This box comes with an individual card detailing each item. First up:

Ripauste 3-Piece Set in Black or Camel- Value $135

Pouchette Bandouliere

I’m a bit obsessed with this bag! The leather is soft and the construction is impressive. Plus, I love the minimalist design and the slightly slouchy look.

The fold over top has a magnetic snap to hold it in place and the strap is removable:

No lining inside, but the Ripauste label is there:

Here it is on to give you a better sense of scale:

It easily fits my phone, wallet, lip balm, hand sanitizer, etc.

Pochette Small Wallet

This little coin purse has the same foldover design as the bag. (It fits in the bag, too.)

Belt

This belt measures about 41 inches long with 7 adjustment holes.

Just like with the bag and coin purse, the leather is so soft!

Circ-Skincare Daily Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF 43 – Value $50

This is the most lightweight SPF I’ve ever sampled! It absorbed almost instantly, too. And oil-free! I don’t think I could see myself spending $50 on sunscreen, but it’s great to get in a box!

Venice Beach Candle Company – VBCC x Jules Smith Americana Jewelry Candle – Value $48

This Americana candle scent is described as a “clean, floral scent inspired by the spirit of wanderlust and the American dream. Fresh notes of jasmine and orchid are complemented by musky denim.”

And when you melt the candle down, a jewelry piece from Jules Smith is revealed! Use tweezers to remove the foil, and then unwrap to reveal your earrings! Here’s what was in my candle:

Betty Studs ($35 Value)

These delicate stud earrings are plated with 14k gold! (Definitely the nicest jewelry piece I’ve seen in any jewelry candle!)

Rose et Marius Orange Blossom Hand Creme – Value $18

This hand creme is my favorite Rose et Marius scent yet! It reminds me of Bobbi Brown’s Beach fragrance – this scent is just a bit more powdery. The hand cream is on the small side (50 ml), but you only need a bit, so it should last a while.

Mariposa Blue Peony Trinket Dish – Value $44

This dish is made with recycled sand-cast aluminum, coated in blue enamel.

It measures about 6 inches across with 1.5 inches in depth.

This piece doesn’t fit my decor/design esthetic, but fortunately, it comes boxed and ready to gift!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $295. I think that value is good for a luxe box! (And given the quality of the bag + coin purse + belt, I actually expected their retail value to be higher.) Everything is a hit for me with the exception of the Mariposa dish.

What do you think of the May 2017 Luxor Box? What was your favorite item in the box?

  1. Did anyone else get a scarf instead of the purse set??

    • If that happened to you, you need to contact them. The purse set was a guaranteed item and it would be a bait and switch to not send it. Hopefully, it is just a mistake. I can imagine the ill will that they will incur if they send something other than the purse set.

    • Oh no. Sorry that happened, unless you love the scarf. I only signed up because of the purse set spoiler. I’d be disappointed unless it was a Hermes! 😊

  2. Liz (or anyone else who has done it), how long did you have to burn the candle to get to the earrings?

  3. Very nice! I wish I could afford to subscribe. I could if I stopped all my other subs but I’ll just keep watching unboxings 😊 I have gotten one of those ring candles before it was exciting to find out what was in there but the ring was nothing close to those ear rings! Very pretty indeed.

  4. Wow – Liz that was so nice of you to burn off the candle enough to pluck out those earrings for all of us to see. Thank you so much!

  5. I want that candle!

  6. So excited to get mine! I’ll use all of it (I’m on the fence about the dish, we’ll see when it comes). Just really hoping for the camel and not the black bag.

  7. Thanks for a great review Liz! Can you tell me if the sunscreen has a scent to it? Thanks!

    • Not Liz, but I can answer that. It does not have a scent. The box states that all of the company’s products are free of fragrances. Based on first impressions, it is by far the best sunscreen that I’ve received in a sub box.

The only item in the box that I don’t like is the hand cream, because it has a VERY strong floral scent.

      • Thanks for the information Cee!

  8. The earrings are lovely, i can’t believe they were in the candle.

  9. If anybody is selling their May box let me know. I love every item.

    • Hello Erin, I have listed my box to swap. Also willing to sell. Please look up my swap name, Mae. My box should arrive any day and I’d prefer to ship without opening so not sure color for purse and belt. If it makes a difference to you I’d be willing to open though. Thanks!

      • Hello Mae, I’d be interested in buying or swapping for the entire box as well. Haven’t figured out how to look up a swapper yet, but hopefully I will eventually… my swapper name is Cara. I’m really interested in the camel bag/ the whole box.

  10. On the Luxor site it says you get billed $139 a month and receive a box every other month. So each box actually costs $278? Is that true?

    • You get billed every other month too. Its $139 a box. You get billed a month prior to the box being shipped. So the next box is July you’ll get billed in June.

      • Thanks!

  11. Is this box still available to purchase ? Thank you

  12. Wow, this is significantly nicer than other recent boxes. I wish I could sub and get this one, but it appears to be too late.

  13. I’d love to swap for that CircCell SPF! My swap profile link is in my name!
