Cuddle Crate is a monthly subscription box for pets. You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig). You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bi-monthly box if monthly is too often for you.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Bronze Level, Cat, $28 a month, box.

Cuddle Crate has moved away from an information card listing the items in the box and instead are directing you to an URL where you can look up more information about the items.

This month, there was also a coupon inside a plastic Easter egg.

Mesa Eco Rollers (2 pack) – Value $2.58

I could only find these on a wholesale site so I have listed the suggested retail price. These are made of recycled cardboard and are a new product for us.  I think my cats’ favorite part was the twine/sisal stuff on the ends.

Fat Cat Fluff Bunnies – Value $3.22

This brand is pretty much always a win for us. Monkey (and now Angus) think the texture of the canvas/cloth parts of these is awesome and I guess they have good catnip, too. This is a nice size for tossing around, as well.

KONG Softies Fuzzy Bunny – Value $4.49

This is super soft and just at the upper size limit of what my cats really like to play with. It is lightweight and good for tossing. This one has moved around the floor a bit since I put it upstairs, so someone is definitely playing with it, too.

Mesa Fun-Mice – Value $3.18

This is another item I could only find on a wholesale site, so I’ve once again included the MSRP. We received these in another cat subscription box lately but I don’t remember which one. My cats like these little guys, though (Angus tossed one around a lot yesterday), so I would not be upset to see this brand appear in cat boxes more often.

Red Barn Naturals Freeze Dried Chicken (0.75 oz) – Value $3.99

We got turkey last month. I’m going to be honest, my cats are not terribly enthusiastic about freeze-dried meat compared to other treats. I know this is more wholesome than a lot of treats, with fewer ingredients and minimal processing, but I think flavors added to other treats to make them more palatable are more of a draw in terms of getting cats to actually eat the treats. At any rate, Sneaky ate a lot of these (she’s on prednisolone for asthma lately, which increases her appetite) and Angus ate a few.

I don’t think Mr. Kitty knows what is going on in either one of these photos. But at least I got some shots of him with his eyes open.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $17.46 for the April Cuddle Crate for cats box. That is quite a bit lower than the month-to-month cost of the box. You could probably round the value up to $20 if you take sale prices for some of the items into account, but I’d really like to see another item or two, to round out the value.
