that the canvas bag and the late delay in shipping the June bag was because the printed ones hadn’t arrived. I have been a subscriber for almost a year now and other than late shipping, a broken lipstick container and a melted Model Inc lip pencil, the one mentioned above, (they no longer use the bubble mailers, it’s summer isn’t it?) I have been pleased…. The July bag is the the best this year..

The price went up since I last subscribed too. Maybe they’ll have a good deal or promo soon.

You look gorgeous in both bold lips. I dont know which is prettier on you 💄💋
