If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from). For the $149 tote, you pick 2 items and get 3-4 more surprise items based on your style profile.

FYI – This is not a typical subscription, each month they release a new collection and you can decide whether or not you want to buy it.

Every month they design a new tote, too! I love this bright design for Summer!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Golden Tote, $149 a month, box.

Golden Tote also included an info card thanking me for my purchase and walking me through the return process if there’s anything I don’t love.

My box also included an info sheet with a packing list of all my items.

Floral Frenzy Top – Value $40

This top was my first chosen item. It’s clear it is meant to have a looser fit so I sized down and it’s still very billowy. Which is okay, because I’m pregnant and could get a lot of wear out of this top. I love the floral fabric, but I think the top part is unflattering on me… I wish the knit at the neck and shoulders were a matching coral or something because the tan washes me out and would probably look better on someone who is actually tanned. I also think the straight line across the chest doesn’t do much for my overall silhouette and does weird things for the eyes, I feel.

Rose Garden Maxi Dress – Value $50

This was my second chosen item and it’s the MVP of this tote! In fact, I just wore this on Mother’s Day! This floral is gorgeous and the fit is perfect for me. It’s even long enough on my 5’11” frame – I could wear a heel with this if I wanted! The only thing is that this is an actual wrap dress so the neckline is pretty open and the skirt can blow open scandalously in the wrong circumstances. No issue, though; a cami and a couple safety pins fixed both these worries for me. Plus, wrap dresses = perfect pregnancy dresses.

Ginger G Crossfront Swing Top – Value $40

This top is a winner too! I love this color and the swing silhouette is so easy to wear. It’s flattering and comfortable! It’s also pregnancy-friendly (a note I left for my stylist in my Style Profile) but it also works for non-maternity (bonus!) so I personally get great versatility there.

There’s even a little detailing in the back to compliment the neckline. I think that’s a great detail.

Chris & Carol Flutter Sleeve Midi Dress – Value $40

I like this dress, too. The color is pretty and the longer midi length is perfect for me. This one’s a faux-wrap dress, though, so it’s easier to wear than the maxi.

Ovi Striped Skirt – Value $40

I usually never wear skirts but I like this one. The olive and white stripes are pretty and, again, I love the midi length. It has an elastic waist so it is easy to take on and off, but the band is a little too snug/stiff to be worn under my baby bump but works well as a high-waist for me, which I like the look of. That makes it look like a casual dress.

Verdict: Even though my chosen shirt doesn’t work for me as well as I’d like, overall this tote was great! Everything else is a winner for me and my style! I have seen some women on the Golden Tote Facebook group post about requesting “pregnancy-friendly” items from Golden Tote (at least through the earlier months of their pregnancies) so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m glad I did – these kinds of clothing picks are great for summer and are versatile for post-baby, too. As far as value goes, I received $210 of clothing for $149, which I’m happy with.

Diana, as far as I’m aware, I’m the most recent MSA reviewer to have a baby, but that was in 2015. My first will be 2 when I have my second. ☺️

Congrats Haley! So exciting. I got the midi dress as my surprise item and it’s so awful on me. I thought for sure I checked off “no midi dresses” in my style profile, but I accidentally only checked off “no midi skirts”. Still I felt like it was a bad choice for me. At 5 feet tall it falls at a strange length. It looks lovely on you.

I chose the floral top as well and I kind of love it. Sometimes I just want to hide my love handles under a giant tent of a shirt lol.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy 🙂

Haley: where are you getting the values for the surprise items? I don’t know where to find that out for the ones I got.

Thanks for another great review!

Jen, for my chosen items I get the value from what they cost in the boutique (if they’re not sold out by then) but you can see all your item values if you go to your account>order history and click “return order” under the order number. Then if you click one of the bullets indicating you want to return one of the items each item’s price pops up so you can see how much it’d cost to only keep some of your things.

Congrats on your pregnancy! You look beautiful.

When I saw the first picture I thought you put a strapless shirt over another for modesty purposes. It doesn’t visually make sense to me at all.

Beth

I thought the exact same thing– the shirt is not a flattering design.

Haley you look BEAUTIFUL in those dresses. And congrats on the pregnancy!!
