I just got the July bag and would really like to see it reviewed with primer so I can see if I should keep or swap

I’m interested in the lip product if anyone plans on swapping it 🙂

This is one of my favorite sub’s; the loose pigments are AMAZING! Definitely use a primer first, then Not Mor Shadow Bind (or similar product) and I promise you, you’ll be stunned by the looks you can create. The Mystic Matte lippies are probably my favorite liquid lipstick. The color range is great and they DO NOT dry my lips out; they are transfer resistant after some drying time and they don’t budge.
The Vanishing Cabinet is great if you like the idea surprises but you can also just go to the website and order if you want to choose colors/products. Prices can’t be beat IMHO. Happy Day friends 🙂

I just got my first package today. Brand new subscriber. I don’t know much about the products yet so I can’t wait for a review. I’m not sure how to use them and I’m not sure if I’m going to just swap the whole lot.

This is the person who took the pictures…the eye shadows are amazing and totally almost holographic. It was so hard to get the shimmer in a picture tho. The lipstick is more of a stain once it dries. However, it doesn’t dry lips out-pretty impressive! I did do a lip scrub first and then used the lip balm as a base. Any recommendations for applying the eye shadow would be greatly appreciated! I’m new to loose powders like that but the colors are so beautiful that I’m super excited to play!

There are plenty of videos on YouTube. Do a search on Notoriously Morbid or how to use loose pigments. I have learned, primer first, then shadow bind or some sort of sticky base if using the sparkly colors (not really needed for the matte ones), and then pat the colors on instead of swiping.

As others said, wet brush, or spritz setting spray. There are also things like E.L.F. “Lock and Seal” and “Duraline” by Inglot (which can also be used to revive any kind of gel or cream liners & shadows). A bunch of companies make similar products to E.L.F.’s, but I’ve not seen much difference & theirs is so inexpensive! A bottle of Duraline runs around $14 (Macy’s free shipping!) and lasts forever! Hope that helps!⚡️Jet

A primer is a must. But try the Notoriously Morbid shadow bind to bring out the colors, glitters, shimmers and duochrome. Shadowing is a supplement to a primer not a substitute for primer.

I love loose eyeshadows, but i definitely use a different technique with them than i do my pressed palettes. I always use a primer first like Urban Decay Primer Potion and then pat (not swipe) the pigments on top. For especially glittery or duochrome ones, i add a thin layer of glitter glue (NYX makes one, and so does Notoriously Morbid), let it set for like 30 seconds, and then pat the pigments on top of that. My eyeshadow doesn’t budge or fade until i remove it, and it makes the colors really pop! It’s a little more work until you get used to it, but i totally prefer loose to pressed at this point. The colors and sparkles are just so much more fun!

Wet your brush with water or setting spray!

Is the quality as bad as it looks, in the swatches? (except the top one, which is probably the lippie?)

Lola
The quality is excellent. The swatches are without a primer which is a necessity for these loose shadows.

Lol, the quality is great but I’m just learning how to swatch. Many apologies!!

Swatching is literally an art unto itself.
Alex
Don’t worry. I’m completely new too. Bless everyone for the advice and suggestions!

Another suggestion for swatching – use disposable foam eye wands (like the kind that come in cheapy makeup). They really work well when swatching on not the face!

You did a fabulous job! Thank you for doing this review. If you are just learning to use loose powder shadows, you are in for a ton of fun!

Do not fret, these are really bad swatches… in addition to there being no primer, it looks like they didnt even get a full brush load for swatches (minerals get picked up easily in brushes so when you apply them, you barely touch your brush to them… but lightly touching your brush makes for some AWFUL swatches)… they were applying it to their arm the way you would apply it to your eye, lightly.

Loose shadows generally need to be worn over tacky bases for best results and this looks like bare skin. It probably applies better than it swatches. The extra mess is why, though I often like the colors created, I avoid loose shadows!
