Trendy Butler is a men’s apparel subscription. They send out quality items from both brands you know as well as up-and-coming brands. Every delivery is guaranteed to have at least $150+ in value.

If you’re not familiar with Trendy Butler, here’s how it works: You take a style quiz, and you get a box of 1-3 menswear items to keep! This is not a shopping service like Stitch Fix where you pay for whatever items you don’t send back – it’s just $65, and whatever they send is yours forever.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Civil Society Button-Down Shirt – Value $90?

I can’t find this exact shirt on their website, so I used the other long sleeve buttons they sell as a reference point for the value. That being said, this is a nice shirt! Great quality, and a classic style. I also adore this color on Luke! This shirt was sized up to an XL for Luke, who usually wears an M or L – the length was good and the shoulders hit at just the right place – both of which are common struggles for tall Luke! Unfortunately, the sleeves were too long (a rare problem for him) so they’re best rolled up. Luke also said that the body was a little baggier than he prefers to wear (more obvious in the back), but in my opinion, it’s just because he tends to wear tighter/fitted styles more than a traditional button-down. I think this fits fine and works well overall. Besides, the sides seem to slim in a little so that helps the shape stay flattering even if he felt the fit was a little looser than his usual style.

American Vintage Chunky Knit Cardigan – Value $70?

(I’m estimating the value here, too.) This cardigan is definitely not Luke’s style, but I still think it looks good on him!  He said it was warm and comfortable, but the chunky knit (and cardigans in general) are just not his taste – he sticks to hoodies much more. I do like this outfit pairing, though, and I may steal this cardigan for myself!

Verdict: This was an okay Trendy Butler for us. The fit was good for both items except the length of the shirt sleeves, and I like the overall outfit look – it just isn’t Luke’s taste. It’s not a total loss, though, because Luke can use the shirt great for work and I don’t think I’m kidding about just wearing the cardigan myself! It works out alright for us, but Luke has liked other months much more. The value (at least, with my estimations) adds up to $160, which is great for a $65 subscription. The way I generally look at your own personal value of this box is if you would spend $65 or more (the cost of the box) on the items you get, I’d count it as a win. I love that Luke gets some high-quality wardrobe updates from Trendy Butler every month.

I really had to laugh as this review was so written by a “wife”. I am not saying that to be insulting at all. He didn’t like the items but you felt he should. Totally different review had he been the one typing. That said I have to agree with him on the sweater. It wasn’t flattering at all and reminded me of something an 80 year old professor type would wear. Stand your ground Luke!!

Love how that shirt looks on him. I like the cardigan a lot… it looks sorta unisex?!

I think if under the cardigan was a plainer shirt, something softer(?) it might fit more. I could def see some guys pulling this off though! I think it would give a “I got to concerts”, or the like, vibe 😉 (which is totally cool fyi)
