Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription box for men. Each month, you’ll receive 3-4 sample size items to try along with another lifestyle item that you can select. The Subscription Box: Birchbox Man

The Cost: $20 a month ($16.25 a month with annual subscription)

Bombas Socks 2-Pair – Value $12 each

Each month, Birchbox Man allows you to select one lifestyle item for your upcoming box. This month, I went with the set of Bombas socks.

Bombas makes some of the most comfortable socks that actually stay in place on your foot. I’ve had issues in the past with the socks actually being a bit too tight and hurting my foot – but I keep trying them again and again because they’re super comfortable and I WANT to wear me. So, here I am as I write this review, with Bombas socks on. Fingers crossed.

V76 by Vaughn Daily Balance Facial Cleanser – Value $2.87 based on $23 full-size

My favorite item of the month was this exfoliating cleanser.

It worked really well in conjunction with my Foreo and didn’t really have a scent. So if you’re looking for something neutral and effective, this could be a good option.

PC4MEN Daytime Protect SPF30 – Value $7.25 based on $29 full-size

My second item is a sunscreen – which almost feels like a cruel joke since it’s 40 degrees outside as I’m writing this!

This is also intended to moisturize while it protects.

Hanz de Fuko Sponge Wax – Value $2.44 based on $19.50 full-size

This sponge wax is a high-hold hair sculpting gel.

It doesn’t have much of a scent – it’s what I’d consider the typical sculpting gel scent, but it’s been a while since I’ve used any hold product in my hair, so maybe I’m outdated on sculpting scents.

CoSTUME NATIONAL Homme – Value $1.65 based on $110 full-size

The final item in my box was a cologne sample. Unfortunately, this is the exact type of cologne that I really don’t like, the scent is just too much – I tend to lean towards more natural fragrances.

Verdict: While the values were really good this month, most of the products were really wide of the mark for me. Luckily, I’m still wearing my Bombas socks – and the socks alone are worth more than the cost of the box, so the value is still there for me even if I’m only enjoying 2 of the 5 items. It’s an off month, but I’ve found that to be a bit rare with this subscription so far.

  1. I’m a little disappointed with the consistently low values of Birchbox Man, especially when they keep offering the same products every month (how many flasks can one have?) I realize the sample pool is shallower for men than it is for women, but I think there could really be a market here if they lowered their price to $10 a month and cared about curation a little more.
