The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online. This month was travel-themed.
LEAP Balthazar the Traveling Parrot – Listed Value $5
Feathers are always popular around here, especially with Angus. These seem well-attached, too, and the size is pretty good for my crew.
Safemade Bazaar Mousie – Listed Value $4
I think my cats’ favorite part of this toy was the tail. I’m going to have to watch that to make sure no one chews it loose!
ThinkCat! Passport Pillow – Listed Value $5
This is a bit big for most of my cats but Angus has played with it some. Of all of them, Angus is the most likely to play with larger toys (well, and smaller toys too, for that matter).
‘R Squad Paw Candy – Listed Value $6
It took me a long time but I *think* this is supposed to be like either cotton candy or a lollipop or something? I suppose the cats don’t care about the shape, anyway, and it is a nice, small size.
Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats in Turducky (3 oz) – Value $3.99
I have seen these branded as Smart n’ Tasty or Emerald Pet and they appear to be the same product (we’ve received both before, in other cat boxes, and the treats are identical), so I’ve linked to the Smart n’ Tasty ones as they were easier to find online. These are crunchy treats that are supposed to help keep your cats’ teeth clean. Sneaky and Madison like them and Angus did eventually eat one, but it took him FOREVER to finish it.
ThinkCat! Airplane Wand – Listed Value $7
Dangly toys on sticks are always a win around here. Sneaky will actually play with them (even though she’s fat and lazy these days due to the prednisolone she’s on for asthma). Angus likes them too.
Paws ‘n Purrs 2-Pack of Wicker Balls – Listed Value $5
These were a Monkey item. He likes hard ball toys and little things that roll and he took great joy in knocking these down off of various surfaces.
Angus with some of the items from the box. His eye herpes is getting better (see the eye discharge). On his nose are some scratches from picking fights with Sneaky.
Madison doesn’t want to come out from under the bed. Again. At least he can still be lured with treats.
Monkey really liked the ball with feathers toys. It just isn’t the type of toy conducive to good photos. He also liked sniffing the treats but didn’t actually eat any of them.
Sneaky played with the airplane toy a lot. Dangly things on sticks are her favorites! As you can see from the second photo, she also likes the sticks. What you don’t see in the third photo are the scratch marks all over my hand from attempting to feed her the treats and take pictures at the same time.
Mr. Kitty would only come out of his sunny window for treats. Unfortunately, he can’t actually eat the treats. The best I can offer him is a sniff.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $36 for the April KitNipBox. That is higher than the cost of the box, although I did have to take most of the values from the information card. There are a whole bunch of brands that I only see in KitNipBox and not anywhere else, but I guess the benefit to that is you don’t get a lot of repeats! Anyway, I liked the selection of toys with catnip plushes in several sizes, a dangly toy on a stick, several items with feathers, etc. Since I have so many cats, someone is bound to like pretty much everything (and the treats were also a hit!).
What did you think of the April KitNipBox? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
