The APRIL ZEN BOX includes Zen Cajuput Essential Oil, Zen Palmarosa Essential Oil and Zen De-Stress Essential Oil Blend.

This box made significant changes to the subscription as of January 2017. This synopsis is from the ZEN BOX website or you can watch the Vimeo explanation here. In general, here is what you get:

I think it was a good idea to switch to bi-monthly boxes. Three oils a month is a lot to learn about and use on a monthly basis. Plus, I learned from Zen Box information emails that the shelf life of essential oils is generally 1.5-2 years depending on how well they were stored so that is a lot of oil to use when you have a subscription box.

ZEN BOX includes a business card with their contact information in the box and all other materials are sent electronically to the subscriber’s email address. I have contacted ZEN BOX several times for information and I always receive a response within a day – typically within hours. Their customer services are superb! And it’s not just me that thinks this, I’ve seen similar comments from others customer on the Amazon website regarding other Sublime Naturals (Zen Box parent company) products.

The information on each product and how to use it is sent as a link to a PDF document which you can see by clicking on this link. The information ZEN BOX sends is useful and I like that they tell provide source and production information for their oils as this is one of the telltale signs of pure, high-quality oils. The downside is that it is a lot of information. I wish they would synthesize the information better or include infographics to make it easier to read. They have been sending shorter (and more practical) emails with essential oil since the beginning of this year.

Zen Cajuput Essential Oil – Value $13.99

Cajuput is more of a medicinal vapor rub scent (minty and strong). Per ZEN BOX info, “It is a very efficient antibacterial, very effective bug repellent and like Eucalyptus is a top decongestant and respiratory aid.” We use a lot of products like this one for pain rubs and inhalants during the winter months so I’m happy to have a new one.

ZEN BOX says cajuput oil can be used for:

  • Diffuser
  • Respiratory problems
  • Cramps and spasms
  • Muscle pain
  • Acne/skin eruptions (with almond oil as a base)

Zen Palmarosa Essential Oil – Value $14.99

I’m really excited to start using this oil because everything I’ve read about it indicates it is wonderful (very moisturizing) for the skin. It is described as having a bright, grassy scent but I think the Indian Geranium reference fits it best.

ZEN-BOX-APRIL-2017-11oiltwo.jpg

The ZEN BOX information says palmarosa essential oil can be used in the following ways:

  1. Immune system stimulant
  2. Massage oil (with a base)
  3. Calming oil
  4. Skincare

I’m going to add this oil and some ylang ylang oil to my morning moisturizer. I understand is great for skin that has been over-exposed to the sun (that is me!)

Zen De-Stress Essential Oil Blend – Value $14.99

This blend is a mix of Jojoba Oil and Sunflower Oil as carrier oils and then Lavender, Clary Sage, Neroli, Roman Chamomile, and Rosemary. The scent is slightly sweet, just a bit of floral and a tiny bit of the medicine/vaporish smell that comes with rosemary. It is really a nice blend and I love putting it in my diffuser.

Verdict: I really enjoy ZEN BOX. I love trying new oils and learning about their various uses. The information ZEN BOX sends has been one of the best parts for me (although sometimes I wish there was a little less of it). I like reading the history of each oil that is included in the information they send. I always learn something new about the flower or herb and how to use the essential oil.

These oils are not the cheapest you can find but remember that it’s important to buy essential oils from a reputable supplier since they are not regulated. Many cheaper oils are cut with other oils and are not be pure and the prices of these oils are on par with the high-quality retailers I’m familiar with. ZEN BOX says their oils are 100% pure therapeutic quality and are gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS) tested, which is the way essential oils are tested for purity. The tests are conducted by Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), a multinational company providing inspection, verification, testing and certification services. I requested to see one of the GC/MS reports and ZEN BOX sent it to me the same day. I’m certainly no expert but at this point, I feel comfortable purchasing oils from ZEN BOX.

The value is just okay if you pay full price – basically, it includes shipping. The box costs $45 (you can get it for less with the 27OFFZENBOX or BOOK20IMMUNE coupons or an annual subscription) and the products this month add up to $43.97. I’ve seen cheaper essential oil boxes but I trust the quality of this box and that means a lot since there is so much variation in quality for essential oils. Plus, I get a lot of information and other discounts with this box.

There’s just no way I would pay 45$ for 3 oils that’s crazy! I can get a 12pc set from a reputable distributor for 40$!! And google for information on the oils. This just doesn’t seem worth it in anyway
