The Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box from Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics, producers of lots of fun colors of lipstick, loose powder pigments, cosmetic glitter, and more, in lots of fun, bold, and sometimes unconventional colors.

Good to Know: Glamorous Chicks delivery has been getting later and later in the month lately (this is May’s box) and has been taking a long time to respond to customer service emails. They did acknowledge this problem to me and said they are phasing out their subscription program in the near future.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Sometimes you’ll get a card with example lipstick colors. It’s more promotional material than information card. It also contains a coupon code for shop purchases. This month, one was not included in my package.

Invisible Waterproof Gel Lip Liner (0.04 oz) – Value $12.99

This is a private label lip liner where companies can imprint their own names. It is made in Germany. I found it for sale from a company where it had branding attached, and that is the link you see above. At any rate, I do use products like this quite often, especially for hard-to-match lipsticks, and this one seems to be doing a good job so far of preventing feathering and migration.

“Super Candy” Lip Gloss (0.5 oz) – Value $14.99

This is high shine and transparent (despite the spite pink coloring in the tube). I can always use a good lip gloss to cover up a drying lip stain or liquid lipstick. I tried this over one of those Tony Moly lip tints and I’m happy with the performance.

Large Shadow Brush – Value $1?

You’ll occasionally get one of these brushes with this box. There is not enough identifying information to find them online, but they don’t seem terribly expensive. This works well enough, though!

Cosmetics Glitter in Luxury Gold – Value $14.95

Cosmetics Glitter in Angelic White – Value $14.95

Cosmetics Glitter in Ruby – Value $14.95

You get to choose three Glamorous Chicks branded items each month and I went for glitters again. I was mostly looking for colors I didn’t already have.  I thought these went together pretty well.  I am not much for wearing glitter as eye makeup, but I have been having fun with glitter manicures lately.  (See below for instructions.)

I don’t have any glitter primer right now so these don’t look so great. You would definitely want to use a glitter glue-type eyelid primer if you are wearing these glitters as eye makeup.  (A regular primer works for their loose powder shadows.) But I got these for my nails; see below…

Also, for what it’s worth, the lip product swatches didn’t show up with any pigment on my arm. That being the case, I am going to be using that more as a gloss over drying liquid lipsticks and such.

Here is a manicure I did with the red glitter. It still needs a bit more cleanup – glitter manicures are super sparkly but messy.  (I was going to do one with all three colors but Angus got ahold of the white glitter container and now I can’t find it…)

You have to do one nail at a time – put on a thick layer of base coat (I use an all-in-1 base/top coat from Essie). Then pour glitter over it until you’re covered.  Move on to the next nail. By the time you’re done, you can use your base/top coat over the glitter for a few coats on each nail to smooth things out (glitter can be a bit rough). Work over wax paper and then you have like no mess, plus you can pour what spilled back into the container.  I strongly suggest reserving a bottle of base/top coat for glitter use as you don’t want to get flecks of glitter in your normal topcoat.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $73.83 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box. That is a pretty typical value for this subscription. You can increase the value a little depending on what products you choose. I thought the extra included items were useful this month (those are sometimes hit or miss), and of course, I’m happy with the items I chose, so this was a pretty good month for me.

As a reminder, Glamorous Chicks has plans to phase out their subscription program, so this is my last review. If you like the items you’ve seen in past reviews, though, they do still have a web store where you can purchase them.
