Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods. It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.

I kind of like these plastic cases. They look to be a good size for storing beads or other craft supplies (and goodness knows, I have enough of those…).

This box was sent to us at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Box of Happies

The Cost: $29.99/month for a single upcoming month of your choice (when I played with the shopping cart I was also charged tax but I think that’s because they’re in the same state I am) or $29.49 for a random box from a past month; save with longer subscriptions. You can also add a bar of soap or candle to your box for $6.49, or a piece of jewelry for $8.

Included was an information card listing the items in the box.

Box of Happies Pineapple Necklace – Listed Value $10

Box of Happies Pineapple Earrings – Listed Value $10

This is a jewelry-heavy subscription and this month is no exception. What is a little unusual this month is that the necklace and earrings match! But they are delicate, which is my preference, and they will get worn. Note: I’m not a fan of getting necklaces in little bags. There is a knot in the chain that I haven’t yet been able to undo.

Bottle Opener Keyring from Bebe Sniklefritz/Mod 13 – Listed Value $2

This particular item wasn’t listed individually in the Mod 13 Etsy shop (linked to above) so I took the value from the information card. I don’t have a lot of need for a bottle opener since I don’t drink beer, but I know plenty of people who would find this very useful so I will gladly pass it along. (Box of Happies items are quite good for gifting.)

Organic Crush Shop Lip Tint – Value $3.95

If you are worried about the bold color, don’t be – this is really more of a tinted balm (with not a ton of tint). See the swatch below – that’s with multiple passes over my arm. This is very moisturizing, though, and made with all organic ingredients.

Box of Happies Notepad – Listed Value $2

This was listed as a bonus item (but it was on the information card). I have a lot of little notebooks around from subscription boxes, but it means I can always find one when I need it and I don’t ever have to buy them. This is a good size for putting in a purse or something.

Box of Happies Tassel Bookmarks (2) – Listed Value $5

Tassels are everywhere these days! These are cute, tiny ones, though. And I’m less worried about bookmark clips of this size damaging paper than I am with larger, heavier ones.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $33 for the April 2017 Box of Happies. That’s a little more than the cost of the box and about average for this subscription. I learned about some new Etsy artisans this month and got to try their products (and/or see the quality) without having to pay individual shipping for each item, which is always nice. (I find Etsy a bit overwhelming.) I think the curation was good, and about what you can expect from this subscription month-to-month. If you like to have little gifts around for emergencies, or just like trying items from small producers, this is a really good box for those situations.

They looked like acorns to me but I see that you are right. In my defense, I have terrible vision and it was dark in my living room.
