Each box comes with an info booklet with a theme inspired by someone. July's inspiration is Madonna, and this month is all about being able to reinvent yourself and stay motivated to be the best version of yourself.

Let's get Into The Groove... I mean, box!

Silver Linings Lavender Pillow Mist, 4 oz - Value $7.95

If you're going to be the best version of yourself, you'll need to get enough rest! This pillow mist made with lavender will help you drift off to sleep like a good Bedtime Story.

Just spray a few pumps onto your pillow before your head hits it, and the aromatherapy will take care of the rest.

I love the scent of lavender, and that's exactly what you get in this bottle. Simple ingredients!

An Inspired Life Journal - Value $14.95

Next, we have a lovely marbled hardcover journal for you to Express Yourself in. The pale pink and rose gold hues are pleasing and run throughout the pages.

Each page has a prompt to get your thoughts flowing onto the page.

There are also quotes to inspire you!

This reminds me of the "All About Me" journals that were popular years ago, with a classy and positive twist.

I think this would also make a great gift for someone who needs to be reminded of the positive aspects to life, and why each of us should be grateful.

Doucce Luscious Lip Stain Elegant Matte Finish with Dual Gloss (in Dark Lust) - Value $28

I've been seeing this brand pop up in subscription boxes recently, and it seems to be a great quality. The color I received is "Dark Lust," but am unsure if other variations are available via this box.

This is a dual gloss set that comes with a matte stain and a separate clear gloss.

The first step is to apply the stain. I was unsure about the color at first, but once I had it on, I really liked it!

I was expecting the consistency of thicker Kat-Von-D-type liquid lip color, but this one was much thinner, which surprisingly went on really well! It was easy to spread on my lips, and I didn't panic as much to get it perfectly placed. I'm assuming this formula is thinner since it's technically a stain and you add the thicker gloss after.

I actually like how it looks alone! I'm a huge fan of matte finish lip products.

Here is the chrome-like packaging for the gloss!

The brush for the clear gloss was a little stiff at first, so I smashed it into a paper towel a few times to soften it up. That made it much easier to apply. This gloss is super thick and sticky, as I would assume it would be.

So shiny! Ducce Lip Stain, I'm Crazy For You!

Two She's Got Papers Greeting Cards x 2 - Value $8.00 ($4.00 each)

These cards are perfect for a friend who needs to Take A Bow. She's Got Papers is committed to keeping the art of the written note alive with their unique designs for all occasions. The two cards featured come with matching envelopes to stay coordinated.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry Coaster Set - Value $14

I have a lot of mid-century furniture in my house that I'm always trying to keep nice, so coasters are a must. Sailor Paper Company offers this set of 8 heavy board coasters to help me out.

They come in a really cute box wrapped in a bow.

The designs are super cute, ranging from geometric, to ikat, to more fancy patterns. I find the color palette to be quite pleasing with the pale teals and soft golds.

Each rounded square coaster is about 2.5" and will hopefully protect my nice wood coffee table from hot and cold drinks!

Moe & Co. Druzy Necklace - Listed Value $28

I couldn't find this necklace anywhere online to get a true value, so I'm going with the listed value. This pretty purple amethyst necklace has a golden edge. I love the style of this amethyst bar, and it's got a decent weight to it without being too heavy to hang around your neck.

I like the look of the brushed gold around it, and the chain is quite long and hangs about 12" down.

I think this statement necklace would bring a Ray Of Light to any outfit.

Viter Energy Mints, 20 piece tin - Value $4.99

I've received a sample pack of these mints in another box a few months back, and my first thought was "is this something we need"? I wasn't sure then and I'm still not convinced, but now I have a whole tin of them.

I can see these being handy to keep on hand in the event that you need to Keep It Together after a long night and don't have access to coffee or an energy drink. Perhaps these would have fewer calories than the latter.

Heidi Swapp Gold Clips - Value $9.99

Heidi Swapp Stickers - Value $2.99

You should all know by now that I love office supplies and stationery. These style of these items from Heidi Swapp's Magnolia Jane collection isn't quite up my alley, but these pieces are quite nice!

I will certainly use these gold metal clips (perhaps to get some art prints Hung Up), and the tin is nice enough to use as a gift box later!

These stickers would be great for scrapbooking!

They feature cameras, flowers, and whimsical sayings on clear backgrounds.

Verdict: Covet Crate's Lady Boss Box this month was chock-full of quality items. Not all of them were quite for me, but I like that some came from smaller makers. The curation of this box seemed a little all over the place, but the idea of being for the "Professional Woman" is pretty broad, so their selection begs to be, as well. The lip stain set and necklace were big wins for me, and I'd say they were the stars of the box. All of the values add up to a whopping $118, using the retail prices, which is over the $94.95 cost of the box. Personally, I'm not sure the items are worth the cost to me, but the dollar value is certainly there.

Im sorry, but I have to say it….that liquid lipstick looks horrible on your lips! It’s very cracked and dry looking- is it a poor formula or are you lips just very dry?

The Madonna references were the only interesting aspect about this box! Nothing in or about it screams MADGE 😐

What box “curators” don’t seem to get is that in order to do a $100 box you have to have some combination of value and unique curation. This box rv is about $6 above its price and there is absolutely nothing special about it. For $30 more I could get over $400 in retail from Luxor or $300 from Oui Please for $80 with coupon, boxes filled with truly special things, not to mention Rachel Zoe, Happy Rebel and heck, Fabfitfun is similar for half the price and 2-3 times the retail. Again, if this had anything special about it, then it would be okay. But I could buy similar items at Target for less than $100 and pick them out myself.

And I am not even getting into those box names again or the concept of “covet” as something aspirational for professional women. I am usually not this harsh on boxes but this one gets to me.

I completely agree! Why would I spend $100 on a box worth just barely more than that when I can “curate” my own box at a retail store or Etsy? To be fair, with Etsy I’d be paying shipping, but I’d also be getting exactly what I want…no swaps necessary. I get that sub boxes need to make a profit, but there has to be some motivation for people to subscribe…like you said, either a big discount on retail prices, or uniquely curated products that can’t be found anywhere else.

I actually like several of the products in this particular shipment…but at a price point of, say, $40 to $50. I don’t intend to be mean, but at the prices it’s charging, I’m really surprised that Covet Crate is still in business.

I like the necklace and the coasters, but am meh on everything else, except the lipstick which would be 100% a miss for me. Even if I could wear a matte lippie, that color would be terrible on me – plus I just don’t think of that brand is luxe (the ONLY place I see it is sub boxes).

Super underwhelming for the price.

We “Material Girls” expect a much higher value of items for the price of this box. LOL Definitely not worth the cost , to me anyway.

The first few covet crate boxes where awesome. They had some real classy looking accessories and some nice office items, although the style of the office items where a bit “young,” for a box that aims to meet a professional woman’s needs. Then they raised thier prices and the last two or three boxes have been less interesting and with less value. Too bad. I had my eye on this box for a while and if they had kept going with the curation they had at the start, I may have signed up for this box, even though it is beyond my price comfort point.

I like most of the box; I am a Madonna fan. It is pricey though. Does anyone know what comes in the Girl Box?

I loved the Madonna song references throughout!!! 🙂

Wow, that is one ugly box.

I think I’d be mad if I spent $95 on that box. Maybe $50, I don’t really see anything special about it .
