Ugh…this was my 3rd birchbox and I’m increasingly less impressed. These are even worse than Play boxes have been lately. Might have to pull the plug on both subs soon.

I was signing up because Iike the idea of being able to choose something. It also had a add to your box so you didn’t pay shopping but when I got total there was $5 shipping added. Haven’t put in my CC yet. Do they charge an extra $5 every month for shipping on box? I have tried 4 other subs and there is no additional ship charge. Also what is the difference between regular boxes and beta?

how do you get the beta member box?

I chose the Beauty crop blush because I felt like tying something relitivly new to me. Plus, I’ve received Orbie and the Smashbox primer in previous boxes.

I can’t decide. If I get curated, I’ll only use 3 products. I don’t want any of the samples. And I’ve let them choose before and gotten 2 of the unwanted samples in my box, which was worse…

If you just let them pick all your samples for you, how likely is it that you get one of the three choices (Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, The Beauty Crop Blush Duo in Papaya Don’t Peach)?

None of these three choices really jumps out at me, and though the curated box looks nice, it’s my first time getting a Birchbox box and I’m kind of intrigued to see what they select for me. That being said, I just received the Smashbox primer in another subscription box and will be disappointed if it winds up as one of my 5 samples.

Yeah, definitely a complete crapshoot when it comes to not choosing anything. I’ve had boxes free of any Sample choice and curated box samples. Then I’ve had boxes with two sample choice items. Twice I’ve even had boxes that were a combination of the sample choice and curated box. It was like a weird mix hybrid.

I’ve let them pick twice. The first time, I got the best samples I’ve ever gotten. All new, cool, totally personalized things. The second time, I got two of the choices. So it’s a bit of a crapshoot. But I’m so tempted to do it again since that first go was so amazing.

I was thinking the same thing…. it is a total crapshoot. I’ve heard of people not getting any of the choice picks, and some getting up to all three. It definitely depends how lucky you are that month. 🙂

I don’t wear foundation but sometimes I do wear concealer under my eyes or to cover blemishes. I’ve been thinking primer would help the longevity of my concealer but do I need a primer specifically for concealer or could I use one like the smashbox one here? Any makeup experts out there I’d love any tips!

You can use most eye shadow primers as a primer for your concealer. If you’re going to use a face primer for under your eyes, just be sure to check the ingredients first as they might irritate them (since most face products aren’t meant to be used so close to the eye area).

That’s a good tip, thank you!

I picked the Oribe because I love that spray! It’s been on my wishlist for awhile so I was happy to see it as a sample choice. I dropped my Beta sub this month. It wasn’t worth it to me.
