Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Clubs are the original beading subscription boxes (they’ve been around since 2000).

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This is a review of the Single Superduos of the Month Club, which is $22.95/month for 12.5 grams of each of 8 different Superduo colors (Superduos are the most popular 2-hole beads and you will see what they look like below if you are unfamiliar).

The Subscription Box: Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Club

The Cost: Varies depending on the club selected and whether you choose the single or double club; save a bit more with the double clubs. The Single Superduos of the Month Club is $22.95 a month + shipping.

The Products: 8 packages of color-coordinated beads; choose from “Hot and Trendy” beads, “2-Hole Beads,” “Superduos,” “11/0 Delicas,” “11/0 Seed Beads,” “Swarovski crystals,” or a rotating club where you get a different selection each month.

Good to know: I actually subscribe to several of these clubs and they all come in the same package. I’m going to do a rotation with these reviews so you’ll see something a little different each month.

Ships to: US, cost varies depending on the number of clubs subscribed to (shipping is $4.50 for one club; refer to their FAQ for shipping costs for additional clubs)

The package came with a list of the beads included as well as retail values. Note: I am using the retail values from this list.  They seem reasonable to me, plus it is pretty much impossible to find each color from the same online shop, let alone the same exact package size, so things like quantity discounts are not going to apply here (plus Fire Mountain Gems doesn’t sell Superduos, anyway). This month’s theme is “Raindrops on Roses.”

12.5 grams of Crystal Helio Superduos – Listed Value $3

You can see the Superduo shape here if you’re not familiar with them. I have had an obsession with this shape of bead for awhile and I’ve actually been subscribed to this club for 4-5 months already. These are clearly meant to be for the “raindrops” part of the “raindrops on roses” theme!

12.5 grams of Crystal Vitrail Matte Superduos – Listed Value $3.25

I don’t often work with matte beads but I actually used these in a bracelet this month since there were three colors of matte beads and my pattern called for three colors of Superduos.

12.5 grams of Emerald AB Superduos – Listed Value $3.50

I didn’t use these this month but they fit nicely into my collection and the color palette I usually use.

Here are another one of the matte colors; I also used these in my bracelet this month.

The vitrail finish is so pretty. I haven’t used these yet but I love them.

12.5 grams of Red Wine Superduos – Listed Value $3.75

Such a nice color for the “rose” part of the “raindrops on roses” theme. (Also, I got a new beading mat and I see Angus has ALREADY left some cat hairs on it…)

12.5 grams of Ruby Vitrail Matte Superduos – Listed Value $3.50

More matte vitrail finish beads. These also went into the bracelet. I think these are my favorites of the matte vitrail beads but I like anything red so that’s no surprise.

Another pretty color I haven’t used yet but know I will soon.  I see these in something with the crystal helio beads from earlier.

Here is a bracelet I made with the three matte shades. I got this pattern from Creative Beading Volume 10, which is a collection of projects from a year of Bead & Button magazine. Although I like the end result a lot, the pattern was poorly written and the photos were not helpful (so not for beginners). But, I managed to figure it out!

Verdict: I calculated a value for the June 2017 Superduos of the Month club of $27.50. That about breaks even with the cost of the subscription plus shipping. (It’s a savings of $4.55 over the retail price of the beads, but shipping is $4.50 for one club.) You can get a somewhat better deal by subscribing to multiple clubs and/or the double clubs since a double club counts the same as a single when it comes to shipping.

I really liked the colors this month. I do think they go together well and they are not normally colors I would purchase (outside of some of the greens). I also don’t usually work with matte-finish beads, but I did here. So in the sense that I broadened my horizons a bit, this month was a win for me. I look at this as a stash-building subscription (I am a firm believer in keeping a massive stash of beads because then, no matter what pattern I am working with, I usually have beads in an appropriate matching color; also, I just like shopping for beads).

You do have to call to cancel or change your payment method. I will say, though, that I have had a good experience with their customer service so far. I got quick responses to emails, and if you want to add a club or change to a double club or switch clubs, you can do that with a quick email. Also, you get a free storage case for the tubes every three months, and you get some free Swarovski crystals with your first shipment of any new club (not shown here because neither applies to me this month).

What did you think of the June 2017 Superduos of the Month club? Do you subscribe to any beading or craft boxes?

Ragan, I don’t care about beads but always check your review to see what you have created. YOu have great imagination and skills. Great bracelet. Hope, some day, when I retire, kids grow up, I will take jewelry making classes, always wanted to do wire wrapping and beads.

Thanks! I am entirely self-taught (sporadically, over the last 20 years or so). No kids but I do have a full time job, plus reviewing for MSA, so I squeeze in the jewelry-making when I can.
