3 in 1 Bar (3.5 oz.) - Total Value $10 ($5 each)

Akamai suggests using their 3 in 1 Bar for your skin, hair, and to shave. I opted to try it for 2 of the 3 since I have special hair needs dues to my processed locks. I already use a natural tea tree oil body wash, so this wasn't a big jump for me. I immediately liked how subtle the scent was. The soap left me feeling squeaky-clean and didn't dry out my skin AT ALL. It feels quite moisturizing. I also used it to shave my legs, and it allowed the razor to glide along easily. I love that there are no unneeded dyes or perfumes in this little bar.

Mineral Toothpaste (3.4 oz) - Value $12

So far I've used this toothpaste twice (once at night, and once in the morning). Since I'm used to the big drugstore brands, the gray/clayish color is a bit off-putting, but their insert urged me to take the "2-week challenge", so I'm going to stick with it! I really did enjoy the muted flavor once I was done, and the clove especially stood out, reminding me of that old-timey clove gum.

Skin Fuel (2 oz) - Value $16

I have self-proclaimed sensitive skin, so I was happy to try this serum-like product since it's free of any harsh fillers, emulsifiers, fragrances, preservatives, or chemicals. They suggest using it on your skin, for your hair, or as an aftershave. I'm reluctant to try it on my hair since mine is super fine, but I decided to try it as an after shave on my legs once I was out of the shower. It really wasn't greasy, and since it is made up of essential and olive oils, it felt light and made my skin very soft.

Verdict: I think Akamai is a very forward-thinking idea, and done simply, well. I am often paralyzed by choice in this day and age, so I appreciate how they only present you with three products that will get the job done. The value is obviously there if you were to stick with these three products only and ditch the 10+ the average person probably uses daily, but I am bummed that you don't save any money by getting the Essentials Kit. The packaging is slick, everything smells subtly delightful, and I'm impressed by the easy understood ingredients. My skin feels moisturized and smooth, and my teeth feel just as clean as when I use something chock full of harsh chemicals. I would have no problem replacing some of my other products with these, and would feel a lot more free doing so.

What do you think of Akamai? Do you think "less is more" when it comes to personal care products?

I know, right? It’s hard to let go of the variety of personal care products, but imagine packing your toiletry bag for a trip! So easy!
