Bulu Box seems to be tinkering with their information cards lately. This month, the Bulu Box app is highlighted.

Vital4U Fiber Supplement in Citrus Berry Fusion Flavor (0.6 fl oz x 2) – Total Value $2 (buy a 12-pack for $12)

This is a premixed soluble fiber supplement. It does not have any artificial sweeteners but actually does have a bit of real sugar (only amounting to 28 calories). This could be handy if you already take a fiber supplement and have to travel since the liquid volume is pretty low and mixing with water is not required. These are vegetarian and they taste all right, though I still kind of want to take a drink of water afterward. Don’t take a fiber supplement around the same time you take prescription medications as it can bind up the active ingredient and effectively lower your dose.

Zero Carb SRO Whey Protein Isolate in Graham Cracker (0.85 oz) – Value $0.87 (buy a 4.4lb. container with 87 servings for $75.76)

I am not on a low carb diet (really, it’s the reverse for me…). But I do like to put protein powder in my morning smoothies so this was appreciated – it literally arrived the very day I ran out of my previous protein powder sample. This doesn’t really stand out in my overall smoothie mix, which is fine by me. I do feel that it blends pretty well, but that is not surprising for whey.

Bang Pre Workout Master Blaster in Blue Razz (0.92 oz) – Value $1.65 (buy a 20-serving package for $32.99)

I mixed this up to taste but I’m going to be honest, blue raspberry is not my favorite flavor (the color reminds me of Windex, too). I didn’t try the whole thing before a workout because I am doing mostly cardio lately and this has as much caffeine as 3 cups of coffee, plus creatine, which does help build muscle but also adds water weight. This also has branched chain amino acids, which are good to help with delayed onset muscle soreness after a workout.

Salonpas Pain Relieving Patches (2-count) – Value $0.50

I have seen TV commercials for these for years but never had one to try out before. I don’t have any pain right now (these work on pretty much everything but headaches, according to the product literature attached to them) but will save these for the next time I am sore after exercise. They have similar ingredients to products like BenGay (menthol, methyl salicylate, etc.) but without all the mess. I also received these patches in this month's original Bulu Box.

Motion Matcha (2g) – Value $1.92 (buy a box of 12 packets for $22.99)

I do like to add matcha to my smoothies; you get way more antioxidants from eating tea than from drinking it! Plus I don’t really like to drink matcha, having tried it a few times. This packet was a good size for adding to a smoothie (which is what I did with it), although I think you are paying a premium for the convenience of packets; you can buy a much larger bag elsewhere for less money.

ThermIQ (12 liquid capsules) – Value $6.60 (buy a bottle of 60 capsules for $32.99)

I am unable to try these because they’re not vegetarian (liquid capsules nearly always contain gelatin and these are no exception). But they are super full of stimulants (including 275 mg of caffeine, or a little shy of 3 cups of coffee worth) and I have gotten jittery a few times lately from caffeine, so just be careful if you get jittery from caffeine or have hypertension, and don’t take this right before bed. These allegedly help burn fat but I notice the directions say to avoid snacking, drink lots of water, and use in conjunction with diet and exercise, so I imagine it would be hard to tell if your results were from this product or from other changes you make.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $13.54 for the May Bulu Box Weight Loss. That is a pretty good value for this box (definitely more than the $5 promotional price I paid) and even though I couldn’t try every item, I did get some good smoothie ingredients out of it. And honestly, the contents of this box were more focused towards weight loss than usual.

I’d definitely recommend using our MYSUB599 coupon code when signing up and also sticking to either the regular or the weight loss version of this box rather than getting both, as there is often significant product repeat (less so this month than normally, though). Also, don’t forget to review your products for points to use in the Bulu Box shop!

I have never tried Matcha tea before, and I must say it was the most vibrantly green liquid I think I have ever drank in my life. I was a fan, although I did add some sweetener. I have been getting Bulu for about a year now, and while the boxes can be disappointing at times, I really feel that the points for review make it all worth it. I have gotten numerous great products for free using these points, they accumulate quickly! (Plus I subscribed with the $5 for life promo, so it works out, not sure I would pay $10 for the box)

This is the first box I have received even though they have charged me for 2 boxes. I’m not really impressed and don’t think I’ll continue. I wouldn’t really recommend it. I waited almost two months for my first box.

I think this is the first time we have the same box. 😉
