There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a funny dog meme, some information about upcoming themes, photos of featured subscribers’ dogs, etc.

There was also a gift card from Hello Fresh. I have received so many of these and honestly will be surprised if I ever receive a Pet Treater box WITHOUT one.

Petlou 19” Badger – Value $12.99

You will likely get a lot of large Petlou plushes in this subscription box. Nyx likes them and they are definitely size-appropriate. We may have received the badger before (now I can’t remember), but it’s all new to Nyx and she is tough on plushes so it’s OK to get a replacement every now and then.

Set of Two Metal Dog Bookends – Value $12?

I can’t find these anywhere online. There is aanURL on the label (which came attached during shipping) but it redirects you to a website where you have to log in and also do a $350 reseller opening purchase. These are plain, flat metal and they are pretty heavy. (In my search, I did find that Target has a lot of cool bookends on their website…)

pet-treater-april-2017-cookie

US Army Crinkle Soldiers Dog Toy – Value $9.99

This was sturdier than it looked but the legs, as I expected, were the weak point. (Nyx loved it while it lasted, though, and it was size-appropriate.) This is officially licensed merchandise, hence the use of the US Army logo, but this product line appears to have been discontinued and is only available through resellers and the like.

Emmy’s Gourmet Canine Creations Bunny Cookie – Value $1.35

This is the “three cheese pleaser” variety and is not currently available from Emmy’s (since Easter will have passed by the time this review gets posted). You will usually get a seasonal cookie from Emmy’s in Pet Treater. These have wheat in them so Nyx can’t have them.  I did have an official tester, though…

No, I did not let her eat it. But she will BITE anything.

pet-treater-april-2017-notepaper

From Frank Desk Notes – Value $7.94

This is a closeout item (or at least I think it is, since third party sellers on Amazon are offering it now). But I do admit, the photos are pretty cute (there are a few more besides those shown). I don’t think I can use these at work (in a law office…) but they will be good for grocery lists and the like.

pet-treater-april-2017-treats

Bil Jac PBnanas (4 oz) – Value $2.76

These are soft treats and at first I was excited because Nyx can have peanut butter and bananas. However, this doesn’t have actual banana in it! And while there is peanut butter, it also has artificial peanut butter flavor (and glycerin, propylene glycol, some preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, wheat flour, and various chicken ingredients). So not exactly the sorts of ingredients I actually would want my dog eating, if she even could have chicken or wheat (which she can’t).

Pawmegranate Lamb Strips (5 oz) – Value $7.99

These are made in the USA and are free of grains and soy. The first ingredient is actually lamb (which I don’t think Nyx has ever had before, so it would be OK for her) and these also have some chickpea flour, which seems to be fine for Nyx. However, this also has beef as the second ingredient as well as dairy, and those are out because of Nyx’s IBD. However, these seem to be really high quality treats with natural ingredients so I will pass them on to another dog owner.

Here are some shots of Nyx enjoying one of this month’s toys. I always love pictures with her tongue out a little bit!

Verdict: I calculated a value of around $55 for the April Pet Treater dog subscription box. I’d say that’s about average for this subscription, and of course it is definitely above the cost of the subscription. Some, but not all, of the items this month were closeouts, although I am perfectly fine with that for toys. The treats were items currently in production by their manufacturers, and not even in old packaging, which is wonderful (both bags had plenty of time left before their expiration dates, too). I think the pictures on the note pad are cute and will use the bookends in the room where Nyx sleeps (which is full of all my fantasy novels, currently), so this was a pretty good box for us this month.

Rottweiler (!) bookends and animal sticky notes are adorable! This box seems like it sends the most human treats of any other pet box.
With Nyx’s tongue out it looks like she might be being sweet to her new badger friend? 😉
